RE: Festa Italia Renovation/Retheme?

Is Le Scoot really a maintenance-heavy ride? I can't say I've ever seen it down.

Honestly, as the park pushes for year-round operation, I think a deciding factor in whether or not a ride stays or leaves could very well be what fraction of the year can it operate. Le Scoot is the only water ride at the park that doesn't truly soak you and thus, has the longest possible operating season. On the other extreme, Roman Rapids soaks riders to the bone every single ride and thus has the shortest operating season.

Maintenance heavy doesn't necessarily mean breaks down often.

As rides get older and companies go defunct, parts wear down/become harder to find. Water has a habit of damaging/wearing parts down as well. Since there are a lot of Arrow flumes still out there, chances are there are manufacturers willing to produce parts, but with more parks getting rid of their old flumes for newer water rides, who knows?

I'm pretty sure the park will do everything it can to keep Le Scoot alive because it's a classic ride that opened with the park, but when the parts become scarce, I see the flume getting the chopping block.

Back to Festa, that area definitely needs some sort of overhaul to bring it up to the rest of the park's standards. The most well-themed ride in that area is Rapids and even that's just a bunch of statues and columns. I'm definitely seeing a retheme of sorts over there.

Isn't Festa supposed to be themed around Marco Polo's return from his famous journey to china? i see nowhere in festa that suggests that it is themed around him.

Supposedly, yes. Like you said though, it does an awful job of portraying anything other than being the place to go if you want to waste your money on some carnival games or claw machines.

I think there is plenty of room in the Festa area, it is just currently really poorly laid out and not using the space wisely. Some of the flats in the area may need to be rearranged, relocated or even scrapped. With a better layout, Festa has plenty of space.

RE: Festa Italia Renovation/Retheme?

I say get rid of turkish delight, tradewind, elephant run, and that stupid three point basketball game and you have some room to work with.

RE: Festa Italia Renovation/Retheme?

The last thing the park needs is to remove flat rides. Unlike Tampa which has plenty of animal exhibits to fill the day, BGW seems to put more emphasis on their rides and losing them would expand that lack of flat rides void that the park has.

That said, moving them to more optimal spots would definitely benefit the park and create room for bigger/better rides.

get rid of LoD and move those flat rides there

I agree moving them to better spots in the park is the smart thing for them to do with this huge space.

Yeah Festa is actually a huge space with tons of potential. It would be a great spot for total revamp. No one would miss it.
I agree.

Why would you remove the LoD? LoD provides something different for little ones to do other than SS. I can agree that the LoD looks like it's not being used that much.

RE: Festa Italia Renovation/Retheme?

My original idea in post #1 was to pull everything, all the structures all the rides and you have a blank canvas to really get an amazing country in the park. I love the idea of moving the teacups to england, it makes so much sense. festa is a bit of a dead end. I wonder if there is room to connect them right before the Italy/Germany bridge behind the San Marco theater.

RE: Festa Italia Renovation/Retheme?

^ That was brought up by someone in another thread about a year ago and it was one of the greatest ideas I had ever heard. Even if it was just a pathway though some gardens, I think it would really help the flow of the area.

RE: Festa Italia Renovation/Retheme?

The park really needs some dedicated gardens. Have you been to the one in Florida? There is an area that has no rides or anything and is just some nice garden. I think its called the bird garden. I think that would be what your talking about.

I'm not sure if they could connect Festa to the bridge very easily. It would require a lot of work for not much benefit unless they planned on a big renovation back there. There is an employee walkway behind San Marco theatre that, if I remember correctly from when I worked in Italy, is pretty narrow and there is a steep decline back there compared to the paths above. Go by the bathrooms at San Marco and look out behind the statue that's there. If you look down, you will see the employee pathway. Then there is also the employee break area and other backstage areas, like trash dumpsters and the roadways for the trucks and other vehicles to pick up trash and bring supplies to the restaurant. Like I said, would probably require a lot of work to grade land or build elevated paths above the roadways, plus they would still need to conceal the employee areas. Now if they wanted to do a major expansion that includes that horse pasture area, then I could see them taking the time to build that extra path.

I agree 100%. Both SeaWorld and Busch Gardens Tampa have areas that are more or less devoted to just flowers, topiaries, etc. I'd love to see something like that at our park.

Coupled with an evening time full service restaurant, some street entertainment, evening 90 minute theater show, late night dancing and music, and access to nearby parking. Segregatable from the rest of the park.
