hello, I wondered when are you going to update the great adventure history site. I love to see more information and maybe find some old videos and maybe old forum topics and theres are some pages that needs to be added or updated (and yes, that includes the haunted castle page and bring back the ale house page since the ale house page is a 404 error page now)

Figured Great Adventure is another park where it would be worth looking at the average ages of its rides.

Mean:
Coasters - 21.96 years
Flats - 33.93 years
Overall - 30.31 years

Mode:
Coasters - 26
Flats - 26
Overall - 26

Median:
Coasters - 24
Flats - 26
Overall - 26

Obviously the data for Great Adventure leans VERY heavily in favor of 1999’s War on Lines, but that’s part of the problem. The average ride in the park, barring extreme cases like the carousel being 144 years old (which was included in the mean), is approaching 3 decades old. I don’t think the park is in any danger, if for no reason other than its location, but it’s in desperate need of updates.

so, is the great adventure history venture is getting updated (along with daily postings on Facebook & instagrams?)

edit: the Facebook page for great adventure history is updated with pictures of the skyway & kingda ka cars whereabouts)

Hey friends! If anyone is interested, I just released part 1 of my 4 part documentary of the Complete History of the Golden Kingdom! I'm going to be covering everything, from what lead to the Golden Kingdom, its construction, the changes over the years, and the lands eventual closure. If you are interested, give it a watch! :)

sorry of repeating this but when are you finally updating the site and restoring some of the broken links that takes you to the 404 page?

I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure ParkFans only took over the forums and are hosting the GA History site. I don't know who, if anyone, took over the actual maintenance of the site itself.

@GAcoaster retains and maintains the Great Adventure History site and social channels. ParkFans just offered a place where the Great Adventure History forum community could migrate to.

I don't want to speak for @GAcoaster, but I'm sure @GAcoaster will get back to Great Adventure History updates eventually when time allows/he feels like it. I know in his shoes people poking me repeatedly about it every few months probably wouldn't make me more likely to do it.

Remember, there's no money in this stuff. We actively lose money on these projects and spend a lot of time keeping them goin'. People have busy lives and full-time jobs to manage. Anything that gets done is a gift, not a duty or obligation.

I've got some web-dev skills and plenty of free time 🤷🏻
I may take you up on the offer!

I really wish I had more time to work on the site, but it's not easy to find that time.

Part of the issue I have doing updates is the structure of the site is HUGE because we really had no idea what we were doing when we started it 20+ years ago and we used the tools we had. I remember at the time there was a whole thing about using CSS to make everything work better, but we kept using what we had (FrontPage), which ended up working out as everyone went to smart phones for most of their web stuff since it actually (usually) formats fairly well no matter what the device. As a result, I have to use an old version of Expression Web to do updating. It's not difficult, just time consuming to do all the updates needed around the site.

For what it’s worth, I’ve been working on a couple things for attractions that don’t have spotlights on GAH that I’d like to share here eventually, but work has been busier than usual and I haven’t had much time to work on them.

These are in no way anywhere near as comprehensive as GAH’s spotlights, but it’s a small passion project more than anything, just as GAH is.
