I believe KD does (did?) a nightly House of the Night. I recall being asked to vote for my favorite as I exited the park a few times. My understanding was that it was a huge motivator for the casts. I'm not sure what, if anything, they got for winning, beyond recognition and the thrill of victory.

Maybe someone who has worked at Haunt can comment?

In 2015 they did Maze of Night/ Scare Zone of the night, but yes it was mainly about bragging rights and recognition. They had a running list of each nights winners posted outside the costume closet (inside Associate Services). Along with that, each maze/ scare zone would have an actor of the night. These folks were able to get a special Haunt pin and were able to participate in the resurrection ceremony if they weren't already apart of it. Then, at the end of the year they would have a maze of the year, scare zone of the year, actor of the year, etc. Again this was mainly for yourself and bragging rights. Not too much monetary/ prize value were associated with this. But the next day, Haunt people were always looking to see who had won the night prior. Also, if someone managed to scare anyone in management (typically your area supervisors and above), then they would be given a $5 coupon to the employee cafeteria.

A lot has changed since I've worked Haunt, so I'm not entirely sure if all the above is still in practice, but I do know recently the actors can receive "kill bills" which can saved up to buy various KD/ Haunt gear from associate services and maybe stuff from the employee cafeteria(?). Maybe someone who has worked the event more recently would know.

Honestly they should also implement a "house of the week"/"zone of the week" thing where whichever cast puts on the best show gets a small bonus or something, incentive to help prevent scareactor fatigue as the event progresses. [...]

They definitely do have "Terrortory of the week" awards. Not sure if they come with a financial incentive though.

I hope they expand the New France terrortory because I love how gruesome and macabre it made the smokehouse. Made me wanna eat there more. Circo has been here for so long I wouldn’t mind it being changed out. Same for dystopia.

Considering we are a bit more than 2 weeks out from Bierfest, I would expect something to be at least teased either this week or next. It is weird how silent they have been on the subject, usually the hype building starts early with small teasers.

You're probably right. A teaser video for Tampa came out yesterday.

Has anyone noticed if during HoS (and therefore the higher push of alcohol on BGW's side and the higher consumer likelihood to buy alcohol) they make it easier for Uber/Lyft to run in and out of the park? I know typically they wait in the same lines as parking does on the way in and out, but I am curious if they change this for HoS. For example when they close the gates for capacity, how would an Uber get in to pick someone up to leave the park?

Potentially going to utilize Uber for my group this year instead of just having a DD so no man is left behind, but don't want to get screwed because of it and possibly get stranded at the end of the night or a driver straight up cancel because the line to get in is ridiculous.

We've had great luck with getting picked up there during HOS. There definitely seems to be more available drivers. Almost all of our drivers have been able to go through the employee entrance/old membership perk guard shack area and pick us up in England lot, and we get out that way too.

We've also had good luck getting picked up at the bus stop on Pocahontas Trail to help the driver avoid all that thanks to @Zachary 's suggestion. However, since it is right at the light where some people are exiting the park with a short merging lane, and some people may not be entirely sober, I've always been worried about them getting rear-ended.

That’s the one thing I wish was better planned out. The buses and their connecting routes should run later during HOS to provide another means of transport to and from hotels and such.

PSA - Members, don't forget to stock up on your Howl-O-Scream Quick Queues. Every visit you make in August, you get a QQ per pass for Howl-O-Scream. My husband and I stocked up on almost 20 total last year and they were very nice to have on some busy evenings. You have to print the voucher at the Kiosk, then redeem it at the Emporium for the actual QQ. Some people last year just printed the voucher but didn't redeem it at the Emporium.
