RE: Food & Wine Festival Booths that should stay after the event ends

I get what your're saying, but someone has to point out the flaws....I will agree, on a whole, the event was a smashing success, but some kiosks were lacking in areas that they really shouldn't have. It's like BGW put more effort into some booths, and much less into others.

Sorry, I don't sugarcoat things. And judging from the vote tally so far, I'm not the only one who thinks these booths were lacking....

I think it is worth noting that Greece is a fan favorite in the looks department, but nobody seems to like it as favorite tasting or wants it to stay put/added to regular menu.

Nora likes it though, and that is usually enough for me. ;)

Yeah, but most of us who bought food from the Greece stand all pretty much agree....The stand looked good, but as you could see from the pics I posted, the food was awful. I think the portions she got were when they KNEW they were going to be reviewed, and thereafter, they just slacked off BIG time. There should have been ZERO reason someone gets 4 pieces of meat on the skewer, and then they reduce that to two like the portion I got. That's just piss poor anyway you slice it. :(

Greece, it looks great, and the food is decent yet still lacking but I wouldn't use the words bad or horrid. I think the team members just needed to put some more effort into their work, but otherwise that booth was very nice yet still the least desired.

How was the Germany booth bad? I thought the presentations were pretty good. How can you compare a full-fledged established restaurant that has been there for years to a small temporary stand? Honestly, I though this booth probably landed in the middle of all scales.

Honestly you have to keep in mind these are samples, not full meals. Expect less not more. Like many executives advertised, your only meant to get a two to four bite portion. I think some of the portions were actually quite large for samples, but I am not complaining. I think everything, Spain included, was priced and portioned right, even Greece.

This is a theme park, not a world class restaurant. The best you are going to get is high school and college students looking for extra cash. Honestly, I don't care if the team members making the food don't care as long as the food tastes good and looks decent. What is the point in bringing in specialty person(s) for what 30 days only? That has got to be the record for the shortest job time span ever. Seriously, if there is a problem with the team members attitude, then all the park can really do is encourage them. You don't see the park hiring professional game show hosts, ride engineers to to daily ride operations, high end chefs, or anything professional really. A theme park operates on getting one person to do one thing repetitively for about a year depending on multiple factors. Don't expect professionals at a theme park, period. Unless they are guests such as Virginia Willis.

Also, team members have no idea when or if they get reviewed by guests for any reason. What probably happened was, someone who was new put too much meat on and was told hey, you need to put less on and so yeah. Not that big of an issue, that's like some new kid working at Mcy D's and gives you extra hot fudge by accident.

That is really harsh, especially considering everyone is praising the event and you seem to be the only one pointing out the tiny flaws and blowing them up to be crucial major flaws.

I for one think, every team member working did an excellent job on presentation and such with the exception of the Greece stand.

Are opinions banned now? Sorry, didn't get the memo.

I am not saying he can't voice his opinion. I'm just saying his opinion varies greatly compared to a lot of others and how exactly it varies. Am I not allowed to say that someone else's opinion is drastically different than anothers?

Yes haha, I was tired and bitter last night for some reason

Like anything else, obviously our results (meaning the food, presentation, taste, etc) WILL vary. Perhaps I was a bit harsh in some respects, and several others who really did try hard just got caught up in the collateral damage, but that's life. Sometimes the actions (or inaction) of others drags you down despite your best efforts.

Having said that, I still stick by my original reviews. I don't treat anybody with kid gloves, and I doubt many of ya'll would either. Mind you, I've worked at a theme park also. I know all too well that first impressions, especially for a hyped up event like the F&W festy, count for a WHOLE LOT, and Greece just plain failed me. Same with the Germany food. Do I expect "haute cuisine"? No. Do I expect the food, given it's temporary nature, to be absolutely spot on perfect? Of course not. This is their first attempt at doing this festival. There's gonna be some kinks. I'm just not going to be the one to sweep them under the rug & pretend like they didn't happen. That's all. :)
