How do I talk my dad into taking me to HOS? He's trying to take me to Kings Dominion Halloween Haunt because its closer, but from what I've heard HOS is better, so I want to go to HOS.

Im not really biased towards either park. I love them both in their own ways. In fact Im a member of two BGE fansites and one KD fansite...

I promise the haunt isnt only scarier but, better than Howl-o-scream... If I had to choose between the two, go with the haunt...

The haunt's scarezones are far better executed... Last year for BGE was so horrible... BGE has better scenery inside the houses, but there is almost no gore, no blood, they let lines inside the houses stack horribly... Kings dominion lets a group in every minute or so and it staggers the lines pretty well. went into almost every house without running into people from the front group. Also they fog most of the park after dark, so not only can you ride the coasters in the dark, alot of them are foggy. Grizzly and Dominator are amazing in the fog, so is hurler... I cant even imagine intimidator in the fog...

Anyways, kings dominions scarezones are filled with actors and props. Busch gardens in the past has had problems with both.

Kings dominion delivers pure scares, and is not afraid to use more adult themes in their houses and more adult roles with their actors. Although Busch does better themeing inside their houses and have better scenery and props, KD makes the best use with what they got... busch just screws around with what they have. They could be so much better than what they are.

Give the haunt a chance dude. Busch is the better park for the most part, for the majority of the year, but kings dominion OWNS Halloween.

Busch seems to be much more tentative about their HOS activity. They know that they are a family-friendly park. I think Busch hesitates to do anything that would cause backlash from families about gore, horror, or overall fright factor. Frankly, I can't blame them. If a family takes a visit to KD, they know it's more teenage heaven and likely to be more frightening, but they don't expect that at Busch. I'd be surprised to see HOS take a direction like the Haunt. I hope that HOS is scarier and superior this year as promised, but I think it would be foolish to do anything like the Haunt. Just my two cents, though.

All sounds like pretty good reasons to drastically change how Howl-O-Scream in Williamsburg scares people this year, eh? ;) I, personally, look forward to a review in November. :)

There's always a good reason to make HOS or any other event better than the year before! :)

I wonder who has the higher October attendance?

I wouldn't be shocked if KD had the higher October attendance, but I'm pretty sure BGW has the higher overall yearly attendance.

I was 99% positive, but I didn't want to jump to conclusions. Do you have a monthly breakdown, though, Swift?

Nope. All I know is that BGW was #17 on the top 20 list in 2009 with a total of 2,900,000 people and that Kings Dominion wasn't on said top 20 list.

I don't think KD makes any positive top 20 list, with the exception of most coasters in a park and a tallest and fastest coasters list (Intimidator 305).

Please don't post the obvious. We all already know this. Though I understand your frustration, the last thing we need is a forum telling everyone that the site isn't up yet. Don't take this personally, I just don't want this forum to derail... Again.

I havent derailed the forum at all. Everything I've posted in here has been about HOS or Halloween which is what the HOS event is about.

It's not off topic, but it is extremely redundant.

Swift, chill! :s

Anyways, I'm excited that todays the last day until they are open for weekends only.
That means we're getting closer to Howl-O-Scream, and it means that a lot of work will now be done.
And hopefully... sooner to the website coming up?
