Had a blast at HOS member night last night. Every house was walk on (except frostbite which was holding people and sending groups of 5!) and usually went though with just my group. Best scares of the season by far. A couple houses seemed a little low staffed but the majority of the houses had several strong scares. Ex. The snake room in circo last weekend vs last night. Several houses have mastered the distraction double scare and I had a fantastic night except for the horrible humidity which made me an absolute puddle the entire evening.

They got rid of the music they used to play in Oktoberfest, which makes me sad. It was my favorite HOS soundtrack in the park. It also included Cry Little Sister from Lost Boys.

BTW, How Soon is Now was originally a Smiths song.

Also there was like 5 actors in the house and it was like 40 minutes until closing. But as we were exiting we saw a couple being escorted out of the park or to like a security vehicle.

This have anything to do with stealing Prizes from closed game areas? Unfortunately we saw people stealing a ton of the large Prizes from that water gun game outside of Alpengeist (all huge Ghostbusters plush prizes). 10:00-10:45 range. So sad to see that happen at BG.

I mean I've seen people maybe put Lemonade into a water cup or something before at Busch, or the whole moral/ethical debate of #ChurroGate, but nothing like what I saw last night.

One of the most disappointing things of this situation: it was a damn member night.

I honestly wouldn't know if it had anything to do with that. I was inside Cornered and when I was leaving we passed a man and woman being escorted. the man had his hands up and the woman was yelling angrily every so often about directions.

That's what we were disappointed with too the amount of things we saw coming from guests tonight was ridiculous. It was a member night, you pay a lot of money for this stuff and to be able to come back frequently. Why are you guys acting like this?? It was rather bad.

If anyone is around, I'll be the one in the hat with Russian on it and the fake Williamsburg (Tampa) HoS shirt unless I have a blue jacket on ?

Conclusion: they over extended.

I feel like year after year people talk about them being understaffed so they need to hire more people, but the more I think about it, they have just kept adding for the past few years. 7 houses and 6 terrortories is a lot to have staffed, and pretty much every area didn't have enough people in it, with the exception of a scare zone here and there.

Can they just downsize? I'd be so happy with 4 great houses and like 3 groups of roamers, no scare zones. A lot higher concentration of people will do so much for them, because all night tonight the only issues with any of it was low concentration of scare actors.

That and a lot of the scare actors don't understand that you can't scare someone 5 seconds behind someone you just scared, because that second person saw you scare the first.

I think the lack of environmentals around the park is a huge problem too. Much of the park hasn't felt like Howl-O-Scream to me in a long, long time. The park needs so much more theming around the paths and whatnot.

This is kinda a weird nitpick thing but

I remember when the whole concept of the halloween bar started, I'm not sure if it was the first but I know it was one of the first, with Pirate Baaaargh. This one executed it properly; to be considered a bar, shouldn't it have stools at the counter??? They are calling all these purchasing stands bars, but ??? are they not just concession stands now?

Also, though the pirates were brutal, Pirate Baaargh was damn good theming execution, stuff like Jack's Nightcap is just a depressing box. Like what? Who designed it and was like "yeah this is goooood".

I'm not positive if Pirate Baaaargh had stools the whole lifespan of it, but I remember at one point it did, because it was like the only place in the park like that, so my dad spent a profuse amount of time there.

So on member night as we went into Frostbite everyone was being told "no souvineer cups and no stuffed animals" as we got to the old unload point. We have been almost every night this HOS season and this was the first night ive been told that there. We were also never told that at any other house that night or any other night. Anyone else have this happen? If this is the case it would be nice if the park would post a house by house set or rules on what you can and can not take in.

I haven't seen any signs saying that in front of the houses if that is the case they really should have it posted at the houses.

Every house yesterday said no to cups for me. I got a locker.
I have been through each house numerous times and this was the first anyone at any house has ever said it. I could understand cups with drink in them, people getting scares and dropping it or splashing it on a display but empty cups should be allowed. I wish BGW would go to the system KD has where you can have it on your pass and they give you a paper cup.

Stuffed animals aren't usually allowed in mazes to begin with. Or at least it was an old rule from years ago. You had to leave it at the front of the line. I've never seen anybody get spoken to about cups before. But it would make sense not to bring them in.

I've found as CT has grown, the amount of decorations around the park has decreased for HOS. I'm guessing mainly because of the man hours it takes to make the switch in November. So I wouldn't look for it to ever to be like it was again.

I came up to Williamsburg Thursday night for the weekend. I did both HOS and Haunt among other things during my trip. I'll post my thoughts on HOS after I get back home today.

I agree. I noticed several Christmas lights already put up in a few areas of the park yesterday.
