Non-Alcohol question . . .

If there's rain, does HOS pretty much shut down? Or not really at all unless it's an absolute downpour?

I've never been to HOS (or any theme park Halloween event), so a total newbie here.

Thanks

Depends on crowds...if there is hardly anyone there they will close early.

Quick thoughts about Thursday night. This was the best night for me since 2014. Not sure if it was because the crowds were small (almost nonexistent) and virtually no wait for anything, or if it was because the park was very well staffed or a combination of both. The actors were really on their game and the atmosphere was amazing. The chill in the air helped too. I will hopefully post more details later. I would love to see the rest of the weekend have last nights vibe.

One small gripe. Apparently my season pass still has my legal name (boys name) and I definitely do not fit that name anymore. The man taking my ticket looked at it and looked at me then started shouting the name on the ticket looking for its owner. I had to show my old ID and explain that I was transgender, to which he looked at me like i was crazy. I laughed it off but it was a bit annoying and uncomfortable. Its certainly my fault for not changing the info though and i know they are just doing their job.

Oof. I'm sorry to hear that was a concern at all. Last year there was a kerfuffle where they made a transwoman change her clothes because the security guard was calling it a costume.

People some days...

Getting back to the violence in the park, I heard some interesting data today. It is my understanding that there has been a significant increase in the number of incidents this year.

The cause of this surge is unfortunately probably unknowable, but possibly worth some debate.

I'd love to know where the violence is occurring? More in the mazes, or more out in the open in the scare zones?

Perhaps the advent of November is to blame.

And I'm so sorry to hear about all this transphobic crap happening! I'm appalled that a transwoman would be made to change into "guy clothes" simply to enter the park. This is why we protest, fam.

Why does Busch even open on days like today, 80-100% forcast of rain today/tonight and steady heavy rain all afternoon so far. To make employees drive all the way to work only to send them home is downright stupid.

The event ran for three hours, so they didn’t just send their staff home. The houses were fully staffed; the shows were running; and we even saw some actors on the paths. Additionally, they probably are very hesitant to close on the final weekend of the event.

Then why close at 9pm and not stay open till midnight. It literally poured all afternoon and early evening then at 9pm the rain mostly let up.....I was up there, not inside the park but there.
Im sure there were some if not many that spent as much as they made tonight on fuel to get to the park and back home. Those additional 3 hours make the diffrence.
My point is, why with the conditions all day and the forcast did they not make the decision to close all together and call it a wash. KD has all inside houses except for Stalkers and even they closed and they did not have the wind we had down here.

There wouldn't have been anyone left in the park by midnight. As a guest at the park today, three hours of HOS was really nice. I was able to hit all of the open houses, walk around the park, and I would have had time to see a show or two if I had wanted to as well. By giving guests three hours on a really light night, they allowed those guests to experience the parts of the event that could be offered. I can't complain about that.

Current update... RIDICULOUS lines... I’m in line for Apollo’s atm and I’m legally blind. I was walking through Oktoberfest and I was using my cane, and somebody stepped on my cane and DIDNT EVEN APOLOGIZE!!! Like WTF!!!!!!! They weren’t even drunk! Annoying tbh. Still a great night for the coasters though, Apollo’s line is moving really fast.

Add on: just left the park.. it started raining around 10:30, and once that started, EVERYONE left. We got last ride of the night on Apollo’s in front seat. Today was worth going. Except for the ridiculously high number of drunks. Other than that, great night, scare squad was really haulin it today. As it got later on though, they weren’t quite working as hard, but that’s to be expected when you gotta work till midnight! Also, Battle For Eire a walk-on, and so were most of the flatrides today. Longest line I had to wait in(cause I use RAP)was about 20 mins for Frostbite. Just beforehand, someone got kicked out. Don’t know why, but they did. Vbolt was finally running both platforms, and Griffon was doing fairly well on operations, but then a shift change basically snailized the operations. They were running 3 trains and waited till one train got through the whole circuit, before dispatching. Oh well, can’t always be perfect. Vault was slammed. 2 hr wait until 11:00. I saw Monster Stomp on Ripper Row for the first time, and I gotta say, WOW!!!!! That was impressive! Y’all might not believe this, but Alpie was running fairly smooth today. Here’s a little trick to remember for alpie: want a smoother ride, sit in the middle two seats, want a more intense, but less smooth ride, sit on the edges. Anyways, great trip!

ok i’m gonna write a lil review of last night because ngl it was pretty great.

so the park was really busy, but the wait times weren’t that long at all? we got there around 6-something and went to Vault, which had like a 15 minute wait. i really enjoyed that one, it was a fun time! After that was Lumberhack, which was about 5-10 minutes. it was also really enjoyable, but i think it was more fun watching people get scared of the chainsaws. we went through Dystopia, which i actually enjoyed a lot better than the first time i went through it. i noticed that everyone, both in the houses and on the paths, were performing really well.

it started raining a few hours before closing, so it got pretty empty after that. Frostbite was a walk-on, and for 5 minutes before closing, it wasn’t all that bad. probably still the worst house imo. the rides were also really fun tonight but that’s kind of a given.

but honestly the highlight of the night was Demented Dementions. we sprinted over there after Alpengeist 10 minutes before closing. it was a total walk-on, there was only like 3 people behind us. but i don’t think i’ve ever seen more enthusiastic actors in a house. since it was like, 11:50, i was expecting them to not be on their a-game, which would be totally fair! but these guys were popping out everywhere, and were so into their characters! the sets were great as usual, but the actors were such an improvement from the last time i went through it! they even managed to startle me a little bit, which i never get scared. it was definitely the best house of the night.

also the monster cake is still awesome
