Trust me, if I say I like something it is NEVER a theme park show.

It is a highly-themed full service dinner in their VIP room.  Here is a review I wrote about last year's VIP meal.

As for the expansion of bars at Haunt, I wasn't thrilled with the beer garden and DJ last year either, but it was relatively small.  It was one of many small irritants: more light, more strollers, and outdoor bars.  My worry -- and I am withholding judgment, because they may do it in a less disruptive way than HOS -- is that these DJs and bars are much more invasive and reminiscent of what BGW has evolved into.

I have said for a few years that the two parks give you very different Halloween experiences, which I think is better for everyone.  I would really rather not see Haunt morph into HOS.

I agree with you here. IMO its kinda better that they are so different because it gives a little variety. While i have not been to KD for Haunt if it is better and more adult than BGW, i might just be going there instead.

Very interested to see how they do the Skeleton Keys for the scare zones. I won't buy one regardless, but I'll be keeping an eye out to see what others have to say. Just not sure how that works.

I'm glad they changed the website. I thought it was awful the last couple years. Glad they actually themed it up this year.

Now we just need some pictures of Haunt construction.

Suprise! I'm going tonight instead of yesterday! Literally, I'm in the car. Another suprise, the park is only open till 8 and I'm 25 minutes away. Yaay. I'll do my best to look for Haunt stuff.

Sorry for the double post!
Wow, the amount of Haunt props out is truly sad for September. There was almost nothing new since my last visit in mid-August. But, I'll still deliver my small, very small, update.

This was all I could see of the actual Lockdown maze itself. Very interesting.

Yaay! Something new! The aliens have received hair!

They added a curtain preventing guest from looking inside Maze of Madness.

As you can tell by this high quality photo the Club Blood facade is up, if you want a better look scroll up to Zach's photo.

Cornstalkers looks the exact same as my last visit.
[Rant]Well that was all I saw tonight and I'm pretty disappointed. My main complaint about Haunt was it was lacking atmosFEAR which I feel in my opinion BGW excels at. Maybe the park is just waiting for the private events to start or is going to put a ton of stuff up this week but from what I saw they are in no way ready for Haunt. [/End Rant] Then again the lack of props might be due to up-coming bike race which will be starting at KD. 25 days till Haunt starts! Can't wait for Unstrung and Lockdown!

I dunno. This seems kind of standard for this time of year. They really get going with Haunt construction after the park closes for weekdays and they can work all day without worrying about disturbing guests. Once that happens, they'll really start amping it up.

KD's new blog has said that behind the scenes look on haunt will be realeased next week. Thanks katelyn! I really hope since she said this is one of her favorite times of year at the park that we will see more official haunt videos and social media hype. Unlike last year when there was almost none of that. Any thoughts?

A few tidbits I have scrounged up for the 2015 Halloween Haunt:

The following mazes will have ONE new room/scene for 2015:
  • Zombie high
  • Slaughter House
  • Doll Factory

The following maze will replace 2 existing rooms/scenes with TWO new rooms/scenes for 2015:
  • Maze of Madness

Sorry, no particular details for any of the above changes. I assume they have to keep that stuff hush-hush for now.

New Haunt props being built. Not sure if they are for a maze, scare-zone, or show.

That is great i'm a sucker for a well themed haunt. I am that person who looks at the little details on things. Such as makeup... you can have a great set and good actors but if your appliance makeup is horrible, you dont stand a chance. The actors feed off of good sets and craftsmanship.

Agreed. If the details are weak, it can ruin everything. I've been a fan of KD's details the last few years. No Vacancy is a great example of what atmosphere can do for a maze. There are so many things to look at and you feel like you are truly in a hotel. And look at what happened. It's usually people's favorite maze each year.

I'm hoping someone can answer this. I'm looking at tickets on the Va Thrills site for Kings Dominion Haunt. I don't know if I can post a link, but here it is. Hopefully it's visible: https://cf-kd.secure.accesso.com/embed/store.php?merchant_id=9476&emerchant_id=400&username=BGKD&password=BGKD&m=9476&ec=400

The tickets for Haunt are $35. But the site is very unclear on the terms. It says it's valid for a General admission on Friday & Sunday.

The use of "a" in the description indicates one of the two days, but the use of "&" seems to indicate both days...? But when adding to the cart, it only lets one choose one date. I would think they're use the word "or". I'm guessing based on the price, it's for one of the two days.

Also, since it says they're for Haunt, does that mean after a certain time, like after 7pm?

Unfortunately, there's no email form to ask and the only contact method is by phone and I have problems calling people. :(
