RE: Howl-O-Scream 2013

Agreed ^ even though the acting was poor, I'm a big fan of clowns, but I thought the theming was great. Sad to see it go.

Fear Fair last year was a decent house that suffered from really poor actors. It was seriously the last night of HoS when they got their act straight.

I remember going on maybe the second weekend of howl-o-scream and I at least saw two of the actors getting a "lecture" from the house manager.

RE: Howl-O-Scream 2013

I had a lot of fun scaring people in Fear Fair. Several of the actors there thought I was this other big guy that worked there for several years apparently. You may remember him; he tended to hang out in one of the open areas outside sitting in a chair to the side. He would stand up and start insulting you and trying to intimidate you. Kinda crude but very funny.
There were at least three occasions when I visited the clowns that they thought I was "Big Rick". So I just played the part. Wearing all black, walking up and down the lines, just stopping and staring at people. Lots of fun!! I also made sure to walk under the cover of a blast of smoke. Imagine seeing this big shadow coming at you from the fog while you are walking with your girlfriends or whatever. I was just a guest like everyone else in line, but because I stick out, people in front of me would turn around, see me and scream. Sometimes it hurt my feelings. Am I really that heinous or something? Dang! Can't a big man have fun walking in a haunted house too without other guests being scared of him?!? Didn't have makeup on or anything. Just big, tall. Maybe the goatee is scary?

RE: Howl-O-Scream 2013

I know this thread is simply dead, but to give a little bit more life to it I am hearing amazing things happening to England. And a few interesting things going on to Sesame Street this year.

RE: Howl-O-Scream 2013

Actually from what I head Sesame Street should be getting some more KIDsiderate Halloween activities as opposed to just decor.

RE: Howl-O-Scream 2013

If their are more kid friendly events to do during the day, maybe they will be out when HOS starts.

RE: Howl-O-Scream 2013

I hope they get a kidsiderate type maze for parents and kids that closes at 5pm. I think kids should have their fun in the day and then us adults take over after 5. Muah ha ha!

Who am I kidding? I'm terrified of Howl-O-Scream.

RE: Howl-O-Scream 2013

In case there was a doubt in anyone's minds (there probably shouldn't have been to be honest), everyone and their uncle is saying Fiends, Night Beats, and Dig it Up will all be returning. Expect the park's time (and money) to be put into park decor and houses.

RE: Howl-O-Scream 2013

^
That is awesome!!! Three strong shows; especially Night Beats.
Naughty Nurses, Disco vampires & a giant T-Rex...what more could you ask?
I know, will the Ulrich from last season return? Hope being a psycho wolf in the Festhaus doesn't dissuade him.

Wasn't there a rumor of a fourth show somewhere?

RE: Howl-O-Scream 2013

I guess this means we are in for some pretty interesting things this year. I honestly am excited to see what type of job they do with park decor and houses especially. Bitten has to go, Fear Fair is gone, and Root of All Evil should be gone as well. At least three major house gone already. Hopefully they can replace each house with Deadline type theme and detail that delivers a good scare. I didn't mind all the decor last year, even if it was up late. So I am not too concerned for this.

But big things coming I am sure. I believe the park is still going to the more ADULTsiderate theme; hopefully they can make that much more clear?

The 4th show isn't due until 2014 in the Globe Theater.

[split] A little tired of Howl-O-Scream...

If I could have any request for Howl-O-Scream is to have more security. There are some really drunk and rambunctious people roaming around the park and I am more afraid of them than of the mazes.

The first sign of "out of line" behavior then they have to go to a place to let the booze wear off. Or they get a taxi home.

"Out of Line" behavior is acting violent, harassing other park guests, falling over, passed out, loudly cursing, etc.

It's a fun event and I enjoy the atmosphere of the park, however, I would also like to feel that the crowds are under control.

As a woman I can vouch that it is NOT cool to be groped or harassed by some drunk guys. If I wanted that- I would go to a bar in Norfolk.

RE: Howl-O-Scream 2013

I have to agree. The park needs to be a lot more aggressive with pulling people out of houses and if need be, removing them from the park. Nothing is worse than walking behind someone in a house or scarezone who spends the entire time harassing other guests or scareactors. They have all this visible security inside the houses but I have never actually seen one of them take any action.

RE: Howl-O-Scream 2013

I've heard stories where scareactors get attacked/harrassed by park guests and don't want to do HOS again. I agree that the park needs to step up security to make it a much safer but still fun/scary experience for everybody.

RE: Howl-O-Scream 2013

If they could create a smaller temporary entrance to AC during HOS the first part of the AC queue would be great for a new house. Assuming the dividers and everything are removable.

Also, the queue for Bitten is huge. Seems like you could extend the house so that it's an interesting indoor outdoor hybrid. You could also extend the house past the usual exit as there is a huge wide path that leads back to Germany. Seems like ROAE could have a great home there while also incorporating something of a haunted forest to tie it to Verbolten. Obviously I don't know as much about this stuff as most of you guys do. Just. A passholder sharing his thoughts.
