It really works! Look at the success of Mystical Mayhem and Twisted Terror. Just add a new name, some fog, lights, a prop or two and you got yourself a ride the GP will love and gives a reason Pass members to come back and try it out.

Yes, many people like yourselves do like the "party" vibe as well as the scares. My concern is that fewer people prefer that than they do all-out chills and thrills. The full, all-around scary event worked well at the park fine for years and still works for basically every other park that has a Halloween event. I certainly don't go to the park for the "night club" aspects, and the areas like Demon Street horribly break the scary theme that I do go to the park for.

This is one of those times when I wish there was a way to actually collect data on a park-related issue... see, my experience with NON-BGWFans is that in actuality, more people actually do prefer a mix of party and scares (hence everyone I went with last year saying Demon Street was their favorite part of the park). But it's clear that for the majority of people on this forum, the preference would lean heavily in favor of an all-scary event that is minimally impacted by the "party" vibe. So my question is, do y'all think my experience with the people I went with last year is an anomaly and in reality the preferences of the majority of park-goers more closely matches the preferences on here?

Also it does seem like it would be a cool idea to relocate the DJ to over near Griffon, at the very least for the sake of easier movement through the hamlet! And I so wish they would retheme (by which I really just mean like, put up a cool sign with a Halloween-related twist on the name) at least the major rides... it seems like such a little thing to do that would be a really nice touch!

I don't think your group was an anomaly. A lot of people in my classes last year (Junior/Senior college students), spoke about how much they loved the DJ. Meanwhile my friends (Just out of high school - sophomore college) Hated the DJ. However my friends aren't clubbing/partying type people what so ever.

It's really all just personal preference. There's no real way of knowing with out surveys, and even then you're not gonna get exact details.

For what it is worth, I love dance clubs and dance music. I, however, do NOT want them outside...ever. I also don't like big dance parties, located where they disrupt the feel of an area. I think either Catacombs needs to change, or the dance party needs to be moved inside somewhere.

I certainly get the appeal of a party scene and I'm not against the idea of a party at the park. The execution and premise of Demon Street was abysmal though and the fact that they tried to put scares into Demon Street tells me that they have no idea how to do a properly. I'll be the first to tell you that I'm not into parties, they're simply not my thing and I have nothing against those who do. However, I would be in favor of something out of the main path and away from scares to give those people what they want.

Seriously? Was that on purpose?

I'm completely in favor of re-theming rides for HOS. Sounds like a brilliant idea.

I remember one year they took the teapot off the teacup ride and put a scary clown in its place. Then had dark coverings around the outside and had blacklights and played techno. It was the highlight of my visit to HOS that year (early 2000s?).

I'd say that's how I feel about Demon Street.

It's little touches like those than can enhance a whole Terror-tory.

I am not a fan of Demon Street's current setup, so I guess I will try to explain. I think I really don't like Demon Street because it completely breaks the "scary" vibe and really eliminates the tense atmosphere I would like to see at a Halloween event.

Alright lemme address my opinions about this whole thing. Since the park pretty much scrapped the whole "roaming hoard/Scare is Everywhere" concept and returned to the whole scare zone concept, that pretty much eliminates the "scary" vibe you would've gotten throughout the park. Those concepts (the hoards) were pretty poorly executed anyway. From looking into Tampa's event, their zombie hoard worked MUCH better because instead of having three huge groups roaming the pathways at a time, you had far more groups of different actors roaming around (looking at the stats, I recall it being around 10 or so). So under the current setup, Oktoberfest, Ireland, and Scotland are pretty much the designated "safe" zones (I'll throw in England too since that area was the weakest of the Terror-tories anyway) and traditionally, those areas seemed to be the designated "party" zones anyway.

Also the park pretty much suffers from short maze/scare zone staffing every year since I started attending the event in 2011. That really ruins the event for me because I can walk through scare zones without seeing a single actor or walk through the mazes with dead rooms where actors should've been. I feel keeping current park employees from hiring onto HOS is also a huge mistake too since regular season employees took up a huge amount of the scareactors working. This would definitely mean bigger staffing issues than before.

So that leaves the DJ. I think the DJ is a good idea, but sticking it in that corner tends to bottleneck the pathway a bit. Moving him to the Bistro deck would be the best option if he stays in France. I think he'd be great over by Grogan's Grill too since that area is open and large enough to have a DJ setup (just remove the tables) and its not directly on the main pathway. Last option would probably be in front of the Festhaus like the Christmas tree show, but knowing how crazy that area tends to get during peak CT, having a DJ over there wouldn't be the best option for the park during HOS.

I just think the demon party as a scarezone idea can work. If a Nightclub can work for a maze, Demons having a party in the burning streets of paris CERTAINLY can work as a Scare Zone. Again, The execution was bunk though.
