Had two meals there today and here are my thoughts. First meal was pulled pork which I would rate as 6/10. Nice juice and fresh but it lacked in stand out flavoring in my opinion. Potatoe Wedges 8/10 with nice flavor and fried just about perfectly but still s little bland for my taste. Corn bread probably about 8/10 nice moist taste and sweet without tasting otherly sugary. Then on meal two chicken tenders 7/10 you can definitely taste a difference in the hand breading and they were nice and juicy but I was hoping for a little more stand out flavor that would better separate them from Boardwalk next door. Green beans 7/10 I really liked the seasoning that the were cooked in but they still taste like the can product that they are. KD Sweet BBQ Sauce I give a 9/10 it taste great but I would have liked to see them push the flavor a little harder. The Tangey Sauce I give 10/10 and really don't think that they could do much to improve it.

The menu has platters but doesn't give a price. I'm wondering if I get the tenders and a side (but no corn bread) is that cheaper than the platter? Obviously I don't have the dining plan. I don't especially want corn bread with chicken tenders....
The platter is $18.99 which comes with your choice of main dish, one side, and corn bread. Additional sides are $5.99

I’ve gone 3 times now. I’ve had the pulled pork once which I enjoyed and the brisket twice which the first batch I think wasn’t great, the batch I had yesterday was excellent. I tried the peanut butter pie as well during one visit which was delicious. I still prefer outpost and grain & grill but this is a strong option if you want comfort food. One comment: why no mac and cheese? Seems like a BBQ place staple side I’d almost rather have that than potato wedges.

Plus they could charge $9 for mac and cheese and still advertise it as cheaper than BGWs bbq restaurant mac and cheese LOL

First time trying this place. Got the brisket and sausage. Both were great, with the sausage being some of the better flavored sausage I’ve gotten anywhere. Sides and corn bread were top notch also.

I really hope KD keeps up with the restaurant renos for the foreseeable future as every one has been great thus far.

It’s cheaper but it’s less food IMO.
This is what I got at Firehouse last month. Pretty big portion in my opinion. I don’t have a picture but the portions I’ve gotten at Trappers the last few times I’ve eaten there have been WAY smaller.

That is a LOT of green beans. Like looks almost like you got double the beans to meat.

I can't say for sure without doing a systematic comparison whether in fact you get less food at Firehouse than Trappers. What I can say, however, is that in my experience the food at Firehouse is better quality and tastes better than what you can now get at Trappers.

I disagree Trappers looks like more food because it's a different type of food. Whole meat on the bone will always look bigger then sliced or pulled meat even when the serving size is the same. Smoke House is probably going with good 6-8 Oz serving of meat on their plates which is probably pretty close to what Trappers sells on their platters.

They give you stuffing and cranberry sauce on top of the usual entree and side. Pretty good deal.

Also, I’ve watched enough people struggle to stuff their square trays into the circular trash can opening that I have to wonder if something’s gonna change next year…

The sweet potato casserole is the best thing on the menu there, and frankly, everything else was quite good. The turkey was smokey, and the skin had a great rub on it. The ham was good, nothing special, but good. I'd get the turkey or the brisket instead. The mashed potatoes need salt pepper, but for theme park potatoes, not bad.
