RE: Howl-O-Scream 2011

That social media event was really fun last year, and the food was delicious! It was really neat getting to ask him questions and talk with him. I hope they have it again this year!

And? The majority were just contributors to their Facebook and not complainers. It was also a mediated event. Not facebook ramblings.

On that note this thread is not for debating the authenticity of Facespace ramblings. If you want to continue that then feel free to make a thread in Member's Section. Otherwise let's get this back on track.

Just about everything I posted on their wall was in some way shape or form a criticism of HOS. Why would they invite a "complainer" to their event?

And please tell me why I need to make another thread to discuss this, it was bought up specifically relating to HOS. Im not really talking about any other time of the year, just HOS. This debate is bringing activity to this specific thread. It would just be a few random post of speculation until the next data drop.

I close with saying I just think it's crazy to assume no one from the park pays attention to the criticisms on the FB page, especially with how many they got for HOS. HOS was the most flamed thing on the page while it was going on last year. It would just be dumb on their part to ignore...

while I agree with some of what your saying I am one of the biggest hos fans here and I check this thread to see this "speculation" I would rather one or two posts a day of people giving ideas then 5 to 6 pages of arguing... while your points may be valid I don't want to read the same three paragraph post by 4 members because you all have a SLIGHTLY different view

If this were in person, I'd totally be standing up & applauding you right now.

Can the people complaining about off-topic posts please stop making off-topic posts complaining about off-topic posts?

Thanks.

Now, back to the topic... :p (Not that I even agree that Youhow was off -topic in the first place)

RE: Howl-O-Scream 2011

Well, lets talk about haunted houses. Last year we had 6 haunted houses:

1.Bitten
2.Hunted
3.Harvest Hollow
4.Revenge of Pompeii
5.Cursed
6.Catacombs

This year we have 5 haunted houses. Honestly, Harvest Hollow seemed like more of a well done scare zone. So I'd argue that this year we have about the same number of houses. According to some of the rumors, there is a revamped pompeii house, clowns are back, and festhaus park is not touchable. We should be looking at:

1. Pompeii (Revamped)
2. Clown House (Maybe bringing back Last Laugh Industries)
3. Catacombs
4. Cavern of Darkness (Or something in EitA)
5. ?

I think a LLI clone is going to take the place of Cursed. We'll probably see Catacombs back, no real reason to change that. Maybe make it a little longer or make that split point obvious. I'd like to see more mazes where there are multiple paths. Something should go back in EitA, like Cavern of Darkness. Those four make sense to me. The question then is what is the last house's story and where is it going to go?

Also I'd be all for bringing back a Wicked Woods, Masquerage, or a Never After type house/area. My opinion is that they need to put one in Germany/Oktoberfest/Rhinefeld area. Maybe where they do the Santa Claus meet and greet? Kind of a small area, but they could build around it maybe? What about the Festhaus picnic area?

I've been staring at a park map trying to figure out where house 5 could go; I think you're right - the only place left that I can think of is in Festa, but the greater Germany area does need SOMETHING...

Although Cursed may be gone as we know it, I hope the witches resurface somewhere...

RE: Howl-O-Scream 2011

I am all for bringing back Wicked Woods. It was the last fully-themed-to-the-area house to date, and it was amazing. What was so great about it was not its scares, but it's atmosphere. The fear factor in Catacombs and Cursed was great, but you just felt like you were in a maze, not an entirely foreign environment. Wicked Woods was perfect in every aspect, here's hoping it is the fan favorite that will be making a comeback, because quite frankly, thinking back, I can't recall any comlaints concerning WW. MasqueRage was second in theming to WW. While not exclusively "Italian-esque" it did however have that deserted palace feel to it.

Just dreaming here, but do you think a fan favorite could be the train? It would not fall under Haunted Houses, but I guess "spooky features" or whatever they're called. I know we've gone over this several times, how it would disrupt crowd flow, but take a look at the FB wall lately. Almost every post atleast mentions bringing back the Nightmare Express.

Oh and I said it last year, please for the love of Satan (ha I made a Howl-O-Scream joke), change those names. I mean seriously, adding "le" in front of Catacombs would be a sufficient start.

One idea, while very hard, is to make the Log Flume a haunted ride.

One main problem, no where to run - literally. You could easily chicken out of a haunted house and exit through an emergency exit. Where are you gonna go if you get scared on the flume. You can't stop water. And it would take just one scare to send somebody over and jump. Sounds rare, but I could see it happening.

Could work, but it could be a logistics nightmare. Keyword of your statement: enforce.

RE: Howl-O-Scream 2011

Thinking about it, it would be better if it were all special effects and props, still could have potential.

There would also be the issue of riding a water ride in October at night. :x

RE: Howl-O-Scream 2011

The only place I can think of is the first building you get to in Festhause park. There is no were else for a 5th house to be built. I just don't see it. There not going to build one in Sesame Street Land. There not going to build one in the hole of the new coaster. (Even though that would be funny!:D ) Was Deadtime Stories a favorite? I'm not sure because that year I worked Howl O Scream and didn't have time to go through any of the mazes.

RE: Howl-O-Scream 2011

I still think they should put a maze where the boats are, its out of the way. And it could be really awesome, swamp monster or zombie theme, whatever works.

I was thinking the same thing but they could have some people who want to go down there but having to get back up to the rest of the park would be torture for some people

RE: Howl-O-Scream 2011

I wish we could have another house in England! I don't know where in the world it would go, I just think it would be great!

RE: Howl-O-Scream 2011

I've always LOVED the thought of doing something with the boats. As for the log flume idea, i could see it being used as something for the kids. Some props, lights, plus the drop at the end would be great, and it may steer the parents away from bringing them in the houses.

The theming in Wicked Woods and Masquerage were SUPER and every house should be brought up to that! It wasn't all about scares, the surroundings and attention to detail along with the scares made them great!

I would love to have a maze where you have the option of going in alone :D
