ChickenKing, thanks for the update! I wasn't able to make it last weekend and I likely won't be able to make it again this weekend so your update is much appreciated! Also, Luke, thanks for sharing the menu!

By the way, the Scotland booth is based off of a hen coop (those are eggs at the top) - which would make perfect sense due to the fact that the headlining dish there is the Scottish Egg.

Don't really know where the tiki bar reference is coming from.

That Pumpkin Mousse from Canada sounds amazing. Mmm...

I like how all the areas have the vines and lights so they are easily spotted as "Food & Wine Festival" stands around the park.

Good call.

Seems to me it's only worth it if you consider yourself to be a food snob, or just want to pretend that you are one.

I could honestly care less if a certain kind of rare goat cheese pairs perfectly with a Riesling, etc etc. lol

I don't think it always makes you a food snob, it just means that you are more interested in thinking about food and how it meshes together. A food snob is someone who thinks they are better than another person because they think they are more refined for caring.

Nah, I use that word more in the sense of, I would prefer to experience & gain my own knowledge of food/wine/etc through trial and error, rather than pay for someone to basically tell me what I should like & what I shouldn't.

Example: Heaven forbid should I choose to drink a red wine when having fish for dinner. :) But I do.

I'm sure the $90 is well worth 3 hours of listening to a chef & sommelier talk, but I have to be practical sometimes. With six children, I can think of a million other ways I would rather spend that $90 than doing a tasting & sampling. So in that sense, yes, I do have a bit of built in cynicism. Given my circumstance, I don't think anyone can really fault me for that. :)

That is OK. I get what you are saying now. I thought you were speaking about people who like to pair wine and food together as being snobs is all. I have red wine sometimes with a fish dinner... and I've also.. get this...chill my red wine on occasion! GASP!

I'm not one to spend big money on something like that either, but I'll look into it at the welcome center as it may be more appealing once I get the inside scoop.

OH THE HUMANITY!!!!
:shocked::shocked::shocked:

Shoot, I do that all the time with my reds....Or maybe just drop an ice cube in the glass. Only when it's the REAL expensive stuff like $30/bottle & above do I "keep it real." But not when it comes out of a box w/a built in tap. LOL *GUILTY!*
