I'd personally be very surprised if the themed bar doesn't return. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if they added more.

Well, the bar's theme was connected to Club Blood, which is not returning. I'm hoping the bar gets the stake along with it, but I wouldn't be surprised if it came back, just a little disappointed.

Am I the only one who sees "Fangs" being at the Grove Stage this year as an experience...I think that will be the themed bar or is that just a mistake? lol If so....Kinda lazy to not think of a better name after that has been one of the greatest shows ever to exist at Haunt...

I'm an idiot and didn't read the full description for Unstrung. It is out in front of the theater again, which is annoying.

Smooth, I was wondering the same thing. Very confused if it is the bar or if they're bringing back the show. Reading it again, it could very well be the bar, which is irritating. I don't get the idea of making this into a party. Just stick to the basics of scaring people. But as can be seen by the GIGANTIC, SUPER AWESOME, AMAZING announcement KD made today, this forum is clearly not the target audience of KD.

Based on yesterday's announcement, I assume KD will replace the "NO BOO!" lanyards with "BOO!" lanyards. Now, you must pay the park extra if you want to be scared.

Ha! That's pretty funny Joe. But the park IS still encouraging that families enjoy Haunt festivities 'earlier in the day' through their advertising.

For now, Maz, for now... :p

Anyway, as excited as I am for the two new mazes (which both sound very promising), a lot of my enthusiasm is killed by the return of Unstrung and Tollway Terror.

I honestly can't believe that KD is bringing back Unstrung. I don't really care about the show itself; if they stuck it inside the theater, I wouldn't mind at all. But from a crowd-control standpoint, Unstrung is a disaster. With the stage wedged along a narrow pathway and pushed right up against the queue for the slow-loading Tollway Terror, it's virtually impossible to move through the area before, during, or after showtime. And as icing on the cake, the loud pop music and colored lights obliterate the creepy atmosphere of neighboring Necropolis.

And Tollway Terror. Sigh. My disdain for this pathetic excuse for a "maze" is well-documented in Haunt 2015's thread. I think it can be somewhat salvaged if done right, however. Rather than use Party City animatronics and country music to try to be "scary" like last year, I think the park should dim the lights, play spooky forest noises, and try to make the ride just an eery sensory experience. It wouldn't be perfect, but it would be an easy fix to the biggest embarrassment of 2015.

On a brighter note, I'm ecstatic about the return of Overlord's Resurrection. I actually did like how the speech in 2015's Overlord's Scaremony mentioned each scare zone by name, but the voiceover was so monotonous that it made the entire show feel lame.

Likewise, I'm excited about the demise of Blood Drums. The show played at Haunt year after year, and it was getting stale. A Louisiana brass band sounds like an excellent replacement, especially since it's on International Street where the music won't really harm the creepiness of any scare zone.

Haha! In all honesty, all the backlash KD is getting was expected! Even if they announce something in the future (as some people expect) poor marketing decision once again. I currently just moved to California, but I like to keep up with the event to see if I should come back home to visit but even the new mazes aren't original or spectacular to me...

I've experienced Trick or Treat at Knotts and the most important factor is to have everything on point (Sets, Scareactors, and Scares) or it will look very tacky!

As far as Blackout I'm curious to see how it will turn out! I'm glad they are taking "risk", but I hope it turns out to be something impressive than a 99% dark maze with creepy halloween music..Adding fears could enhance the theme..

Future Plans..
NEW SCARE ZONES !! No Boo Lanyards...I just don't understand...In hopes of Dinosaur Alive to be completely scrapped and some renovations to bring back mazes to WWC! The last two great attractions those areas have seen is Blood Shed (Grizzly) and Blackbeard's Revenge (WWC)!

And we all can forget about Blue Ridge Tollway because it will never get any better haha

I expect great things this year for Haunt as always, but certain things need to be tweaked..

Ever since seeing that Tollway was back, I've been waiting for Joe to jump on it, so thank you for that, Joe. Makes me laugh every time.

Tollway is just a punchline at this point and I'm not expecting many changes to it all. Counting it as a maze is pretty misleading. If they just advertised it as the cars with some Halloween stuff thrown in, that'd be fine. But it is definitely not a haunted maze.

I agree that the speech mentioning each scare zone was a nice touch. The content of the speech was fine, but the voice sucked. I feel like a change in voice really wasn't needed, so I didn't get why they did that. A return to a creepier voice would be great.

I don't mind FANGS returning because I like to enjoy a drink while traversing the park but either cut the music down or turn it off.

As promised, here's the latest Busch Dominion article. There's a handful of photos of Haunt construction, as well as an overview of what's new for Halloween Haunt 2016. Enjoy!

Halloween Haunt & #KD2017 Update - BuschDominion.com

Thanks for that, Joe. I always enjoy seeing photos of Haunt construction, even when there isn't too much to show. Seeing Dodgem be converted is just a nice reminder that the Halloween season is only about a month away.

I'd like to know more about the Bone Collectors. I get that they'll be roaming the park, essentially a Haunt version of the Clown Band, but I'm wondering about this ceremony thing that they'll be doing. Could be a pretty cool addition. Is this something that is unique to KD or has it been done at the other CF parks?

Has anyone found out more about how Blackout will work or what the theme is? Trick or Treat looks pretty cool based on the Kotts videos, but I'm extremely interested in Blackout.

Isn't it more exciting to show up at the park and be 'surprised' by the new mazes and their content? There are so few surprises these days.

I can generally appreciate that, but I'm just talking about a haunted house, not the gender of my child or who Negan killed.

Sometimes I agree, but then what do we have these forums for?

Just as a reminder, anyone can hide spoilers in a post by using the code
anything that might give away too many tricks
.
Of course, that's without using a bold font. It's a polite way to keep the conversation going this time of year.

Hmm, last night, I had someone comment on my video of Tollway Terror from last year indicating that attraction would finally be staffed with actors again this year. Truth? Troll? Who knows. What I DO know, is that is a sorry excuse for a "maze" without actors.
