That's what makes it all a ton more suspicious. There is no transparency in the nomination process or the voting process. Who knows whether or not they picked things that were submitted in the first place? Considering the marketing-type names they gave the options, I wouldn't doubt for a second that they were thought up well before all of this as well.

Well clearly they didn't like my idea...

It's gotta be a farce. Remember when OMG WE FOUND SOME WOODEN STRUCTURE UNDER THE PARK AND WE'RE DIGGING IT UP! and OMG I LOST MY BEST FRIEND IN BUSCH GARDENS SO I'M GONNA ASSUME A SHITTY NAME AND BLOG ABOUT IT... it all just ended up being a 'clever' marketing ploy? Same thing here. Which yes, is annoying, but I see why they're doing it. Generating excitement, blah blah blah.

I still want the room roulette to win though :D

But when you submitted an idea for a room it said leave a brief description so maybe they just used the descriptions that were submitted with the room ideas...

If you read the titles and descriptions, they are all marketing flim flam. I do not believe anyone submitted those meaningless phrases. They are strings of words designed to sound as if they describe something, until you stop and parse them out, at which point they make little to no sense and don't explain anything about the rooms in question.

What I do believe is that the marketing team crafted vague phrases, made up of Haloweeny words. They are general enough that the park can claim they meant almost anything.

Regardless, they "descriptions" do nothing to enlighten the "voters" who are participating in this farce.

OH MY GOOOOOOOOOOD y'all are taking this way too seriously. Do I want HoS to be good? Of course. Do I want them to genuinely incorporate things that the fans want? Of course. But this is marketing's LITERAL JOB, to reach out to people and excite them. Yeah, it's weasely language, but that doesn't mean it's inherently a farce or a trick. They very likely have all of these options on hand and are just deciding which they want to include depending on which gets the most votes. We're talking about slight tweaks here, not doing entire scenes from scratch, because that would be nuts. But they want fans (like YOU) to feel listened to, which apparently is now deceptive? This is a theme park haunt we're talking about here, not Delusions or Sleep No More. Let's all take a chill pill. I can't get mad at marketing for using marketing language, and I can't get mad at BGW for filling out a mostly-planned maze with things they think their fans want.

But didn't you say a few days ago that you'd rather they design my committee instead of design by the public? What's the complaint?

And UnicornZiva. PREACH. The park wants to "involve their populace" in some indirect way, and we're overanalyzing their process.

In no part of the "marketing mix" involves complete and total (and I will use Nic's expresion here because it is perfect) Flim Flam.

There is no direct evidence that the park has any versions ready, and why should they? Prepping multiple versions would be a waste of time. I have to say I agree with Nic and Zachary here, this smells like typical BGW BS.

Now having said that, I am a staunch opponent of "web voting." It is a cheap gimmick at best, and piss poor planning at worst. Planning by committee gets you a camel not a horse.

The point, as I read it, was that it is unlikely that they were being honest but if they were then the idea is terrible because design by public is stupid.

I hardly think calling the park out on bullshit is "overanalzing." If anything ignoring the parks BS is fanboyish.

I think making conspiracy theories about an online poll gets you a mountain, not a mole hill.  But that's just my opinion on this matter.

Can we change the subject?? Who cares about votes. Okay so bittens red cloth at the entrance is up.

Speaking of Bitten they have finished installing the speakers and audio racks.

I'm not exactly sure I see the logic behind that. Nor am I ignoring or pretending about anything.

Speaking of Scott Gasparich, I've actually recently heard that Oak Island (one of the park's main outsourcing thematic contractors/installers) has taken on Scott Gasparich as an associate. I'm curious to how his influence is felt this Howl-O-Scream, although I doubt there will be much, if at all. Just when you thought he was gone for good.
