RE: In-Park Music

That hoops game atrocity was playing a dance version of YMCA last week. I guess I never noticed the "Hooked" tunes there before. Perhaps it was more obvious since it was so loud. And no, I'm not getting too old. :p

I think the park stepped away from its pre-industrial roots when it built Le Mans Raceway and the Aeronaut Skyride.

- The skyride should totally be removed because it doesn't fit the pre-industrial theme.

You can't be serious. And replace them with... horse & buggies? April Fools!! right?

Nora, I love the sky buckets too. Relaxing, great views, nice to ride with a loved one.

I've explained this before: each hamlet was designed as not only separate countries but also separate time periods - somewhere I have a pre-opening press release letter that indicates this, and I'll scan it when it's located. Aquitaine was intended to be turn-of-the-last-century France, hence the raceway, hot air balloon skyride sign, and the original streetmosphere characters dressed as Victorian ladies and nuns.

The bumper cars, Verbolten, the train, Europe in the Air, the airplane kiddie ride, and Alpengeist don't really fit any pre-industrial themes either.

- We should remove all those and replace them with pre-industrial stuff.

This argument again? :dodgy: Sheesh.

Look, obviously, there are no roller coasters in pre-industrial anything. We get it. Every time somebody doesn't like something not "fitting the theme" people come in and act like because there are flushing toilets in the bathrooms, the park theme doesn't matter and really, anything goes. Come on.

To site one very popular example, they serve Pepsi at Medieval Times. Does that mean the Knights should start riding around on dirt bikes instead of horses, and jousting to Motorhead songs? Or maybe they should go the other way and stop serving Pepsi, and light the arenas with torches? No US dollars here, good sir, we only accept gold coin or animal pelts.

You make some modern adjustments and feature some modern conveniences. That's not breaking the theme. But music = atmosphere. If I'm in the Killarney, I should hear, at the very least, Irish folk music. There's no excuse for the Cranberries or YMCA. We should all at least agree on that.

I'd actually pay bags of gold coins and animal pelts to see motocross knights jousting by Torch light;)

- New show in the Globe for 2014, Motocross Metal Jousting Knights by Torch light.

I let a lot of things the park does go, but hamlet music is my biggest pet peeve. As a child BGW instilled a love of classical music in me and it hurts my soul when I hear out of place music in the park.

RE: In-Park Music

As far as Festa goes, they have carrousel music, the 3 Point music is music meant to get guests playing pumped up and in the mood to play basketball, so YMCA makes sense. The fact that it is so loud is so that they can get your attention and get you to play. Festa is just a mess in general and needs a good hard renovation and possibly re-theme to make me satisfied.

As far as Beatles in England, I loved them! I love hearing the Beatles mixed in with the classical music. I thought it all worked together to bring fond memories for me at least.

Ireland does need some river dance music and such, I don't mind the occasional cranberries though.

Keep in mind Scotland has always been boring and depressing bagpipes.

Illuminights must really get on some people's nerves when the switch the music :p
