RE: In-Park Music

But can Cedar Fair or Kings Dominion pursue legal action if they wanted to?

EDIT: I would assume they didn't pay for royalties considering the mess with Mix It Up.

RE: In-Park Music

No, if they pay the royalties to Peanuts, they will be fine, no one else has the right to pursue legal action except the company itself, Peanuts. Cedar fair bought the rights to use the peanuts theme in the park, they didn't buy Peanuts itself, like BG paid to play the Peanuts song in LOD.

I could see them not paying for a song they play themselves, and in a show, but when there is a song they are playing that is a direct product from a company, and they play it on the main pathways throughout the day, I would assume they would pay royalties.

RE: Hamlet Theme Music

So I'm a relatively new member to the forum, but nonetheless I have the same passion for this park that we all share. I very much appreciate everything this forum brings to the table.

I know this thread is old, but I thought I would update the elusive Kilarney section of the park, for which I have a decent list of what is played.

Kilarney:
Cranberries - Let It Linger
Bill Whelan - Caracena
Bill Whelan  - Slip Into Spring
Ronan Hardiman - Siamsa
Luka Bloom - You Couldn't Have Come At A Better Time
Gaelic Storm - Hills Of Connemara

Still working on finding more :D

RE: Hamlet Theme Music

Thank you! It doesn't matter how old this thread is, it's still relevant. Is this current 2014 music or is this the original hamlet music cira 2001?

RE: Hamlet Theme Music

It is definitely 2014 music (playing in the park today), but to my knowledge most of these songs have been around since Kilarney's inception in 2001.

I know this is a long shot. But, are the Celtic Fyre backing tracks out there anywhere? I love the show with performers. However, I liked hearing the "soundtrack" on the Celtic Dyne videos in the ride queues. It is just such cool music. This wouldn't be so much the traditional live tunes they do with instruments. This would be the music written for the show. Like the one used in the last dance sequence of the show.

Doesn't hurt to ask, right?

Unless you could persuade Gary Lensenmayer or Colm Ó Foghlú (the composers) to email you the music, there is no other way I know of.

Thanks COS. I know how copyright and licensing works, but thought I'd ask. With a Lady of the Gardens mp3 floating around and things like Illuminights CDs, I thought I'd at least ask.

(Hint to BGW: It's something I would buy if sold at the park instead of all those commercial CDs in Emerald Isle).

I think I can shed some light on this situation. As I am sure you're aware, the Celtic Fyre track is a BGW arrangement of many previously existing songs. While I don't have the actually backing tracks they use in CF, I have been able to figure out the songs they use. Enjoy:

Celtic Fyre Skeleton

Steven Pasquale, from A Man Of No Importance - The Streets of Dublin
Celtic Women - I Am The Voice (There are loads of versions of this song, this is my favorite)
Malarkey Brothers - Finnegan's Wake (Same as above, just my favorite version)
The High Kings - The Parting Glass (Ditto)

Hope this helps!

Matthew, That's how it should work. But, what happens at the end of the day, is another story entirely.

PR, I think it's more up to the ones who actually own Peanuts, not Cedar Fair or KD.

If the song isn't registered with ASCAP or BMI (or one other smaller company, forgot the name) then the royalites would be paid directly to the owning company and they'd probably have to get permission to use it. If the song is registered with ASCAP or BMI (only one, can't be both) then the parks blanket license covers the use of it however the park wishes to use it.

RE: Hamlet Theme Music

I do not believe that all of "Bachbusters" or "Beethoven or Bust" is played in Festa, but all of the lists that say "Circa 2001" were provided by the park itself.

Noone has been able to identify the looping track on Apollo's Lift, it is believed to be a custom track written for the ride though.

RE: Hamlet Theme Music

Can someone post the name of the song played by Pompeii from Romeo & Juliet (I think).

Thanks.

RE: Hamlet Theme Music

The audio around Pompeii is probably my favorite audio in the whole park. Recently though, the park has been making a lot of changes to their hamlet music. While I think it's nice to have fresh music, I think the old music was better and more authentic. I hope this doesn't happen to Pompeii's area, but currently the only hamlets to have their audio changed recently is New France, Killarney, additional music to the existing audio of Aquitaine, that Frank Sinatra crap over by Il Teatro Di San Marco, and the most obvious is Banbury, which I absolutely hate, but I think we all already know how I feel about that.

RE: Hamlet Theme Music

The food and wine festival music somewhat bothers me. In some areas, it takes up the entire area, ruining the theme. In general Busch Gardens is great with sound design. When you walk from one area to another, there isn't very much sound leakage if any. It is almost like a video game. Some areas, however, like New France, have very few sound channels. For that reason, the music takes up basically the entire area. Italy, Ireland and most of Germany have many sound channels. The music isn't really a problem there. As far as regular season, the change (other than Banbury) that bothers me the most is New France. It only has about three songs, ant it sounds more like Irish or American Civil War-era music.
