Anyone planning to go Friday? Looking forward to pictures and reviews. We all know the opening weekend tends to be weaker, but still exciting that Haunt is starting up. My friends and I are waiting until the 16th. Let them work out the kinks and add the last few props and what not. Seems like they tend to hit their stride after the first couple weeks, so that's the perfect time to go.

The problem with rain at Haunt isn't really being outside and getting wet, but rather that the outdoor mazes are closed. Historically, they don't open Cornstalkers or Tollway Terror (Blue Ridge Bloodbath). It isn't great for the scare zones, either.

I wonder if they would open the scare zone Skeleton Keys in the rain?

I doubt I would buy one, but I think the idea of a skeleton key in the scare zones sounds like a good idea. That way, they don't have to worry as much about ruining the flow. I plan to attend Halloween Haunt at least once this year. It is always an educational experience in the haunt industry.

For more experienced haunt goers; does anybody think it would be possible to hit up both HH and Ashland Berry Farm in the same night? I would like to if possible, because they are expanding this year. If possible, the Doswell area may become the best fright hub in Virginia.

I agree. As a person who spends alot of time in haunts during the season and building them, you can learn SO much from the bigger ones. For example if you see a set up that BGW or KD cant pull off most times its not going to be easy for a small do it yourself haunt to achieve. And on the opposite side there are times when a person like myself walks away with so many ideas, because they can see where the problems lie and try to make it possible to do it.

I saw that last nite while browsing. It sounds less 'intimate' than the VIP dinner, but less expensive. This is something that I would have to check out in person before buying a ticket.

Chef Paul told us about this. It is the buffet I mentioned in my posts.

He said that it will be inside a carnival tent outside Victoria's. It is meant to fit in with the theme of the scare zone.

I think a buffet in a tent will naturally be less intimate than a plated dinner in the Caprice Room. I also think the intent is to offer a variety of dining options.

This sounds interesting, but since I already have a dining pass I will have to pass on the buffet...sorry for the pun.

Is it possible that they might be offering this as a way to bring something themed to people with bigger groups that cant afford the higher price? For example a family bringing their older children? Either way i can see this as a win, because if Chef Paul is doing the food for this as well (or at least giving them the instructions to do it) it is a good chance for people to see the culinary side of the park. If they are unable to afford the vip meal. Plus i kinda like the idea better than Blood Banquet @ BGW. While the one year we went it was nice, the show was as good as it could be, but i think id have liked it better if it had been more themed. It seems like a cool idea to theme it to a scare zone.

Not sure if this is a permanent change but if you skip to the 1:40 mark you can see one of the giant spiders has been placed on the roof of the guest services building. Haunt starts tomorrow! Should be fun as long as there is no more spiders!
EDIT: The other spider is located in Candy Apple Grove and there should be some more graffiti where the Club Blood facade is. (I discovered some new pictures on Instagram but I don't want to reveal the persons identity.)

^KD said on Instagram that the Haunt team should prepare the set soon. Guess they didn't have enough time to set it up after the bike race.
