The only details at this point is, there will be four Anheuser-Busch beer samples in the Festhaus Cafe.

One of the bigger successes about Blackstone acquiring BGW was the better beer selection afforded to guests. For the life of me, I can't see why anyone would want to 'sample' 4 Budweiser products of anything. But hey, if it moves bodies go for it. I'll probably opt out and drink in the parking lot anyhow*.

*As usual.

No offense to PR intended here, but my jaw did not drop. Frankly this seems a bit lackluster. However it is just a 40th anniversary... Who picks the 40th to get excited over. The 50th I can see, but way 40th? I really hope the answer is not "because KD did it"

Having said all that, frankly I am glad that they are not spending much money on this. Using it as a way to make money with trinkets and such I can get down with, but if they had produced some 40th anniversary show or set up fireworks I would be, as Luke would say, livid.

maybe they will have have the Budweiser cocktail beer things! <wretch>

OK. I have no idea what they intend to include the Budweiser beer tasting, but my hope is that it will be like the tour I did at BGT, where we sampled several Budweiser-owned beers. They served us several microbrews that had been bought by Budweiser, including Shocktop and Land Shark. I'm not saying they are fabulous, but they aren't Bud Light either.

The jaw dropping for me at least, was the fact the park is actually acknowledging their past by creating things like a documentary and using their history like the The Olde Country logo and the comeback of past menu items.

Seriously, who honestly expected any of that? Probably very few people did. I'd be willing to bet most people assumed they would just use their new logo on some merchandise and that would be it.

The fact the park put effort into celebrating their history is surprising and something I apparently wrongfully assumed everyone would be excited about.

However, I will agree the 50th is more important than the 40th, but still it is a big milestone in their history. So far, their at least doing more than what SeaWorld has done. I can only imagine their 50th will bring a lot more (if they make it to 50 :p ).

As for the beer tasting, I can confirm Michelob and Bud Light are two of the choices. I'm actually quite surprised at the reactions. Considering I thought people would be a little happy over the reference to the Hospitality Center.

I went through and tried to bold the highlights of the information for those who don't want to read into the details or fluff. I will be doing the same to my other posts in the other threads with new information.

AB still sells a LOT of beer.  I think a revived Hospitality Center will be very popular with the public.  I had friends at W&M and it was a popular stop for us.  I guess this is a marketing opportunity for AB and good for them if they are providing free samples.  I love that space in the Festhaus and am happy to see it being used.  I suggest this is also a good opportunity to display artifacts, historic displays, and maybe even run the documentary.

I look forward to The Old Country merchandise and vintage tees, etc.  From what I've read, I'm impressed.

The park added info under the "40 Years of Fun" tab about what will actually be displayed in the park.

If you love fun facts, then be sure to look for the historical markers put into the park just for our 40th season. Combined, the 40 markers make up a great trip down memory lane that will test and delight even our most knowledgeable park guests
