-M1]. Male. Principal Role. Singer/mover. Tall, dark, mysterious, and irresistible. He is a sexy and mysterious bad boy with a modern edge. Strong Pop-Rock singer with rock screams and ability to rap. Moves well.
(emphasis is my own.) I'm concerned about this "ability to rap". But maybe that's just me.
This is me saying, please don't rap. That is one of the last things I want.

[NURSE 3] Male. Nurse in Igor’s lounge. Excellent singer with comedic timing. Baritone. Great mover.

I'm guessing the first is for the Globe show/Monster Stomp? I don't remember a male nurse, though. Was that part of fright feast or do I not remember him from Fiends?
Finally, I've been wanting a male nurse for ages. It certainly won't balance out the female to male nurse ratio, but it's a start. Although, chances are it's for the new Fright Feast rather than Fiends. Unless they're completely reworking Fiends to "Igor's Lounge".

3. Yes, I think people will freak out over it (insulting to military).
4. No, I do not think it is actually offensive despite being part of the military demographic.

In reference to BGWScream's post above, there is actually a really awesome laser tag place in the Williamsburg area that does a Halloween event like that (except its with a zombie outbreak and not wendigos).  Was possibly the most terrifying and most exciting thing I have ever done.

Why not do it as private defense group?Like a privately funded heavilly armed personal guard? This scientist who made the wendigo or experimenting on it hired the best and most dangerous of men and women to keep the wendigo in.They failed and now theyre trying to wipe free the evidence and witnesses!

as for the laser tag place, its Tactical Adventure Games (TAG) and its the Infection event all october long. Dfinitely a hidden treasure! Went last year and will definitely go again!

^ *facepalms* the sad thing is, they would do it...

private security contractor mixed with sciencey people would work wonders. Since demon streets has the fire and smoke, do that as well! Have it look like a battleground. If im not mistaken, according to lore, if youre bitten by a wendigo and survive you become a wendigo. Essentially a werewolf Include a lot of The Thing-esque paranoia, and, if they wanted to go extreme... Public execution of the infected/wendigo peoples.(no blood, but using the popping guns and people falling over "dead", just to get back up, and attack a guard, or something like that. A similar thing could be added for outside Deadline.

Heh. You were channeling my thoughts!

Especially with the loss of the beefcake "Monster Stomp" drummers.

OK.  So, I am going to play the deployed to a war zone card.  As a DoD civilian, I spent six months in Baghdad during the Surge.  Yes, I had a weapon and a uniform; no, I am not in the military.  Yes, I came under fire; no I was never injured.

I find this entire idea completely offensive.

First, the idea that scare actors will be dressed as U.S. Troops, is insulting, especially while we are still actively at war.  Essentially, the park in lumping our soldiers in with criminals and monsters.

Second, the basic premise relies on a huge failure at a DoD lab, coupled with appaling site security.  Once again, I find this idea highly insulting.

Finally, just like Porno Nights, I think the use of a military theme is exploitative.  It is a tone deaf, ham fisted attempt to appeal to the local men in uniform and their families.

I guess the need to reuse props from Porno Nights must have outweighed good taste.

You should have heard/seen a group of sailors that saw the faux sailor mixing cocktails during Spangled Days last month. They were less than thrilled and left promptly.

"Art" is a general term meaning the fruits of cultural production, things or activities created for the purpose of providing entertainment, creating beauty, stimulating an emotional response or intellectual exploration. I'm not using "art" as a qualitative term.
Off topic. But when I was commenting about you saying it's "Art", this best explains it.

I seriously doubt the "soldiers" are american soldiers. I bet theyll be secret military/swat/men in black/private security contractor. I think for the most part we should wait until we actually see the friggin product before we judge it. Just because its BGW doesnt its gonna be bad or offensive.Just WAIT.

I can see the danger in using a military theme for this scarezone, but I'm imagining something more like Havoc than Star Spangled Nights. "Military" tends to just mean guns and costume uniforms in haunt-maze talk.

Honestly I don't think it will cause too many issues, the idea of the military trying to stop an outbreak of disease is already widely accepted in mainstream media. The walking dead, the stand, the new TV show by the transformers directer, they all use that theme heavily and haven't run into too many problems with it. I'm not saying it's a good choice by the park, but I think in general there won't be too much outcry. I actually remember seeing a ride (I think it was actually Alton Towers) that was themed after the military trying to stop an outbreak and involved getting yelled at and pushed around by soldiers and lots of military check points, I think it's a more common theme than we may think.

Also, there's a place in Maryland called Field of Screams where you get on a hayride of sorts and shoot zombies with paintball guns with glow in the dark paint.

If they had the money, they could do a maze where guests would get their own "gun" and help out the military in taking out the Wendigos.

Am I the only person who would be seriously uncomfortable with this concept? I mean, I suppose it would fall under the category of, if I don't like it I just won't do it, but I would be disappointed if Busch Gardens went in this direction with one of their mazes. It's one thing to do something like that at a laser-tag or paintball place where shooting things is literally the whole point, but it just seems... inappropriate for Busch Gardens.

With all this military talk, what about demon street? Why do they not have the link up? And changes to it or possibly replacing it?

Apparently there is a double standard when it comes to military themes. It is perfectly okay to have video games, movies, television shows, and other attractions use military force and war zones as themes that actually and vividly depicts US soldiers killing and getting killed, but when it comes to a generic unknown military theme that has not yet been created, no design artwork, no real idea as to the extent of labeling these soliders, no real idea of how they will be depicted and suddenly it is an issue?

Like seriously, don't complain until AFTER you see it for yourself.

^To be fair, PR, I've never liked those military games either. But I don't like first person shooters. The military theme to those games is extremely generic and way over used.

You don't know what the others feel about those games either.

That being said, my concern stems from the fact that KD lost a house based on Mining, because somebody made a big deal about it. Combine that with the fact that BG gave us London Rocks and Star Spangled-Nights. Forgive me if i'm not too keen on the idea of a military themed terror-tory. Wendigo or no wendigo. I think they could have used the area for a different yet similar premise, and it wouldn't have to involve the military.

Games are just one thing. The issue is those games, movies, TV shows, and such do not go through a PR nightmare because of the theme. Note, I did not list specific forms of entertainment like Call of Duty because I know whatever examples I choose, people will find some type of excuse to get around my examples.

Point being, you don't see a large outrage over those things, and to base an opinion on a generic and plain theme just seems outrageous.

I don't mind the concern over a similar outrage that KD went through. That itself makes sense. I don't think there will be a repeat disaster because I can't see the park really defining anything relating to the US in specific and so long as that happens, I don't see anyone complaining.
