I have been trying not to say this, because everyone will be so offended, but I don't like any of the shows in the park, and I never have. When I was in grade school and taking ballet and character dancing and my parents dragged me into the Festhaus, I didn't like the show. All I see are the technical mistakes the dancers are making. I look at pictures of the dancers and I cringe. I heard the dialogue, and I cringe. And honestly some of the singers shouldn't.
But that doesn't mean I have higher standards than everyone else. It just means I like different things.
Just because you have found things to criticize doesn't make your opinion better or your tastes more refined. And it certainly doesn't give you justification for feeling superior to everyone who disagrees with you.
OK, rant over. And I apologize to all of the very hard working performers in advance. Although this may prove those who see me as some park cheerleader wrong. I just believe that nothing is gained by publicly criticizing other people, unless they are being intentionally rude or mean.
It should not insult anyone except those who have moved themselves place via complacency. Breathe in. Breathe out.
It's not complacency for some of us who weren't there for the old days. I have only been going to the park since April 2012. I think this old man mentality is ruining progress, "Get off my old country with your damn fun you whippersnappers". Is it such a terrible thing that people enjoy themselves? I don't want the Old Country, because it's old. It will never be back. Live with it or stay home.
