At least we waited a lot longer for this one to start. Even though summer just began, I can't help but to look ahead to my favorite time of year in the park, which is Halloween Haunt! We should expect to hear about the new additions within the next month, but before that happens, let's speculate!

During Halloween Haunt 2015, we lost Outbreak and gained Lockdown. We also saw a re-theming of Blue Ridge Bloodbath to Tollway Terror, which was panned by just about everyone. We also saw the introduction of the "No Boo" necklaces, which ticked off monsters and guests alike. Correct me if I left anything out.

Any guesses for what's on the chopping block for this year? We have seen that picture floating around online of the gutted Slaughterhouse building, but do you think something will be put in its place or do you think something new will be put in a different place?

Also, any predictions for new additions to Haunt or what you would like to see? Let the speculation begin!

In my opinion, the scariness just isn't "in tune" with what the masses want. I think KD would be better suited with continuing the progress of 2015, by adding more noisy bars, flashy lip sync shows, and karaoke. HAUNT will now stand for "Hot And Unruly Nighttime Teens" to appeal to this new and improved demographic. Those "other people" who think they like to get scared don't know what they want!

Oh, and every guest should get a free No Boo lanyard, because you wouldn't want anyone to get scared!

You know Kings Dominion can't go out and offend the masses and have a particular maze get shut down. I went to both Haunt and HoS last year and I hate to say but HoS was way better. The atmosphere was somewhat better @ BG than Haunt and I usually preferred Haunt over HoS in the past. I would think that Club Blood and Slaughterhouse would be on the chopping block this year and Doll Factory in the next few years.

^Sadly, I think that's true. It might be even more sad if it wasn't true. I honestly think it was a bad idea for them too invest so much on such an old house. With little extra, they could have marketed it as a new maze or a sequel.

That house still stands firm. Meanwhile, Doll Factory was starting to look flimsy, and No Vacancy remained mostly the same. I personally don't care too much about what happens to CornStalkers, but to each their own.

I think the park has a big problem between "stale" houses and lackluster atmosphere. I think it would be a wonder for all of that to be fixed in one season. I might even have to give KD the spirit stick vs. BGW if they can do it. I personally hope they can pull their own form of wizardry this season.

I don't think club blood is going anywhere. They just built a new facade for the queue.

I was thinking the same thing about the amount of money put into the facades for all of the mazes. My guess is that there will be one new maze this year and it will be where slaughterhouse was. I also think Primevil needs to go.

Please keep me honest, but it seems like Doll Factory and Slaughterhouse have gotten the least amount of makeovers the last couple years. That makes me think one of those two are on the chopping block. Personally, I'm a fan of both, but if one of them had to go, I'd say scrap Slaughterhouse. I've always loved the energy level of the actors in the house, but I will say that the gross out factor doesn't tend to work for me.

Doll Factory is consistently in my top 3 every year, so I'd be bummed to see it go. That being said, they need to make some updates to the house, as it has started feeling dated.

I am always irritated with PrimEvil. I'm not even exaggerating when I say I can probably count on one hand how many actors I've seen in the scare zone the last 3 years combined. The concept works great with the area of the park, but I just never see anyone.

Ultimately, I just want a return to a creepy, scare-centric atmosphere. Tired of the family friendly BS. Not holding my breath there though.

Don't know if this means anything, but a little while ago (early june)I was walking by no vacancy and noticed the door open and heard lots of power tool noise coming from it. My hope is its getting a new layout. Or gutted to make room for a giant new karaoke bar/dance floor! Anyways wasn't there supposed to be a building built in the lawn next to delirium? Anyone think it could be a haunt building?

I hope to God that No Vacancy is just getting an updated layout. It's consistently my favorite house, with magnificent sets and incredible attention to detail. It better not be leaving, but an update to the layout never hurt.

I don't see No Vacancy going anywhere since its always a fan favorite every year. It would be nice for them to do a new layout inside since it has basically been the same for the past few years. You can basically determine where every scareactor is before going around the next corner.

Maybe they are making a dance floor and the devil DJ from BGW is going to be spinning the 1s and 2s all night long.

No Vacancy is well above typical standards for Haunt. It needs to stay. If they are going tho change anything about it, I would suggest that they patch up the seams between wall panels. Almost any "cheap" feeling at HH is due to exposed seams and forklift holes showing on larger sets. It breaks the authenticity as soon as the guest notices it.

Otherwise, KD is steadily developing a superb prop department for Haunt. I would hate to be one of the designers who worked with heart and soul thinking "This is going to look real!", only to see minuscule laziness in installation. It shouldn't be to hard to fix, otherwise.

I agree that seeing stuff like that takes people out of the moment. Kind of a shame. My feeling is that I'm not the most eagle-eyed person when walking through a maze, so if I notice something cheap like seams or forklift holes, then you really messed up. Personally, I haven't noticed too much of that, but I do catch it every now and then. Otherwise, I'm generally pretty happy with the props of Haunt.

Last season, they covered the forklift holes in Necropolis' and Primevil's props with mulch, which definitely helped conceal them. But they still need to work on doing something similar in the rest of the areas. Feary Tales, Cleaver Brothers, and The Lair, among other places, still had visible forklift holes.

I'm seeing some stuff on Facebook that Club Blood and Slaughterhouse look to be scrapped. Anyone have any confirmation of this?

I noticed from Windseeker last week that the graffiti and small graveyard outside the Club Blood building are still in place.
