RE: Howl-O-Scream 2012 Rumors

Agreed, if this happens, i will be VERY disapointed seeing as im under 18. I have trouble seeing it though, hhn doesnt have 18+ houses and thats a very mature event. I dont think will be popular with the gp. It wont be popular with parents, teens. In fact it will only be popular with childless adults. Which is probably only 25-35% of hos customers

Then what is it? I was making an estimate which apparently was wrong

The 18-30 demographic is overwhelmingly beyond half of HoS' attendees. They are the repeat visitors during the event and spend the most on food and beverages in the park. HoS should be catered more to them than the family nonsense one of the genius' in management dreamt up after a night at the bar.

RE: Howl-O-Scream 2012 Rumors

I notice ALOT of teens. I go with a group of them being one myself. We always find another group to talk to in the line. There are many adults and unfortunatly families. People under 12 dont belong at hos. Go during the day! That in mind I dont see the point of an 18+ house unless it was upcharge. Then that would make sense. But an included 18+ house? It would just cause longer lines at the other houses and they are long enough as is.

RE: Howl-O-Scream 2012 Rumors

Even I, a teenager, can see that the primary demographic in attendance to HoS is 18-30 year olds. There is no beating around the bush as to who they are and how large of an asset they are in regards to in park expenditures. As much as I would love to not have an 18+ house I see the gain in it for the larger audience. An 18+ house does not seem to be in the works for this year and even if it was there is no love loss.

RE: Howl-O-Scream 2012 Rumors

Of course im against a house that i cant go in! I'd rather have a house i can go in than one i cant! Try to find someone under 18 that would prefer an 18+ house than a regular house. okay, so i was off on my estimation of how many adults go to hos. You may be right that your info is right and mine is wrong but im certainly allowed to have an opinion right?

RE: Howl-O-Scream 2012 Rumors

IIRC Evan just stated he was in his teens and would not be able to go into it. He has no issue with it. A house without teenagers running through it yelling at the actors thinking that they are cool would be amazing.

Yes, there are many teens that go to Busch. I would venture to say that a good number of these teens go from house to house or scare zone rather quickly and don't spend a bunch of down time. For every (1) 18+ on the other hand, you probably have 5 other 18+ sitting down and having a drink (21+ of course) or just relaxing for a bit.

"People under 12 don't belong at HOS"-- Saying this is not helping your case at all. You are essentially saying that it isn't fair for the park to be exclusive with an 18+ house, yet they should exclude 12 year olds?

"It would cause longer lines at other houses?" How? They are ADDING a 6th house according to Zach's info. Yes, if it is 18+ it will be limited, but I will go out on a limb and say that the other houses will have a decent decrease in lines b/c of this new house.

RE: Howl-O-Scream 2012 Rumors

From a numbers standpoint there is no agree/disagree. As far as in park spending goes for those who are within age of purchasing alcoholic beverages, the park needs to extends its offerings geared toward them. As a business move it is very smart and there is no disagreeing that notion. That is not saying that alcohol is the only item, although the profit margin is massive. They are the ones who buy constant snacks, meals, desserts, and other items.

RE: Howl-O-Scream 2012 Rumors

@vtbgwfan: what i meant by people under 12 dont belOng at hos is that many times i see parents forcing kids who obviusly do not want to go in haunted houses in them. If kids dont wanna get scared, hire a sitter. Im perfectly fine with kids who can handle it. But i see infants goin in these thIngs and thats just unneccasary imo

RE: Howl-O-Scream 2012 Rumors

Wow there's alot of bickering. It's seems we have the same discussion for the last two years about an 18+ house. I just wanna say that of course people under 18 aren't gonna be happy about this house and people over 18 will be overly filled with joy. It's common sense, so can we please stop getting so heated over this. And from some of the info that we already have gotten there might not even be an 18+ house this year so yeah. And also, if there WAS gonna be an 18+ house I would be dissapointed also because I am under 18 but I'm not gonna protest against Howloscream because I love it. So guys lets ride the chill wave.

But anywho, I am really excited and hope the info starts coming out soon.

Revealed Hamlet Themes
Nothing really surprising thus far. Vampires in Oktoberfest link perfectly with Bitten and you can expect the "New Show" to, more-or-less, follow suit. San Marco's dig site theme should mesh nicely with the other new show this year, Dig it Up. More details on both of those shows, later.

"New House"
It's in Rhinefield. Have fun trying to work that one out. ;)

Scarezones
They were never that great anyway, were they?

Disclaimer: Though I have confirmation from a handful of highly trusted sources on more or less everything that I'm posting, anything listed is technically still a rumor and should be taken as such. Things change. People get things wrong. Remember that.

Also, I should say that if I'm not posting something (see all the empty areas of the list) or if I'm not answering your question, it's normally because I can't. I'd love to fill in all the blanks and answer everyone's questions with everything I've gathered, but, most of the time, I simply can't. It's not my information. I simply pass along what I can when I can. The source's wishes come first. Always.

RE: Howl-O-Scream 2012 Rumors

So based on Zach's little update on info, I believe the park is going to try to mix "The Scare is Everywhere" with "The Dark Side of the Gardens" this year. I think we may see lots of props sitting around with themed actors to a particular area but there will be no "zones" listed. I really hope they can pull this off. Last time they ditched scare zones I only saw like 3 scare actors in each area and they weren't doing much other than the chainsaw guys which I hope make a return. They did their job the absolutely best. Hopefully they are able to have 5 or more scare actors in larger areas to give a more everywhere and constant feel.

As for the new maze being Rhinefeld, I have that figured out. They can have you enter/exit the maze on the side of DarKastle "technically" still in Rhinefeld, and have the maze squished there on the side of DarKastle and lead into the parking lot and back. From what I've seen, they have the space to make it fit. Hopefully the sound of machinery (mostly from DarKastle) doesn't interfere with the sounds from the haunted house.

RE: Howl-O-Scream 2012 Rumors

But if they have listed zones, they need to be large zones. I have noticed their zones can naturally be longer and extended and be improved upon in that sense yet they have restricted them so much. But I feel they can't handle a scare is everywhere theme because they weren't able to hire and staff enough scare actors to work to where I was able to walk around the entire park and not get scared except for New France. It was very sad.
