I thought there was at least a chance it ended up being sent to a smaller park and converted to floorless. I don’t think it would’ve been a good option, and I hated the ride, but I figured anything was possible.
It always made sense to me as the next coaster at the park to be removed, though. The fact that it’s barely been a footnote in this whole saga is very telling of what its standing among the vast majority was.

I know this may be hard to believe, but some people genuinely liked the ride.
When people talk about bad decisions the park has made over the years, it will always baffle me that they replaced Great American Scream Machine, arguably the original "iconic coaster" (regardless of how it had aged) , and the ride that was noted by many for saving the park, if not being the start of its golden age...
And then they replace it with a mediocre stand up, and theme it to even even more mediocre movie.
To me, while the park was already slowly on the decline in the 2000s, Green Lantern arguably was the start of the trajectory trending significantly downward.

Flew out from Chicago to visit GADv for the first time in 20 years after I read that Green Lantern was likely to be removed. Got some Kingda Ka rides out of it as well. Thought they were both great.
I don’t think I’ve ever seen thoosies and the GP as aligned on a coaster as with Lantern. Enthusiasts by and large hated it, and it was always empty even when Superman had a multi hour line. Several people I talked to from Jersey separately called it “the ball crusher ride”. What a reputation.
I won’t deny that it had its fans, but they were few and far between. Happy for anyone who can ride standups and not feel some form of pain, but Scorcher was the only one that was bearable at all to me, although I haven’t been on Riddler’s Revenge.
Riddler's Revenge is a great ride. Georgia Scorcher is fun for a stand-up imo, but Riddler's Revenge is just point blank good. U even get a little airtime before that became really possible with the surf coaster. perfecting the stance is always gonna be an issue as will accordingly long load times, but I do hope magic mountain keeps it around as long as possible
I'm one of the odd people who never experienced any pain. There were some forces on the legs during the inclined loop, but everything else was smooth.

I rode it all of two times, the standup train design is really just awful and not meant for riders to experience such strong forces. Feel like that's why Georgia Scorcher has a pretty solid reputation all things considered. Between the damage it did to my balls and the head banging, omg the head banging. My head felt like a ping pong ball the entire ride.

I never understood either of those complaints tbh. If you held your had gently forward, there wasn't much head banging. As for the leg pain, I could literally lift my legs up and go weightless on the drops without an issue.

I learned how to ride it without crushing my…we’ll call it my special area. With that said, being tall and having had issues with knee pain made it harder for me to ride every year. I used to love Green Lantern when it first opened at the park but I just couldn’t ride it anymore by its final years.
For what it’s worth, I think it had a fantastic layout. I rode it most trips up until about 2018 wondering if I was missing something or if I was just annoyed that it replaced GASM, and then just accepted that it absolutely was not for me and stopped riding it. I did hit it on my most recent visit in 2022 though, that was a very strange summer day where everything in the park was running except for Wonder Woman and Cyborg (although Cyborg felt like it spent more time down than not anyway), and I was able to ride virtually everything.
Couldn’t have known that I’d be leaving NJ again in about 8 months or that it would be the last time I rode Ka, Zumanjaro, Lantern, Twister, Parachuter’s Perch, or the Skyride.

The Skyway really is still the biggest loss of the 2024 purge in my opinion. Ka is being replaced by another monster launch coaster, Shoreline Pier is a clear improvement over Green Lantern, and the rumor is we're getting another drop tower. But you really can't add in another transport ride with how built up the park is (imagine trying to get a train route through her) and I just don't see the park investing in another sky way. I would LOVE to be proven wrong btw, but I just don't see it.

It's tough between Ka and the Skyride for me, however I think I have to agree and say that the skyride was the bigger loss considering it was an original attraction, a convenient energy saver and provided very nice views. While Ka was also very iconic and had an unparalleled launch, the skyway added more to the theme park experience as a whole in my opinion.
I would like to believe the GP demand for a transport ride is high enough for Six Flags to consider adding something like the skyride in the future. Especially if they are pushing the whole resort vibe. Coliwood studios put out a video a few months ago that included an idea to connect a hypothetical resort hotel to all the parks via next gen cable cars. Would it happen? Unlikely. Would it be freaking awesome and a convenient way to travel? Absolutely!
Green Lantern was the best of the three B&M stand up coasters I have ridden but it wasn't what I would call a good coaster. I never had an issue with ball crushing but I would also ride it how you were supposed to and leave a gap between the saddle and me using my legs to support my weight. If I were to have picked a coaster to go out of everything standing in 2024 I would have picked it first.
I openly had Green Lantern in my top 20 coasters for the longest time, and my last ride on it was one of the best. I loved Green Lantern and Scorcher, but I absolutely hate Vortex and hated Apocalypse when it was around. Unfortunately, Riddler’s was closed on all five of my visits to MM. :/
