Which Food & Wine Festival booths do you think either:
1. Fit so well into their respective hamlet that they should stay put for the regular season
2. And/or have food & drinks that are good enough to be added to the menus for the regular season.

Choose as many as you wish! Please elaborate on your choices by responding to this thread.
This is a public poll.

*Crepes & Coffee is not included in the poll because from what I understand it is already a permanent fixture.

RE: Food & Wine Festival Booths that should stay after the event ends

My vote(s)
France - Mostly because I hate to see the Bistro 205 area unused, and this was a great way to fill that space.
Spain - The portions could be made bigger, but the items sold there tasted FANTASTIC! Just a bit awkward having Spain's booth (albeit elaborately decorated) located directly in the middle of Italy.
Austria- They could easily just convert this into another Germany eatery as it resides in an existing building, and the menu items are pretty much German anyways.
Germany Beer - Love the beer flights! This should be a permanent fixture for this park. Keep the same price point too, and you will have a WINNER!! Just lose the hand w/the beer mug that's on top of the booth.

I totally agree with you on Austria and Germany!

RE: Food & Wine Festival Booths that should stay after the event ends

This was so tough! What a decision. I like the idea of Austria staying because the park already sells funnel cakes in England (and I cannot eat them anyway). Besides I could eat the tafelspitz every day of the week. Maybe they could move the funnel cakes over to the other stand where the 50% off store is.

RE: Food & Wine Festival Booths that should stay after the event ends

I said crépes and coffee because it fits perfectly into France and the area is so pretty. I think they should keep some of the tables up around the park, I think they look nice. :)

^^^ THIS!! I agree....Keep the stand up tables around the park, maybe even sneak a few into the Italy Theater area around the top perimeter of the seating area. That creates a more communal atmosphere, long after the F&W festy is gone.

God, I wish they could just keep the F&W thing going year round. You know the Food & Beverage dept must be rolling it in right now. These things sure beat the heck out of the ubiquitous soft drink/popcorn/churro stands they had everywhere.

RE: Food & Wine Festival Booths that should stay after the event ends

I agree, we never but from snack stands, but we would but from thus every time.

Crepes and Coffee should stay. Other food items could incorporated into existing eateries.

Just wanted to clarify something; unless I misunderstood, Crepes & Coffee is going to stay put after the F&WF is over. Isn't that correct Zachary? And if people are choosing "France" in the poll, make sure that you understand that "France" and "Crepes & Coffee" are separate booths.
*Crepes & Coffee is NOT on the poll because of this. :)

RE: Food & Wine Festival Booths that should stay after the event ends

Even if Crepes and Coffee does go, I chose the main France booth nonetheless. I think they should restore a French themed restaurant of some kind in the 205 building; some of the F&W products could be carried over. As far as Austria, it would be nice to see Rhinefeld get an authentic German/Alps themed food venue instead of the "funnel cakes" snack place that was there before. That said, I oppose retaining other booths that aren't directly represented in a hamlet. No Spain, Scandinavia, or Greece, in my opinion. Austria feels fitting because of its proximity and cultural similarity to Germany.

RE: Food & Wine Festival Booths that should stay after the event ends

^Yes.

I chose the following:

Scotland - for the same reasons as Cody (egg). Highlanders unite!!

France - because it feels right at home in the Bistro.

Canada - apparently all of the food is good.

Austria - for the same reasons everyone else is saying... fits in with Germany and would rather have this instead of funnel cakes and chip stix.

Italy - because the new desserts, salad and cheeses are yummy, and it fits in nicely with, well, Italy. The cork sign should stay because it is lovely!

None of these selections would really impact any existing space as they are already in a food stand of sorts. The one possible exception is Canada. Though I like the design of the sign on its own, it's a bit tacky compared to the rest of the area. Plus it is taking up the smokehouse grill. Now that I think about it, just get rid of the Canada booth and add some of the items to the smokehouse menu.

As far as I know, yes, the current plan right now is to keep Crepes and Coffee open.

RE: Food & Wine Festival Booths that should stay after the event ends

Just the crepes & coffee stand??

The majority of us (and many others I talked to during the course of my food tour) all said the same thing. France, Austria & Canada were the best food-wise)

Keep those other three in place also!!! Especially France & Austria!! They use already existing space and have done a damn good job of the food!! People would LOVE this!!

RE: Food & Wine Festival Booths that should stay after the event ends

I hear what you are saying, but I look at the Food and Wine Festival as a sampler platter to try out things that should be added to a menu of things that I like. What would they do next year? Surely they will change the menu up and maybe even add/remove some different countries.

RE: Food & Wine Festival Booths that should stay after the event ends

I for one want to see a major improvement in Greece. SO much potential for this booth, but they fell flat on their face with the food. It tasted good, but DAMN did they screw up on portion, preparation and presentation. SO inconsistent on all three counts there.

And Germany....Dear GOD where did THAT one go wrong? Festhaus is the most popular eatery in the entire park, so how could they give these German dishes such a poor showing as they did??

Spain...Oh Spain. Could have been a contender!! Portion sizes were WAAY too small. Tasted amazing, though. There are FAR better Spanish dishes than what they did this time. I expect Spain to be #1 next year if they increase portion size & delve a bit deeper into Spanish cuisine cookbooks. I can easily cook something 10x better than what they served up here.

But one thing I think we can ALL agree on....LET'S TRAIN THESE COOKS BETTER!!! We can't just grab a few F&B people & say, okay you're gonna learn how to prepare such and such a dish. That's the WORST thing you can do. My solution? Bring in culinary school students as interns for the month. Bring in those kids who are WANTING to make cooking their careers. They'll care more about how the food is prepared, how it tastes, how it's presented, etc.

RE: Food & Wine Festival Booths that should stay after the event ends

That is really harsh, especially considering everyone is praising the event and you seem to be the only one pointing out the tiny flaws and blowing them up to be crucial major flaws.

I for one think, every team member working did an excellent job on presentation and such with the exception of the Greece stand.
