12. Ginger Beer Australia: Hands-down the best ginger beer I have ever had and I have had hundreds and hundreds of versions of this drink and this is easily the best one I had. Real ginger real flavoring real everything and authentic. It made me cry every second I had because it literally brought back memories to with my dad used to be a bartender and made Moscow Mule‘s and now I got to taste the special moment just from having this ginger beer at a theme park F&W event.

How did it stack against ginger beer like Bundaberg?

I started to put this under Quality Control but I'll put it here since this is related to F&W. We went to F&W again yesterday. It was better than the first time for sure although we tried and ate different foods. The reason for this post though is the disgusting condition the tables are in. They specifically put in additional walk up tables to eat, around most of the kiosks. I don't think anybody has bothered to clean the tables since F&W started 3 weeks ago. There is literally a 3 week accumulation of food waste and dirt on every table we saw yesterday. Sure, you can grab some paper towels from the closest bathroom and wipe them down but why should that be a guests responsibility. It is so bad it makes me hesitate to continue with F&W because of the unsanitary condition the tables are in. Yesterday I noticed people walking away and not using the tables because they were so disgusting.

I noticed the tables too, we just found planter walls to sit on or just walked and ate because of the filth. The event may be a money maker but it’s at the expense of the park. No normal drink or snack places open, Marcos closed…….it really hurts the regular park. I know people keep saying they are short staffed and can’t find people
to work but I was counting at least 6 people
working each booth. It only takes one to run a drink stand. At one time F&W was a great addition…..now it’s just a burden.

After two visits and trying quite a few of the Food & Wine dishes, here are my favorites:
- The shrimp tacos were amazing. And this is coming from someone who isn't usually a fan of shrimp tacos or the fresh tomatoes that come on them
- The bacon cheddar hush puppies at the Virginia booth are delicious, and you get 5 of them
- The bananas foster cheesecake at the french quarter booth is also a good portion size. The flavor was good too, not amazing, but the presentation made up for it and helped land in on my favorites list
-The Abacaxi (grilled pineapple with coconut and caramel sauce) in Brazil was also very good and was enough to share. I ordered this on multiple visits.
- I didn't try a lot of the beverages, but I really like the Caipirinha in Brazil. The Cachaca it's made with is hard to find. It's sweet and not too strong like the Shark Bite frozen drink was. I got this on multiple visits as well.

Anyone else notice that free items stop on 12 June for members? That feels like a huge benefit cut.

F&W 2022 is only scheduled through June 12th, so no benefit cut...

I love a good Sangria and the ones that I have had at the garden by Marco Polo have been great

The way the park is run lately, I’m imagining they’ve extended the festival because they still have leftover food they don’t want to lose money on, and also they are behind on getting the other food locations ready to open.
I’d argue it’s more profitable than regular F&B operations and they aren’t willing to change over.

Food and wine extended for this weekend? Guess they had some food left over from last week they threw back in the freezer for another chance at selling it. Isn’t there supposed to be special food for the summer series?

I think the simplest and most likely explaination is just that striking Food & Wine with the skeleton crew the park operates with now takes more than a week to accomplish—meaning that half the booths will still be fully intact regardless of whether they want them to be or not.

Also worth noting is that a significant amount of retraining is likely happening right now. Previously Food & Wine booths were an addition to the park's core dining infrastructure. Now that they replace that core infrastructure, a ton of employees have to shift over to new roles all at once. That takes time too.

I would bet good money on it being a combination of these two factors especially given the monsoon that occurred for a while yesterday.

Plus you have to consider Marco Polos.....is that still closed on F&W days? Im sure that saves quite a bit of staff.

Considering that most of the "saved" booths are in that area of the park, it is a good question.

Plus, any coincidence that the 3 lowest rated booths are left? Maybe one factor was amount of leftover inventory.

Yea….Japan. I had horrible service there one night…..and other days it opened late or closed very early. It will be interesting to see if the booths only have certain items and if those run out then we know they were trying to use up the very last product.
