RE: Howl-O-Scream 2012 Rumors

I really Don't have a rebuttal for RocketChk. Thing is, is that it was a matter of opinion... but compared to some of the universal scarezones and such, Harvest Hollow stood out, and to stand out among the elite... That's something I wish our HOS would start doing more of, even if my opinion was more of an exaggeration.

I was pleasantly surprised with last Year's HOS. It was great. Only thing I can really think of improving on is the scarezones and some things in the mazes. Most of the Scarezones are tiny and too contained... Stepped it up with props and theme inside of them from other years where they just plopped some guys down in the middle of the path. I think if they treated scarezones as more of an attraction rather than scenery they could bump the game up a bit more... But it was still amazing last year, hopefully they keep it that way it was and build more onto it.

Usually they don't start work on the house till July or August. Perhaps you are mistaken. Not saying it is false but it is unlikely they are working on houses this early in the season.

Also, Fear Fair is still together. Tents are covered up by brown tarps and a fence blocking the entrance with the gate open, of course thats from a trains eye view.

Yeah I saw they were covered up, and the wagon was close the clothes area.

And the reason why I thought(or maybe) they were working on the entrance was because they had the arrow taken down and people were walking around the entrance

RE: Howl-O-Scream 2012 Rumors

It could have been maintenance looking at a few thing, or there is actually an office there, a rather small one but it's there too. It could have been a number of things.

RE: Howl-O-Scream 2012 Rumors

It could be many things, but since my HOS is my favorite event at BG, I really hope they are already working on the houses. If they are already working on the houses they might be bringing up the scare level by adding props and more nooks and cranny's for actors to hide in.

Well I remember going on a HOS social media event once and I believe Phil said they start fixing up houses around mid summer, and then really get into the house in August.

There are also offices beside the bumper cars in Oktoberfest and the moose lodge in New France... I found the moose lodge out because I accidentally walked in there once

So if Fear Fair was not dismantled, does that point to it most likely returning? It was raining pretty hard at the end of my HOS visit last year and we missed Fear Fair all together. Based the descriptions from the forum members, I don't want to miss it this time around.

I think back to when the werewolf scarezone was initially setup on the pathway through Jack Hanna's Wild Reserve and how it was a great place to build the anticipation during the day. I remember how folks became so relaxed to seeing the props and decorations during the day during their pass through. It was a great setup because folks who were new to the HOS event never thought that once evening came those props were now alive and could chase them. It was entertaining being scared as well as watching those getting scared. However, because that path can be a bottleneck, during the next couple years crowds would gather and just hover in that area and watch folks pretty much the entire dark hours of HOS. It got to the point where it was so crowded, NOBODY got a scare. I wonder if there would be a good place in the park where this theory can be expanded on.

Can there be a place where a scarezone can be propped and themed for a relatively relaxed experience during the day with the intention of lulling the population into a false sense of hope? Follow this with a transformation under dark to intense scarezone.... with an observation area for onlookers which will not impede the scare actors and those who want to brave the path? There may not be a perfect place for this, but the observation area could double as the non-scare path for folks as well. This was a great attraction for the original wolf scarezone, but has been lost.

RE: Howl-O-Scream 2012 Rumors

Personally, I feel Busch needs to put their scarezones in areas where they don't want to put their scare zones... They are in pretty bad locations, I agree. I think the whole midway area leading up to, and even around the festhaus needs to be a zone. The little paths they have chosen are not enough for the crowds they get during HOS.

I think the pompeii pathway should be a zone, but some would argue that it is too close to FoF, Which it is... but... I'm not gonna go there right now.

I think the clowns need to get at least half of festa... The bridge is both good and bad for scares, the props in combination with the bottlenecks created make it easy to scare. Problem is, is when there is no one around everyone can see everything and everyone for the most part, making the scares expected.

Widow Makers was the best functioning scarezone imo. Best location, most "scarezone" like. Wish they did more with the theme though... Needed more substance.
