It could work well in Festa's possible carnival theme... :D

It would work well in Festa's possible carnival theme! I think the shakey skeleton tunnel would go well in Catacombs if it doesn't remain under Pompeii. It would go well with both themes.

RE: Howl-O-Scream 2011

No new post? Oh well, check out my signature. I just stole it from the Howl-O-Scream Jack is back page. Im going to complain my butt off if Howl-O-Scream is bad this year.

Also I find it how dumb this warning is on their jack is back page. HE LOOKS LIKE ELMO! What they have done is like taking freddy kruger's iconic sweater and knife glove and replace is with a hook and black turtleneck sweater, Then taking the hat off his head and giving him hair... I mean, whose bright idea was elmo jack?

Anyway, im still wondering what kind of event we are getting... 2 more months or so... I cant wait, though I dont want to be disappointed again.

Every year I hear this same debate over and over......

If you want to go somewhere and be scared go here:
Scarefest

Stop expecting to find a scare your pants off Halloween event at a FAMILY theme park.

I'll agree with that completely! The only reason Uni and BGT can go all out is they know that the "families" have somewhere to go with Disney and the Not So Scary Halloween Party. That allows the others to go all out knowing that family complaint will be low due to another option in the area. We here do not have the luxury of multiple parks in the area. In that aspect we MUST cater to maintain attendance.

RE: Howl-O-Scream 2011

I, for one, am glad they don't over-do it on the scares. When I go to these Halloween things (be they hayrides or Howl-O-Scream or what have you), I'm looking to have some fun being a little creeped out and to spend some time immersed in the trappings of Halloween. I definitely do not go to these things hoping I'll be emotionally scarred for life because I witnessed something that I couldn't tell for sure wasn't an actual homicide.

RE: Howl-O-Scream 2011

Yep, you guys are completely right. Because its a family park I shouldnt expect any kind of scary experience at their halloween event. I should only expect sub-par non scary haunts. I'm sorry for expecting to get scared at an event billed as scary.

But really, If they can have a house like "Bitten" Full of severed body parts, bodies, and blood and gore, along with "victim" planting in the lines, Why cant they do legitimate scary haunt? Or two... Or a few... Seriously...

What would actually scare you? It's kids in fake blood. What do you want them to do?

Create a better atmosphere with better themes, more props and better scare tactics. It's really all Im asking.

When I go to Busch Gardens for Howl-O-Scream every year, the atmosphere is the entire thing I love! I don't look for scares, because, I'm rarely scared by anything. Its just great to see the entire park decked out for Halloween, and the scares are OK (from what I see around me.) But you are correct, they make it seem a lot more scary than it actually is.

My biggest problem is that they send in WAY to many people at one time, and far to little time in between. I don't care if I have to wait on a long line, but I want to at least have a good experience when I get in and be somewhat alone with my party.

It comes down to that or waiting a significant amount of time longer. Don't try to speed through it and put some distance on those in front and you are good to go.

RE: Howl-O-Scream 2011

I'll wait longer if I don't have to deal with a backed up line inside. I can see everything coming from a mile away.

So they've got this Eerie Insider Tour this year. Looks like it's just a QQ for the Houses and reserved seating for MSR and Festhaus. It's $50 and limited to 20 guests per night. What's up with that? Wonder if they aren't doing the regular rides/houses QQ like they did in the past for $20? That would suck.

Here's the link: http://me.lt/9I0V6

RE: Howl-O-Scream 2011

They did this last year, but at the festhaus show you got to go backstage and get your face painted. We didn't bring a camera so the mom and son that were also on our tour took our pictures. But they never emailed them like they said they would. :(

It was overall a really cool experience. The reserved seating for the MSR show was stolen by other park guests, so we couldn't sit as close as we expected. I'd be a little wary.

RE: Howl-O-Scream 2011

I never really got quick queue anyway, waiting on a line doesn't bother me, especially that they keep an atmosphere in most lines, especially Catacombs, which keeps you from getting bored.

RE: Howl-O-Scream 2011

Houses:
"13: Your Number's Up" (Europe in the Air Queue)
"The Dead Line" (Under Pompeii)
"Catacombs" (Royal Palace Theatre)
? (Festa Italia)
? (Oktoberfest)

Scare Zones:
"Widow Makers" (New France)
?
?
?
?

Shows:
"Monster Stomp Revamped" (Abbey Stone Theatre)
"Jack is Back" (Ireland)
"Fiends at the Festhaus" (Das Festhaus)

(Blue: Confirmed | Black: Rumored | Bold: New Info)

13: Your Number's Up
I've been told that 13: Your Number's Up will be a phobias-based house featuring a surgery scene, spiders, and a few parts that will play with the emotions of the claustrophobics among us.

The Dead Line
Apparently The Dead Zone has been renamed to The Dead Line due to copyright concerns. This pretty much confirms what we've been told about the subway theme.

PS: We don't mind if you post this (or any other) information to another website or forum, but if you do, please credit the site. Thanks.

How so? I have heard some things about Catacombs and the line but never was able to walk through it.

They themed it really well as a graveyard, some of the statues were actually fake and were people. The lighting is perfect, and they have a light shining right in your face before you go in so you can't see in the dark well. I remember they also had a guy dressed up as a skeleton who walked around in the queue.

RE: Howl-O-Scream 2011

If it includes a backstage bit, I'm thinking about doing the Eerie Insider thing. I mean, it's thirty extra dollars (over Quick Que), yes, but I've been to HOS like 6 years in a row now, and it would be cool to see some behind the scenes stuff.
