I'm really hoping with the Circus theme coming back they will decorate the teacups like they did many years ago. I've said it many times in previous threads, but that was so awesome. If it happens, I will make HOS a priority this year. I've missed it the last few years.

Did a quick circle around the park yesterday while at the lure-a-thon, didn't see anything Hos related except the Cornered maze progress (and maybe a ghastly ^_^).

Not Surprised you won't be seeing anything HOS related in the park until August at least.

Yup. I meant to be more specific about not seeing any Bitten props outside either, but I was distracted.

Went to the park Sunday and looked for HOS construction. Didn't really see anything really strang except the bungee scare from CTC was salvaged and it looked like there was some digging going on where the fire scare was located during Cursed.

In this photo you can see the bungee and if you look farther back you can see a digger. I also noticed stakes near where the entrance of the previous haunted houses were located and also where the digger is.

Above you can see what is probably the most interesting to me. It appears to be a stand with a fish on top and another smaller stand to the right. Not really sure where this is going if it'll be implemented an older attraction or one of the new clown attractions.

Here's some deer because I thought this was cute.

To finish here's the beginning of construction for Cornered.

In case anyone needs it, here is the link to the poll.

And here is a screen shot:

I also have a few questions:

1. I don't see where is says if we can vote daily, but it seems to be the usual tool, so I guess we can?

2. Has anyone seen anything approaching a description of any of these options?  How on earth is one supposed to pick among meaningless titles?

(Yes, these were rhetorical, posed out of frustration.)
Nicole under each selection there are a brief description under each choice

Yes.  They are not in any way useful.  I mean an actual description with actual information.  Not a series of words strung together that seem mostly for effect.

Edit: Here is my actual theory. The reasons the "descriptions" don't really mean anything is because there is no real voting taking place.

Given that it is already the end of July, how could the reasonably develop a storyline; design a maze; and create props by September?

I theorize that this is all a farce. They have a concept and are pretending to ask for guest input, because that is the trendy thing to do and theoretically will increase excitement about the event and the new house.

Looking at the site, they are not tallying the votes anywhere that I can see. So, there is no way to tell which option actually has the most support. That means they can do whatever they want and claim that it was all decided by the internet. The fact that the options aren't really clear makes that even easier.

Honestly, I hope they are not leaving any decisions about the new maze to Facebook. The only result I see is a poorly conceived, hurriedly constructed, and badly crafted mess.

The absolute best case scenario here is that the park is lying to us and this is all a farce. Why? Because design by committee is bad enough—design by the masses is and will always be far worse.

Would a theater company ever post a poll asking which of three scenes they should put into their next play? No. The very thought is preposterous. Haunted houses are theater. The same exact expectations should apply.

If the park is being truthful with this crowdsourcing nonsense, it means this house is just being looked at as a loose collection of spooky rooms. That state of mind is what brought us Thirteen. We don't need a new Thirteen—we need more Cornereds and Lumberhacks—houses with well thought out stories, and cohesive, overarching visions. You don't get a great work of theater by throwing a wildcard in the middle for uninformed, unqualified commoners to decide.

Theater is art. Art needs passion. A passionate artist doesn't let strangers paint a picture in the middle of his or her masterpiece. This is no different.

Frankly this all boils down to one of three things: a horrible, disgusting example of creative laziness, blatant lies meant to solicit social media engagement, or gimmicky, forced social media interference in what should be a work of art. Regardless of which of these is true, I'm really fucking tired of it being looked upon as an acceptable practice.

EDIT: Someone took my commoners statement to mean the park's Facebook fans. I'm talking about them, yes, but I'm also talking about myself and at least the overwhelming majority of the people reading this post right now—we are the commoners.

I don't have an arts degree. I'm not qualified to design a work of immersive theater. I don't want that power. I never signed on to have that responsibility. I spend money at BGW so the park can hire qualified individuals who want to create art for me to experience. If those people are shoving their job off on the park's customers, what the fuck are we paying for?

I have to agree with this cause I seen the posts on the Busch Facebook page and all people are talking about is bringing back the haunted train. Despite the fact we all know it was a hit and miss attraction that is most likely never coming back.

My personal theory is that the park already has designed the house and simply picked choices similar to things that they had already decided to put in it so that no matter what wins they simply tweak it a little and go see we listened to you.

Nicole, I'm not trying to start an argument because honestly I wouldn't put it past the park to make it appear like your voting but in reality they are just going to do what they want. But when you submitted an idea for a room it said leave a brief description so maybe they just used the descriptions that were submitted with the room ideas...but I can agree with it being fake because if they were actually going to do this why wouldn't they do it earlier in the season?
