My wife's (nic) account above was pretty close to my opinion, but since I was behind her most of the way I saw a bit more.. Or should I say she demo'd the mazes for me.
First let me say the Haunt was really great. I liked the mazes a lot. they were well staffed and had scare actors that were really into their parts. The mazes were a little shorter than HOS but there were more mazes.
I thought there were a ton of actors in the mazes and half were in the pathway. This gives a creepy, in your face feel that even scared me. There were quite a few pop out scares too. I don't normally get scared when I know it's coming and loud noises hardly ever scare me. However, the combination of the pathway scare actors and the jump out actors created more tension so that I jumped 2-3 times per maze when to actors jumped out at me. Also they used the props very well. They would push some of the scary mannequins at you which I was not expecting. Also there were corpses and dead looking scare actors that were staged along the walls and a few came to life and scared me. Let me just say they did this very well! At least a dozen people I thought were not alive and just props popped up and out at me. They would position themselves all contorted making it look as if it could not possibly be a scare actor.
Haunt didn't have as many noise makers, behind the wall scare actors, but I liked the combo they had. One thing that would make it better would be for scare actors to have noise makers to add to their screams. Oh and they had some very good screamers. One girl was awesome and I heard her do it again 15 seconds later behind me. She had to be hoarse by the end of the night.
One more thing I thought was really good. The pathway scare actors would get in your path blocking your way or would run across the pathway both of which were freaky.
Lastly, I really liked the scare zones decorating-wise and the music was really good. The best zones seemed to be in areas where it was a confined space side to side. It allowed you to be more immersed and interacting with the scare actors. Several areas were creepy, like by the crypt, but it was too big an area that they worked in making it hit or miss walking through there. Again there were quite a few actors that were good and into it, but I watched most of them attack others. the other actors just glared, hence my wife's comment about them not being engaged.
All in all, it was a great time and I recommend trying it out. Also going on a Sunday was great, but there were some lines and some very long lines, so I was glad we got the freight lane.
