One of these would work.

Can we please get one of these + a disco ball and a smoke machine?
I would 1000% be down with a disco inferno Flight of Fear

I sorta wonder why KD Ent doesn't have thematic control over Flight of Fear. They do amazing work with the effects for special events—they have highly competent lighting people—why can't KD just turn coaster show control over to them and give them a small budget to play with...? A fist full of cash and some creativity would go a LONG way for Flight of Fear.

100% To an extent, maintenance usually doesn’t care about stuff like that. The budget is there for it but they have “other things to do”. Believe it or not, if a rides Lead/Supervisor jotted down all the lights that need replaced on the maintenance sheet every night, they would ultimately have to fix it. Otherwise a lead in maintenance is signing off on things that need attention without fixing them. If it keeps popping up, higher ups will ultimately notice and bring attention to these things. The queue could and should look good. All it takes is one person.

Same applies to Backlot; all it takes is one person to continuously bring up the lack of Fire/Water/Lights every night on the maintenance sheet and it would likely be fixed.

So... Anyone plan on getting hired as a KD ride op anytime soon? Otherwise, can't wait to ride in a couple of weeks

I've mentioned a lot of the above statements before. I've always wondered why this ride does not have more special effects. So many things are missing from this ride that made it good. One thing being was the line queue radio station spiel. Not sure why the park took it out. Did it offend too many people? Next would be the hanger queue area. If that maze wall wasn't there; they could decorate the hanger area with more stuff. In the non-fictional world, the hanger queue atmosphere all depends on who is working that day. There were weekends in the past where I visited and it was bright in there. Someone I guess, thought that the hanger lights should be on. Then there were other weeks I came in there and the hanger queue lights were off, creating a relaxing atmosphere while waiting in line. As for the station; it is a lot brighter than it use to be. I noticed there are new LED station lights.

Here is my overall, view of Flight of Fear. This ride's theme has so much potential. One thing that needs to be scrapped is the queue area HAUNT maze. In reality, it should be apart of the line queue. Having unique things in there to look at would be rather appealing to guest. When you look at the building; it reads "Bureau Of Paranormal Activity". This means that this military installation houses a very secret Government department. The "Outbreak" maze did a good job with it HAUNT queue. The spooky green queue lights with the fog. Flight of Fear should have the outdoor green queue lights, throughout the duration of the year. Once you enter the first hallway, it's always had the red lights from what I remember. Turn that corner and it should be dark. The flying saucer façade should have a lot more. I've always pictured it being something that is partially broken and is being worked on. Maybe a few dead scientist laying near it, to indicate that something terrible has happened at the base. Once you get inside the station the aliens in the cryostasis chambers should be partially woken. If they were animatronics, they could just give them partial hand and head movement every few minutes or so.

Yeah, I don't see the haunt maze area going anywhere, just too little available space for all of the houses they tend to do to lose a large otherwise underutilized indoor space.

Though I would love to be able to see the spaceship from other angles, ultimately the line for this ride rarely requires the extra queue space enough to justify the removal of a haunt maze.

Now would be cool if they could use the giant Peanuts Playhouse space instead, and build some outdoor mazes on Volcano's spot so they could shift the maze from this area of the park and leave the ride running, but I highly doubt they'd take this maze away even with new additions.

I've mentioned this before.

I've never understood why they close down a ride for a small maze. Flight of Fear's outdoor queue look's the best during the Haunt season. In my honest opinion; that should be the night time effect for the outdoor queue. When your looking at it from a distance, it's looks so alluring. I'll include a picture with this post.

As for Volcano's old spot; it would be rather cool to see them clean up the rest of the debris, so the area could be used for FOF's maze. I think the giftshop building is still there. Rebrand it to some sort of military façade and we could bring back a improved version of Alien Outpost.

Time & money are why they don't move the maze from where it is, also with the potential for a complete Safari Village refresh it may not make a whole lot of sense to do anything with the gift shop building facade unless it was going to be demolished anyways... And even then, it's too tiny for anything other than merch or food/beverage sales.

Any idea why Flight of Fear is running at half capacity. If it’s a COVID measure, that’s really foolish considering they make everyone stand inside a crowded, poorly ventilated building, now for a significantly longer wait.

I think it is covid. If you noticed; the roof access is open, while your riding. It must have something to do with the ventilation. But now that Virginia has dropped all pandemic restrictions; there might be some changes being done at KD; as we speak. I am visiting the park again on 4th of July. I'd expect that the park could lift the reservation system to allow more people to visit the park.

As for the ride; I'd prepare for those long hot waits. Cause eventually there is going to be more people in the building and that makes it hot. Not sure why KD never added more fans inside. Probably because the maze wall stays up all year and they would only be able to take us of the one closest to the wall, where you first walk in the hanger area. But, that fan has bee off for as long as I've known.

The ventilation in the queue is the issue. Air is stale in several spots, which is far worse than sitting closer to each other on the ride. Queue time in that part of the building was easily 20-30 mins.

It has been like that for as long as I known. Summer of 2013 was no joke when it came to the indoor queue.

Lately the weather has not been too bad; but the summer is just getting started. The actual ride has always been rather cool in temperature. Not sure how they are able to do that, but it always feels good launching down the tunnel. Still wish we could get the PICTH BLACK rides back. The neon floor lights ruin it.

The issue is not comfort, it's covid. Though maybe soon the restrictions on it will be lifted.

If my local grocery store can upgrade their ventilation to whatever hospital grade level they advertise, then I'm guessing it's more a cost justification reason than anything as to why they don't do it for the queue building.

Everyone knows this. Cedar Fair does not put big investments in indoor ride facilities. We were lucky they canceled Paramount's old plans to relocate the ride. So I'm happy for that. I don't think too many people have ever complained about it. Again, the least they could do is add a few fans in the indoor queue area.

I'd argue that old CF doesn't care. I think new CF leadership is starting to understand that it's not just about the ride but rather it's as much about the experience and being immersive. I think if the Frontier Island idea takes off, you will see them invest into creating experiences over parking lot rides.
