This isn't pessimism, it's a hypothesis based on existing data.

Really? I've never had a bad time at HOS. Have some elements been better than others? Of course. That is to be expected. But I always love it. I think you are picking and choosing your empirical data to support your hypothesis, because you are unhappy with the park right now.

Always beware of negative halo effect.

A bad day at the park is better than a good day at work!

RE: Howl-O-Scream 2013: Fear Has a Way of Spreading

Let's just put it this way, I found out something about "Hell" which will make me wish I was on fire.

I mentioned this before, but the factors I'm using to come to this conclusion are the following.

A) The main new feature of HoS are the immersive hamlet theming. Proper theming is not cheap, so when you factor in the massive budget problems as well as last year where the park focused on the shows instead of scares, it doesn't paint a pretty picture as far add the big new thing. Not to mention the props are being made like the snail and other animals.

B) More focus on booze this year might translate to more drunk assholes causing trouble. This might mean more money, but it might cause other problems. Factor in the park might be cutting back on security to save money...

C) The park is getting mostly new performers a very short time before the shows. This doesn't mean the performers are going to be bad, but it means less practice.

D) I mentioned the new house, same layout but with pirates. Recycled props making the whole thing cheap.

I still want the event to be good. Hope for the best but expect the worse.

I agree. I know over the years HOS isnt what it once was, but it is still my favorite time of year at the park. And everytime I leave, I want to find a way to come back just one more day.

So I was just told I can confirm this piece of info.

Hell is getting an open air DJ.

Very very very very cheap way to fill a void. Nothing is worse than a dance party.

I would not call this pessimism either. Things are very grim. Unless you are a rube then it is easy to be seen. It has nothing to do with faith when quite a bit is pretty much confirmed as terrible. I mean painting ornaments because they cannot get something better for cannonballs? Really? Local party city has them for cheap.

Well, maybe the DJ will attract the families that remain after dark with the smaller kids so they can dance and have fun without getting scared.
Then if they all stay over there with the dance music our haunted houses could be small children free.
:sigh: We can only hope. :p

This is kind of why I think it's a dumb idea. It's there to pander to a certain group and has nothing to do with scaring people.

There is more to Halloween than scaring people.
