I guess I could have been a little clearer with my description about proportion size. I realize they are "tastings" but the size of the Cuban last year was twice the size of the Cuban this year. The punch card this year isn't worth it on the lower priced items but anything over $5.50 it is a good buy.
As for the kids in the park; that is an every year occurrence during the month of May. I saw several using vouchers at the Festhaus and I know the Black Forest picnic area was also being used.

The risotto dish in Italy appears to be made with a long grain rice which isn’t proper at all. It’s starch content isn’t right for a proper risotto.

Just had the Huli Huli Chicken with sweet potato salad, pineapple coconut mousse, and a hibiscus lemonade from the Hawaii booth. I LOVED the chicken and potato salad, I wish I could get more to enjoy it again! The hibiscus lemonade is also great, if not a bit too sweet. The mousse was good, not my favorite though. Could’ve had more coconut.

With the increase in prices of the 10 and 15 sampler its getting to the point that if you don't drink alcohol they are not really worth it. Of the 42 dishes I counted only 9 are more than 5.50. All 9 are within $1 of the break even price of the 10 item sampler after discounts. I think they could sell a food only sampler at a cheaper price to appeal to that demographic.

Also, I just overheard the cashier at Cuba tell a customer that they sold out of punchcard lanyards

To comment on your last two posts...the registers are horribly slow. There is no wait to get the food once you pay. And I just asked about the lanyard in Cuba so that might have been me. We got the punch card in Hawaii and so far not a booth since has had lanyards. The also need a ton more high tops and more trash cans.

Brazil has lanyards.....and some issues. I ordered one item and they served me. As I walked away I thought it was the wrong item but maybe I misspoke when I ordered. I walked away then decided to check my receipt. Sure enough they gave me the wrong dish so I went back and they took it and gave me the correct dish. But then they reserved the wrong dish that I had walked around with to another guest

Yeah I’m actually pretty confident it was you now looking at your profile pic...

Stood in line at Jamaica for about 15 min, order Fritters and they say they are out but if I come back in 20 minutes they might have some. Line still looks 15 minutes long....

I think it is safe to say crowds were larger than expected today...and that impacted the F&W Festival...

We were told at the Mexico booth at around 2pm that there were only four Deluxe Samplers lanyards left in the park for the rest of the day.

Also, we waited in line for food after paying at several booths. French Quarter was especially bad.

There were longer lines today than I have ever seen before at the F&WF. It was surprising, but probably good news for the park.

The park is a train wreck. Tried to get a smoothie at farm to table but they are out of ice. Tried to get a soda refill at the ice cream shop in Germany but the guy said the sodas are flat. Just ordered the Siopao Steam Bun only to find out they are out of the sweet soy glaze for the bum. Philippines is also out of forks. Then we get to the drink stand across from Darkastle and they are just giving away soda refills. It really is laughable......

Well the good luck in Japan was short lived....Korea which only has two dishes on the menu is out of the Beef Bulgogi.

Overall the F&W food tasted good and was plated pretty accurately to the photos they were provided. Serving sizes varied widely from the horribly small tuna poke to the ropa in Cuba which was a hearty portion. The team members seemed to be trying hard to turn out good quality dishes. There were many areas where they need improvement so hopefully by next week they improve in those areas.

I've been going to the opening weekend of Food & Wine for years now—almost certainly every year since the event started.

I have never seen a F&W opening weekend as crowded as this one. Not only was the park slammed, but people seemed highly engaged with the event as well. I don't know where all of these Food & Wine attendees came from, but I hope they keep coming back.
