If the park follows their trend from last season, the Halloween Haunt 2019 lineup should be OFFICIALLY announced today. I will keep my eyes on the website throughout the day and will analyze any changes from the “leak”, though I’ll actually be surprised if there are any.

App and website times don't agree. Is there even a Haunt first Sunday? There hasn't been one any year that I recall.

Starts Saturday, not Sunday
I think he meant that the first weekend of Haunt was just on a Saturday (maybe Friday night too - usually a rehearsal night - for family and friends to attend). That Sunday of the 1st Haunt weekend was a regular park day (Noon-8:00 pm - no Haunt). The calendar above shows Haunt hours for the 1st Sunday as well.

Yep that what I ment. But curiously the app show them open till midnight EVERY SUNDAY I know that can't be right.

I just went by the Haunt calendar on the main KD web site. It appears the 2019 Haunt is starting 1 week earlier than normal and that ALL Sundays, from 09/22 onward, follow the Haunt close of 10 PM. The park is doing Haunt Friday-Saturday, 11/01-11/02 (Closed that Sunday).

Going to be pretty tight with flipping from Haunt to Winterfest this year.

No new house. Mindbogglingly disappointing.

I completely agree that the lack of a new house is a little disappointing, but I have a feeling that this is going to be a huge year for the park.

Two new scare zones that for sure will have amazing decor, and since much of the Haunt money won’t be soaked into a house, this would be a good time to make these scare zones REALLY fantastic and maybe even add some additional decor throughout much like the Grand Carnivale decorations.

The fact that the Overlord is being beheaded is a giant risk for the park. I have a feeling this new storyline is going to lead up to something massive. Can’t wait!

How is the Overlord being beheaded a big risk for the park?
Couple ways. First and least is it's right near the entrance exit to the park families might still be leaving this is a big step up in the nature of the event. Two see te backlash BGW got for severed heads a few years back actual mock beheading ar likely to draw that and more. Personally I saw no issues with the severed heads but have to admit that the description of this makes me slightly uneasy but I will withhold judgment till I see how it's actually done. Scary things are part of Halloween and dark and often grotesque and even violent things are to I am just not sure that this isn't pushing it a little to far but again won't judge that till we see how it actually plays out.

Beheadings in general could be a bit risky because its a bit more violent than what we’re used to seeing during a Haunt show out in the open. Beheading the icon of Haunt in favor of a new one just adds to the risk.

Even though I say this, I LOVE the idea! I’m super curious how it’s gonna all play out! Queen Majesty better be a super grand character that is actually worth replacing the Overlord with.

Found this little snippet in the definition of the Masquerade scare zone.
"Part party, part scare zone, guests are invited to mix and mingle with the height of the undead high society and those 21 and older can dare to try the specialty cocktails. Be sure to grab a selfie with the Duke and Duchess, but beware; sometimes the mask is there for a reason."

Uh oh.

This reminds me of a hybrid of 2013 HOS combined with 2015 Haunt and that is a terrifying thought to think about. Haunt thrives off of his it's creepy park wide atmosphere, it doesn't need to copy what the park down the road tries to attempt every year. This feels like a massive step back from some of the newer work the park has been doing with additions especially following up The Yard last year. I imagine the zone will still have some great scenery, but I'm very concerned about how this will play out.

I’d share that concern if it were going in any other location than where it’s going. The base of the Eiffel Tower has always had a techno, party-like vibe because of whatever show is playing at the Bandstand. I don’t think this scare zone will cause a dramatic shift in the event’s overall atmosphere.

Man, no new houses at either park... This better just be a gap year, cuz that's... rough.

I have to respectfully disagree on this one. I would argue that last year was a gap year for KD due to WinterFest being the main focus. All they did was turn the lights off and renovate one room in Condemned and The Yard was just an outdoor extension of Lockdown. While both attractions were impressive and successful, there is a LOT more being offered this season at the park, with three of the new attractions playing into a cohesive theme that will change the overall feel of Haunt.

I’m 50/50 on this one. I agree when you say that this one zone won’t shift the overall feel of Haunt, but I DO think the combination of Heads Will Roll, Masquerade, and Blood Reign as one WILL change the feel.

For Masquerade, I think the park is capitalizing off of the success of Grand Carnivale’s dance party. Over the summer, people seemed to be having a lot of fun in that area, so it only makes sense that they try to make more money with a similar thing for Haunt. I wouldn’t be surprised if WinterFest’s Coke Polar Party was tweaked a bit to make it a bit more successful. With that being said, I hope the actors in Masquerade scare more than pose for pictures.

As for the three attractions together, I love the cohesive theme that is being created in the Eiffel Tower area. The Queen gets mad at the Overlord and takes over the event, resulting in her beheading monsters and throwing an extravagant party to celebrate her newly-achieved reign. I loved seeing the Overlord walk around the park for almost 10 years now, but I think it’s time to shake things up with the new main character. I’m hoping this creates a new overall feel for Haunt that can make things even more lively than ever. I hope it creates a feel of uncertainty in the air that will keep us all on our toes.

I do sort of agree. The loss of Zombie High without a replacement sucks, but at least Haunt is adding SOME new stuff, unlike HOS...
