Some more Howl-o-scream prep

This looks awesome. So far we've got the roof of the witch's gingerbread house (Hansel and Gretel) and a house of straw (Three Little Pigs). Hopefully the entrance to this scare zone gets its own logo soon. Another thing: If this scare zone goes with the Brothers Grimm's fairy tales, Cinderella should be wearing gold slippers, since those are the shoes she wears in the German version. The French version (the one everyone knows) features glass slippers. I also hope they include Cinderella's ugly stepsisters whose eyes have been violently pecked out by vengeful birds.

Love your enthusiasm but I'd keep expectations in check. Staffing has consistently limited what they can do. We'll see with this year's changes.

I don’t think general familiarity has ever been or should be a metric for which stories and characters they use. Honestly, how many people knew what a wendigo was, before BGW used it? And how many people know all of Poe’s works?

I kinda like Sweeney Todd as a theme for a new house, actually.

I was more going with trying to convey who they are - I think if I remember that territory actors and/or signage helped with understanding what a Wendigo was so it's not a random abstract character. With that though, I don't recall ever seeing an actual representation of the monster anywhere.

With Sweeney Todd, perhaps allusions to a demented barber shop on Ripper Row next to an obviously foul pie stand with actors going in for a shave and disappear with new pies referencing obvious parts of those characters are advertised barker-style?

There is a currently unused shop in England that would lend itself very well to that…

What is the terminology used for Jack the Ripper's victims in Ripper Row? I know that the most likely historically accurate terms would be "harlot", "strumpet", "trollop", or "lady of the night". I am curious because it's well-known that the Ripper murdered female sex workers who lived in the East End of London.

I have this hilarious mental image of Karens/Soccer Moms going into Scary Tale Road during Howl-O-Scream and complaining that it's "inappropriate for their children" despite the fact that most fairy tales we know were not originally intended for kids

I’m not sure why anything at HOS after dark needs to be “family friendly.” As we have discussed at great length before, a haunt isn’t a children's event. The Halloween activities during the day and attractions in FoF are BGW’s family events.

And, yes, a lot of people don’t seem to know the literary history of our fairy tales. Everything has been Disnified, I fear.

To be fair, Monstro, Cruella, and Ursula scared the living bejeesus out of some of my childhood friends and family way back in the day...

The Queen of Hearts is also scary. Why doesn't Howl-O-Scream use "Alice in Wonderland" for one of their outdoor attractions? They already have a British area in their park.

There was an Alice room in Demented Dimensions:

In general, I agree it is a great theme for a house. The surrealism of the story easily lends itself to disorientation and unease. The HHH funhouse, Asylum in Wonderland, is easily one of my favorite all-time haunt attractions.

I hate the hot pink heads. I don't really know why, but I do. Gives me major bubblegum vibes and it looks like shit in my opinion.
