Those are two examples that make my point. Rhinefeld's architecture contributed a lot to Vampire Point. Wilkommenhaus was transformed into the Vampire Point Hotel, and the architecture of Rhinefeld also contributed to the atmosphere. I'm not saying that the park shouldn't transform the area, rather, they should use the existing architecture to their advantage. It just seems like they could have picked a better theme.

I would have loved clowns. They don;t need a large budge for them. Drape everything with red and white striped tarps, add red blood splatters via red paint, wait for it to get dark, add the right lighting and a ton of fog and you have yourself the cheapest terror-tory you can get.

No one's saying that you can't do anything that MIGHT offend people.  It's just a good idea to stay away from really hot-button issues and issues that are likely to upset a large chunk of your target demographic.  It doesn't make good business sense to piss off soldiers when the park is KNOWN as military-friendly.  Yes, a lot of clowns don't like the horror thing.  But it's not been a big deal like the KD miner fiasco because no park serves a particularly clown-heavy population.  Instead, clowns just tend to not go to horror events that feature clowns.  Very different from setting up a maze about a mining accident in mining country... I'm not yet convinced the wendigo theme will be offensive, but let's not get on the "People are too PC, now we can't do ANYTHING!" slippery slope joke.  It's tired and untrue.

I totally agree, i was just joking around with David about the clowns. Only a fool would provoke or shame the military, intentionally or otherwise, especially around here.

Ah, but im athiest, and my religion goes by Supernatural-like. The tortured souls of the damned ,when they decide to take the knife and begin torturing others, they become demons.Only lucifer and the arch-demons(Thats a thing right?) are fallen angels. Such as abaddon, lillith, and co.

My friend has family who work in southwestern Virginia's coal mines to this day. He told me that when some of his relatives saw that at KD, they got really mad.

This is what seriously irks me about the whole Miner's Revenge fiasco. They're targeting a haunt event because it "portrays miners in a negative light" when just a few hours away there's a roller coaster themed to a full-on cursed mine collapse complete with fire effects. If people take such offense to mine-themed rides/attractions, you might as well avoid 50% of the theme parks in the country because they have mine-themed attractions (most of which involve some kind of curse or mine collapse to begin with).

Oh and did I forget all the mine-themed video games out there or games that have collapsed mine themed levels?

What about Indiana Jones? He likes going through dangerous mines sometimes? Or My Bloody Valentine? Or even Scooby Doo?

- I swear people are way too sensitive to stuff they shouldn't be sometimes.

I apologize, i was just stating where my original statement about the demons were once people too came from.

There's a difference between "mine accidents" and "miners, killed in mine accidents, are monsters". And KD and Dollywood have different demographics!

I don't know about yall, but I'd like to go back to talking about ALL of the events at HOS. Judge the theme and new Terror-tory once you see it! :)

There was a TV series a while back called 'Fear Itself' that featured one episode all about the Wendigo. I really liked what they did with it. It was more of transforming a man into the Wendigo (not on purpose), rather than some crazy bear/dog/pig looking creature that showed up in the woods. More like a lab accident that went hellishly wrong. Am I on the right track Zachary?

I am 100% behind some male nurses, but please don't change the show name to 'Igor's Lounge'...

Someone made a comment earlier about BG using their current architecture to their advantage when it comes to atmosphere and decor and I agree 1,000%! All of the trees, fences, buildings, etc could very well be more incorporated into a fully immersed experience.

There are a TON of windows in France and Germany on the buildings, why not have a few people hanging out or a jump scare from them every now and then? All I can ever remember seeing in the windows are strobe lights.

Tampa's website has a terribly generic video "sneak peek" of the event up. Nothing interesting. :(

This is an interesting idea. Does anyone know if the windows can be opened?

I went to the park today and saw that 2 tents and 1 or 2 little shacks are up for RoaE. The fence that is on the line side is up and there are lots of plants out. They are also bringing out the white picket fence line things

Look at Vampire Point and Ports of Skull for references to what it looks like without budget.

It can be done, you just have to see it in the dark with lots of fog and some lighting instead of just hearing a small tidbit of a concept.
I don't think Vampire Point is a shining example of a good terror-tory on a budget. Because if you take away Blood Banquet you're left with one little house/shack thing off to the side and decorated windows. And Ports of Skull was a glorified photo-op. With a name like "Terror-tory" It's implied that it's supposed to be terrifying.

In either case, I feel like Zach's coined word of "Scare-atory" works better. Yes it's still England, but it's different enough that it's not same. Old Time-y military would fit wonderfully with the log cabins of New France. Because let's face it. That would take a lot to hide. And no amount of modern military is goin to hide the fact that it's all log cabins. So the modern-ness of the area is lost.

Kinda reminds me of WidowMakers a few years back when they said the lumberjacks were fighting spiders, but in the dark, they can't tell you apart.
I never understood how Windowmakers actually worked, because how can you not tell the difference between something with 8 legs versus something with 2. Even in the dark, shadows and body shapes are gonna be different. (I'm sorry for applying logic to the area.)

Well, first they melt the glass, then they mold it.... :p :p No, really though, it's totally fine. Logic away. Maybe that wasn't some "maple" they just threw on their bonfire. I just meant the concept was applicable in the wendigo scenario. Military guy 'confuses' guest for wendigo. The problem I see is that I could NEVER see BG involving realistic-looking gun props or even gun props at all, especially to scare guests. So following that logic once again gives rise to that pesky, touchy subject: how will the military be portrayed?

To be fair though, confusing a guest for a Wendigo is a little more believable, as a Wendigo can possess human-like features or appear to be human. Meanwhile spiders... Unless these are spider-human hybrids, you're gonna know the difference between something on two legs walking towards you, and a large 8-legged thing crawling towards you at breakneck speeds.

But I do agree with you about the gun thing. I don't think there's ever been a scarezone that used any sort of gun. (Though I could be mistaken.)

Chances are the military will have batons or riot shields. Probably both, so they can hit their baton on the riot shield.
