All people, not just kids, pushing through the line to get to their friends irritates me to no end. Half of the time I prevent them from moving through and mention that the considerate thing to do is ask their friends to come back to their spot in the line. This never computes for them and I always end up feeling like I have done something wrong. But I keep doing it anyway. Not sure why.

Cutting a line is grounds for dismissal from BGW. I have seen signs at other parks that explicitly list jumping the line to catch up with your groups as falling under this restriction.

I don't think there is much of a gray area. It is both rude and a violation of the rules.

I think that the current state of HoS is at its highest "intense" and also the same with Haunt as well. Reason why is that these parks are highly public and the smallest thing can turn out to be a PR nightmare for the park. (Example: Decapitated heads at BGW last year and Miners Revenge at KD in 2013.) In regards to putting an age limit on HoS, there is no way that BG could do that. It would take more manpower and plus it cut into profits for the park.

You can still be public and get more intense you just have to have the proper things in place to cover yourself legally. Look at so many of the "Completely Immersive" haunted houses that are out there. There are so many haunts pushing the limits nowadays. It seems to work more if youre not as apologetic about it either. Alot of places take the stance of,You came to me to be scared i just set the rules and you agreed to them its on you if you find it offensive or what have you. While i know it can be harder for things like theme parks. There is only so much IMO that can be said for people who find bad taste in haunts. I went to a haunt once that had an area where supposedly every person had a chance to act out their sickest fantasies and one of the charecters had a prop of a women with a rod through her that was dressed as a ballerina and he would spin her and such and later i seen the woman complaining to the management about it. Im like YOU paid to be here. The guy told her he wasnt giving her the money back because they did their job well enough to make her complain. lol

Well, this is certainly interesting. Count Vlad and Jack are included in the mix. It really makes me believe that this maze will have a similar set up to 13, each room will be a different monster.....

Note: "Monsters" from past/current attractions have a darker boarder around their sketch. In fact characters from current attractions have a brown snake, past attractions have a black snake, and new characters have a gold snake as a border.

Someone else had a good point about how there are no identifying documents or IDs at that age, so how would enforcing such a ban even work? Just park employees walking up to people who they thought looked too young, asking them their age and taking their word for it? Doesn't seem very practical.

That said, I do wish the park would use stronger language when warning parents of young children that the event is not family friendly.

The same way they enforce it in movie theaters.

Haunt is more about the scare and making people have "accidents". I'm hitting up Haunt on the first Friday then partaking in HoS on the second Friday. If you are going to Haunt for the first time, Friday night is the way to go since its less crowded. KD opens up @ 7pm instead of being open all day like BG.

Hmm that is interesting... PLEASEEEE no pirates lol. Im not sure what theme the captain was from but to me pirates arent scary, I remember seeing the trickster wasnt he from Dark side of the gardens theme?

It wouldn't be economical for them I guess, but it would be interesting if BG wasn't open all day; that could deter some of these young children in the park after dark. I also like the idea of stroller ban after 6. It's so dark and the fog machines on make it bad for strollers to be there anyway.

I can agree it wouldnt be. Because just For people like my husband and I we dont get to BGW much from where we live in Md. His days off and my work schedule never seem to coincide :) but anyway we actually normally go check in on a thursday and spend all day friday, sat and sunday at the park. We normally enjoy the friday daytime there because its not normally too horribly busy since there is school and such. It might give ppl more time to see the park as it normally is too. Its such a double edged sword, you take something away and another party loses something. Its hard to figure out a balancing act.

Maybe they could have the park open all day and include a children's event. Then they could close the hamlets beyond Heatherdowns (sort of the opposite of a staggered opening), and only readmit people over the age of 16, or people without strollers, or whatever.

I like that. My only worry is that people will complain that they paid for a day pass, thus making it so that they would have to charge a separate fee for Howl-O-Scream to avoid complaints. I'm comparing it to Disney in that respect, where you can pay for a day pass on their Halloween event days, but you must exit at 7pm, and only separate even ticket holders are allowed in.

They could sell a "discounted" pass for 10:00-6:00.  Other parks sell cheaper tickets for people who come later in the afternoon.  The full price would include HOS.

Annual Passes are for an entire season, so I don't think the issue would be the same.  Pass holders who are old enough could get in for free and those who are, can't.  Really we get our money back after a few trips anyway.

That's true. It would only affect those who buy single day passes, which I'm sure in October is much smaller than in the summer.

EDIT: I do remember one summer BG had an evening pass for after 4pm at a discounted price. That was some time last decade though.

Universal is owned by Comcast, one of the largest companies in the country, and it goes all out for HHN every year. When you advertise as an adult event and parents complain that its too adult that is their fault.

and I disagree that an age limit would cut profits, if anything it would bring in more of the younger crowd who tend to spend lots of money on booze

This sounds like a crowd control nightmare.
