Festhaus Restroom Renovations Coming 2015

As with everything that is not crucial the operation of the park, "touch ups" can and should wait until the park is on better fiscal grounds. Certainly not when they are laying off people. If nothing else what a slap in the face.

"Sorry we can't afford to pay you, but look what a magnificent bathroom we now have!"

Now it is entirely possible that this is something they budgeted for last year. But even still, they should have known what was coming. The park has no excuse for what has happened.

Well I for one am happy...as I do spend allot of time in that particular restroom. But yes, I would think it's a slap in the face too if I was laid off and they did this.

But what's done is done. Might as well enjoy it.

It's also worth noting that this all was completely planned, permits were filed, and most likely, a lot of stuff was already paid for before the cuts came down the line. And even then, they most likely had all of the money for the project set aside before hand. It's not easy to reverse all of that in a blink of an eye, let alone just a couple weeks from when the project was supposed to start.

Although, I do agree, it may not even have been the wisest choice even before the cuts, but none the less, I'm very excited to see the restrooms re-done no matter what.

We will likely continue to see restroom renovations each year. It is something that happens each year. Heatherdown's, Rhinefeld's, New France's, etc. This is most likely not the end.

I also wouldn't say this takes away any money from someone's job. Labor is a reoccurring cost while this is a one time expense until the next time it needs renovation. If they didn't do this one restroom, they probably wouldn't even save enough money to keep one person because their cost would be ongoing.

As for where money should go. Money should go into the existing structures and making them look their best before getting anything new. Fix what you have before going out and buying something new.

I'd venture to guess that this renovation is not very expensive compared to say the cost of Star Spangled Nights or any number of other things.

I don't see this renovation as a big deal, and I truly feel that worrying about this one renovation is overkill when it comes to worrying about the park's financial situation. The loss of tours and/or other extras that make revenue is very worrisome, but a small renovation should not be.

The struggle is real, Tony. I got three times as many thanks for posting a video of Tempesto that took me thirty seconds to record, than I did for posting the Preview Day announcement video that took me nearly four hours in total.

I choose to look at it as, "Hey, look how many thanks I got for the bathroom pics/Tempesto video!"

Agreed. Also per a friend of mine who is a RN, using paper towels is actually more sanitary than those air dryers.

The Mythbusters also proved this to be true. They proved that the 'air dryers' of all types render bacteria aerosol and create more widespread levels of bacteria throughout the entire area. According to them, towels are MUCH more sanitary for everybody. But hey, they can call themselves 'greener' by having them. (even though it only takes a short amount of time for a paper towel to break down into nothing)

I could honestly care less, as long as there is something to dry my hands with. Nor am I Germaphobic enough to care if I use paper towels or air.

The way I look at it is that air dryers are probably much more environmentally friendly, and probably make a lot less of a mess inside the bathroom than paper towels would. But again, it doesn't matter to me.

Actually, air dryers aren't more environmentally friendly. They use quite a bit of electricity, which is still mostly made through coal burning. Many paper towel companies use recycled paper and the responsible ones replant trees as well. It's pretty much a toss up, though I prefer the paper.

Air dryers just means you don't run out of towels, which has happened to us before. I always carry an old (but clean) hand towel in my backpack to avoid that situation.

I think it could be argued back and forth on which of the two are more environmentally friendly. Honestly, taking in all considerations, I find the air dryers to be the most, at least in the long run. But I'd rather not go further into that discussion.

Ultimately, these can end up saving the park money. It's really no doubt the cost of the constant purchase of paper towel roles will add up to a lot over time, and these will most likely end up saving a lot of money sooner than later. Also, paper towels laying on the sinks and ground that lazy people don't through away will display a dirty image in the bathroom, as it has in the past.

But really, I do not care, it hardly affects me in anyway.
