BGT has a Rock'nRoll theme going this year. Just out of curiosity, if you could create a Howl-O-Scream theme for the BGW, what would YOU choose it to be?

I'll tell you mine if you tell me yours. :D

I think that a theme like Halloween Horror Nights has would be really cool.
With the haunted houses and scare zones based on movies, that would be awesome.
I really hope they do it up this year! :D

I disagree, HHN is great at what they do- leave the movies up to them.

I think that HOS should be based more off of legends from the countries that the houses are found in. Fates in Festa, Big Bad Wolf in Germany, etc. There are plenty to pull from.

I thought last year did a pretty good job of this.

Last year was good, too, nothing against it.
I just think that changes are good, and I want it to be different this year- something that BGW has never done before. :shy:

I thought the outdoor area(s) called The Beaten Path in 2008 and Harvest Hollow last year were the best HOS attractions ever, though Wicked Woods is/was great and the previously (underrated imo) Salty Dog Cemetery was superb as well. Whatever theme they choose for this year, I hope they keep at least one or two intense outdoor areas, plus the less-intense scare zones right along the main walkways (the ghostly Highlanders were a lot of fun last year too). Personally I just enjoy the outdoor attractions more, they capture my imagination better. On The Beaten Path in 2008 I was there at dusk and with the monsters/zombies coming at me in the fog while it was still light enough to see a lot of details of the goons, it just didn't take much imagination at all to really feel immersed in an eerie, spooky world.

The indoor houses so often go for the loud noises, the air horns and chainsaws etc., that I tend to find them more annoying than frightening! I'm sure I'm in a minority of course on that score but I wanted to throw that point out there. Maybe it's a little similar to my losing all desire to ride Intimidator 305 when I heard and read all the reports of riders "greying out." I just don't find the thought of losing consciousness fun. I want to go high and fast and smooth but if semi-consciousness is fun I could just ask someone to whack me over the head or something (there would probably be plenty of volunteers lol)! Similarly, I don't find being blasted with a loud noise scary, just intensely irritating!

I'm ready for HOS and cool HOS fall weather~!

Yeah, I loved the Beaten Path, too, I DO hope that they do something like that this year.
I loved the big, tall scary guys, especially that one man, he had on like leather jackets and stuff, and long dark hair, when I asked him how tall he was he said 7 foot. :O
The fog was really cool too, like you were saying, but I still loved the indoor houses.
The Never After, wasn't it? Yeah.
That was really awesome.

The clown theme that was in festa a few years ago was the scariest hos attraction. At least according to my girlfriend. Haha.

Any day BGW should release info on there website. I would think there won't be that many new attractions because so many new ones in 2009.

That was, like, really scary.
One girl in 2008 or 2007 broke her leg from falling down and getting startled from a clown, and another broke her arm from hitting the side of the bridge, I was there for both, and the clowns took off their masks to help, ambulances came and all, it was really scary for two reasons.
I think that's why they took it away last year.
I wish they would bring it back as well though, because despite those two rare incidents, it was a pretty well put together attraction, and it did have the most people screaming.
I read on facebook a few weeks ago from a former scare squad worker about why it isn't as scary as it used to be, say from 2002, 2003, 2004, when they had the chicken and the chain saw, the gorilla with the bars, the headless horseman, etc., here's what he had to say.

"I used to work Howl-O-Scream, so here's my 2 cents:

The year before I started, on the train there was a back-woods hillbilly set where there was fake moonshine & fake shotguns that, by its very nature, looked very convincing. Someone called A-B Customer Care IN St. Louis (that is, the corporate headquarters) and complained (and threatened to sue, claiming it damaged her 5-year-old daughter).

Ever since, we've not been allowed to have that nor have we been allowed to jump out and try to "startle" you from the pathway bushes.

This is also why the chainsaws are gone.

I could go on, but I'm having difficulty remembering what else had to go."

Now that it's owned by Blackstone (Universal), they don't have the threat, and that's why I think it will be extra scary this year, I think it's going to be a totally different HOS, or at least I hope! :)

That "Chicken-Riding Man with the Chainsaw" was the man! He got a ton of good scares in that year. Good times, good times.

Lol, yeah, bet so.
But I did find Some stuff that was updated just yesterday on the wiki page, here's what it said.
" (Sept. 24 – Oct. 31) Celebrating 12 years of fears, Howl-O-Scream, the park’s premier Halloween event, features 13 attractions starring vampires, werewolves, witches and skeletons. Guests are immersed in an elaborate Halloween atmosphere including haunted mazes and Halloween-themed shows. The park is kicking it up a notch in 2010. Beware. Nowhere is safe. Howl-O-Scream opens Sept. 24 and continues every Friday, Saturday and Sunday through Oct. 31. Check out www.howloscream.com for the latest information. "
Interesting still, but I can't wait to find out about the bigger deets on the website soon!
13 attractions? Didn't last year have 15 attractions?
Hopefully they'll be taking away the less popular ones and making the good ones longer or so.
We will just have to wait and see!

I agree with Wings. I wish they would, but I highly doubt it. It is their new ride for this year, they aren't going to close it during HOS.

Oh! I didn't even think of that.
Darn, I really liked Cavern Of Darkness.
I hope they do have something great in replace of that somewhere else in the park, and I hope they take away Catacombs, I didn't think that one was as good as the rest.
Aren't they supposed to have Hay Rides this year, too?

CoD has zippy chance of being around this year in my estimation since EITA is brand new. I know back just after BBW had been removed with the station intact, there was some guessing that it could be used as a house. I think it's probably doubtful at this point since there will surely be some construction activity in that area during HOS.

I think Catacombs will be back. It actually seemed to be the consensus favorite last year. It was short, but it was a new house in a new location. They'll have something in there, it's just wasted space if they don't.

I really liked the Rockin' Eve's Countdown that they had there several years back, I thought that was really good.
Yeah, Catacombs was fine, it WAS scary, I did scream (haha), but in my opinion, the scariest was Bitten/ Hunted/ Harvest Hollow and COD.
I wish they'd bring back Neverafter, though, really. That was my all time fav.

In my opinion, Catacombs was, by far, the best.

I feel that since many people thought it was short last year, they may figure out a way to extend it. I think it would be useful to use the stage as well, they could make a big wide open room where you have to find your way out. While being chased by the Neon Skeletons from Monster Stomp at last HoS. They could put a big black drape over the stage to cover it. This would be a great use of space, and it would also be scary.

Yeah ... A few things got in the way of launching the site as planned "this weak" (the bad pun I was trying to hint at previously in post #58). Hopefully now the new wording will prevent a few questions and comments that were streaming in to the park these last couple of weeks. Besides, a few people here were starting to get a bit anxious. I'm joking, sort of. :D Sorry guys. Soon!! :s

I didn't really like Catacombs too much because when I went through it was short and over crowded. I thought Bitten/Hunted was the best. Nice long walk through bitten. A "break" on the outside. Then into werewolf territory. Those big werewolves were pretty scary looking as well.
