RE: Howl-O-Scream 2013: Fear Has a Way of Spreading

However, try re-reading it but keeping in mind that it is about a DJ party? Things seem to pop out and seem more different than you initially thought?

Examples:

"fiery fiends" ~ 1. evil scary creatures 2. sexy creatures/dancers much like from the show Fiends?

"burning inferno" ~ 1. hot place on fire 2. the song "Burn Baby Burn, Disco Inferno" just pops right at me

"very hot in Paris" ~ 1. temperatures in Paris are high 2. temperatures are rising much like in a club with lots of people moving

"roasted on a spit" ~ 1. painful death 2. as in roasted by a group of friends, family or people for poor dancing or traits, etc. like comedian roasts.

"stay cool or . . . yourself going up in smoke" ~ 1. keep cool or you will burn 2. keep cool and have fun dancing or dance like a fool and mess up

These little bits of context clues depending on how you read them can have dual meanings.
Well, it was fun pretending to have hope. Now I'm going to join Pretzel in thinking this year's HOS will be on par with a psycho wolf and a construction show also seen in the park. Thanks, Party Rocker!

Party Rocker, just so you know, I'm kidding about it being your fault. You're just trying to prove a point about the event. I might be starting to go with Pretzel on this one, but my signature will not be like his any time soon!

I mean come on guys, embrace that adult oriented event. Dance parties with bars and Naughty Nurses, and haunted houses.

I don't think one dance party theme is going to ruin the whole event. I mean, I am going to have fun. It will be an interesting a different thing but in all honesty, I think we will all enjoy ourselves to some extent. You may not love it, but you won't absolutely hate it.

Just using them as examples of what the park "appears" to be going for. I expect male nurses to within the next 5 years.

RE: Howl-O-Scream 2013: Fear Has a Way of Spreading

A) You don't like the term "goofy" because your KK posts made it clear that it's you're thing. Though, you are right, "goofy" isn't the right term, "goofy" indicates that there is some charm to it. Fiends is what I would call "goofy". Twerking is what I would call "god-aweful burn it with fire". That's what would expect with a dance party hamlet in the park. I do love how you think you can be condescending though.

B) Not everybody in that demographic is into what you're into. Not to mention that a 17 to 25 year old who would get excited about an even with demons would probably be more on the "Panera" musical spectrum than Nikki Minaj. Though, if there's club or rap music that deals with demons and hell (this being the obvious exception), please let me know.

C) What you're suggesting is like calling The Lion King, "A revenge story where a prince must avenge his father's death when he was killed by being thrown to savage beasts." While that blurb does summarize the plot of the movie, it neglects to mention Nathan Lane as a singing and dancing merecat. It misleads the customer into thinking a product is something that it's not, simply false advertising.

Welcome to the club!

Remind me to change my "Home Park" option to Kings Dominion when that happens...:s

Tampa also has a couple DJs around the park. I don't know if I liked it, but the area around the DJ was very festive. People were having a great time.

I'm very interested in adult grilled cheese.

I always felt that that was a huge detraction of the a great event at BGT.

RE: Howl-O-Scream 2013: Fear Has a Way of Spreading

Did the music in Tampa have anything remotely related to the theme or was it just whatever the kids like?

From what I recall, there was no through-line. Might as well have been at high school dance.

No, I think you must not understand the term. The term refers to being crazy, ridiculous, or mildly ludicrous. I think Fiends does not fit that term. It has moments where it can be goofy, but I find amusing a better fitting word for Fiends.

As far as a dance party goes, I don't think your term fits there either. I would suggest that perhaps if you replaced your term with something like jocund dance party. That is unless you are a party pooper and just don't enjoy having some fun.

Who said it was what I was into? How dare you assume my personal likes and dislikes. Last time I checked there is a bar, people typically get drunk at bars, when people are drunk their mind goes numb, when their mind is numbed they are typically more loose and less high strung, when some is loose or less high strung they tend to have fun and when you have fun, you are typically partying.

I am not saying everyone is totally into dance parties, but if you look a the reputation of college students and even older high school students, they enjoy loud music and drinking. Other words known as parties.

But the description does not neglect to mention it. It uses choice words that can have dual meanings. There is a difference. You choose your words wisely.

PR, I can see what you're saying about some of the phrases. The rest, I fear, feel like you're just grasping at straws.

I am only pointing out something Nic mentioned earlier, why do Terror-tories need to be confined to just scares? That is the difference between a scare zone and a terror-tory. Through that, I used examples from the park's description of turning a phrase to mean two opposite things. From there, I just started to throw out the extreme examples of what this all comes down to.

My goal was to get some of you to open your eyes and see beyond the meaning you may have originally seen. To get you to think about different things. What really is a terror-tory? Could a description be completely opposite in meaning?

Then I used something from Monty Python that didn't quite work in the movie but could work here. Using the A equals B, B equals C, so A obviously equals C method. If bars are at clubs and clubs have dance parties, then the bar next to/near the DJ spot obviously makes the area have a club atmosphere.

I am not saying I am 100% correct on this, I am just challenging thought and theory. I am asking questions and asking everyone hear to step into that thought process and look at things differently than what they appear.

I just want to say, you're the last person who should be commenting about anything in regards to a "party scene"

I am not trying to comment on the "party scene" too much. I am trying to challenge the members thinking and get people to see things from two perspectives rather than one.
