I feel like "water coaster" has long had a colloquial meaning for thoosies before "actual" water coasters existed. I think it's perfectly fair and reasonable to continue calling attractions that are part roller coaster and part water ride "water coasters." One can fathom a world in which this term for a genre of roller coaster could be confused with "water coaster" as in a waterslide with uphill propulsion, but I expect more precise terms would likely be used whenever that confusion is likely.

So yeah, I intend to continue calling Intamin Ultra Surfs, Mack Power Splashes, etc "water coasters" even if the phrase now has a second meaning.

This ride I’m curious if the water is just more of a “visual” on the ride than something you actually splash through. I guess we will see.
The water effects are visual. It's not really a true water ride as some people think. However, it is similar to Aquaman at SFOT but it's somehow a different ride experience cuz it has free spinning gondolas.

^Plus Aquaman actually DOES get you soaked I believe?

I rode Aquaman Power Wave last summer at SFOT, and can confirm that you do get wet; where as illustration, look closely in the following photo, how it's not out in front of the wall of water (which does not seem to be what Intamin has planned for the design of this one):

Worth noting. The Aquaman water levels can be raised or lowered, from what I understand, which directly dictates the splash. So if it's a colder day, guests can comfortably ride without getting drenched.

And as we're on the subject of comparing the two attractions... I must say that Aquaman has quite the more strategic placement at SFOT -- where being located directly off one of the main pathways (and even off one of the secondary paths), there is absolutely no way a guest will miss it.

And though Georgia Surfer's placement in the park will make it a bit more tucked-away (i.e. not in-your-face, which is certainly a good thing in its own right), where it is located and being able to see an almost top-down view of it will be pretty cool; so certainly looking forward to seeing Georgia Surfer complete.

When parks are open from Spring Break through Christmas, this is a smart move as it lets you keep a coaster open longer, rather than the typical "Memorial Day-Labor Day" schedule a lot of other water rides run with.

GA Surfer has officially gone vertical

The orange support is way too close to the bridge, which is why it's been closed off. It probobly looks intmidating by looking at it, especially when it's completed

Presto! Track work on GA Surfer is 100% complete. The only thing left is to work on the station, queue line, and the coaster's water features
