the reality tv show was simply a way they could advertise it. Those shows are fairly popular, and would create clever TV spots.

Is it true that Cork Screw Hill's sign is back out in front of the ride? I am looking at pictures posted on the 23rd on another website from a visit on the 22nd and it is clearly there.

If this is covered somewhere else on this board, forgive me. It's been a while since I've popped on.

Jessica

---EDIT: Nevermind. I see that the sign is permanent and they just forgot to cover it up with a CT sign. Funny how they would miss that tho? Carry on.----

The fact that the sign is permanent may still give some hope. Maybe EITA was just a filler so that a new, improved Corkscrew Hill video could be created.

^ One can only hope... I fear for Ireland. It use to be a fantastic life filled area of the park...Now its basically a place where most people just walk through, since they got rid of the show in Castle OSullivan for the dine ins... Add Corckscrew Hills removal, all thats left is celtic fyre. Because, lets face it, EITA is not an attraction, its way to beat the heat in summer. thats it. SOme shade and A/C. They need to do something quickly. Or, I fear, it will go the way of San Marco, only worse. imagine San Marco with no Davincis Cradle, no Battering Ram, just Mix it up. and some landscaping. Thats what Ireland is right now.

You know, I feel that I need to provide a slightly different perspective. And before I begin, please understand I am in no way defending the sudden removal of EitA last summer.

I may be a minority; who knows? But I have never been wildly enthusiastic about any of the simulators in Hastings/Ireland. I believe they serve a legitimate purpose and audience, but I hardly consider them a draw for the hamlet. They are, in my mind, adequate rides, best suited for grandparents and small children, or people who need some A/C. Goodness knows, I never felt that any of the simulators were worth any wait. And as I have mentioned elsewhere, I only attend shows at the park under duress. That said, I have never considered Ireland a "walk through."

I like Ireland for the shops, pub, and roving musicians. Honestly, it is one of only two places I enjoy eating in the park, during the regular season (whatever that is, these days). The bagpiper was one of my favorite musicians at CT. It is charming hamlet, and the comments about its having nothing left to offer, seem like an exaggeration, and to be honest a bit like group think/bandwaggoning to me.

Ireland is part of the charm that BGW has that sets it apart from pure rides-oriented parks. Maybe it does need a new attraction. In fact, it probably does, but I certainly hope they don’t put in another simulator.

I'll have to agree and disagree.

The EITA was a cheesy sim ride, reminiscent of something from the 1980's.
I would agree, if it was 90 and hot out, this was the place to kill some time.

Now, there are some very good sim rides out there. The Simpson's Ride (3D) in Universal is very well done, with pumped in scents to go along with it. Very authentic and done very well. It is an 'attraction' and well worth the wait in line. This sim was done with shuttle cars, where you thought you were on a coaster ride. I could ride it over and over....

It's Tough to be a Bug in Disney is also a must see. It's in 3D, complete with all the bells and whistles. You get sprayed with water, attacked by spiders and even get stung by a bee towards the end. Another 'attraction' worth waiting in line for. You can hear people screaming in the video from the spiders that seem so real.

I guess my point is, that it can be done successfully. BG will need to abandon the old "flying over the mountain" 80's flashback and invest some money on an 'attraction' and not a large air conditioned theater.

I think they could do something similar like Universal and have it themed towards a haunted/scary Leprechaun theme. A shuttle based sim that would take you through a haunted castle or something. And SCARY, it would have to be really SCARY.

Current budget issues would not allow this, but I still think an elaborate interactive Sally dark ride--geared toward families/adults/children/thrill seekers alike--would be a perfect fit for where the simulators now sit dark. Just take out the simulators (sell them if possible?), put in some track, and put in plenty of multi-sensory, three-dimensional sets. Themes could range from leprechauns to banshees to witches to enchanted caverns. The theme would be limited only by the park's imagination. And whether or not we like their work, the park has people who come up with things like a singing forest spirit or fairytale princesses who sing about fashion. A good story would come up eventually. :)

I could very well be wrong, but I believe Sally dark rides are relatively inexpensive for what they do and that they are a massive draw for parks. Plus, the heavy theming and interactivity would be a plus for the increasing number of repeat visitors, especially since many of the park's rides don't offer this perk. I would think this would have to be done on a much larger and more elaborate scale than the Boo Blasters on Boo Hill interactive Sally dark ride at Kings Dominion to totally set the rides apart. If done correctly, though, this ride would be a killer near-E-ticket attraction for Busch Gardens, and it would be the perfect contrast to Darkastle's high-tech videos and intensity (in both visuals and motion--even in its watered-down state).

It's about time Killarney got a real attraction.

When I first heard about the concept for EiTA, I was hopeful that Busch could pull off something like Soarin'. They clearly couldn't. But if they get their act together, would I be naive enough to think it could happen? Yes. I love Soarin', and I think it's one of the best theme park rides around. Every time I've ever ridden it, the ride ends with applause from the guests. That's pretty rare. If they took their time and invested in a quality project with a new ride system, I think it could be pretty cool.

I still love to eat in Ireland. It's a nice little area of the park, but I do feel like there's nothing to do there. It feels like there is significant enough room for a large E-ticket over there, but nothing has ever been done. With the addition of a solid anchor ride (and like Nic said, simulators are rarely anchors, aside from rides like Soarin') and a new good show, Ireland would return to glory.

Just bring back Questor already. It was the only decent simulator in that building. The various 3D ones they had over the years were awful. I didn't mind Europe in the Air; not a must see but something to do when passing through Ireland.

Seriously, I loved Questor as a kid. Still miss it.

I know, but I liked it. It was cute, the storyline worked with the old country theme somewhat. I just found it fun every time I got on. Even once when my seatbelt flew off in the front row in the middle of the drilling sequence. Held on as tight as I could for the rest of the ride.

Unlike King Arthur's Challenge, which made me ill due to the 3D. I liked the storyline for Corkscrew Hill, but the projectors didn't line up right in the final years and again the 3D made me nauseous. The only 3D-screen ride I've ever been able to enjoy is Darkastle's.

I would LOVE a really good Sally dark ride. The off-the-shelf ones (like Boo Blasters) can feel a little cheap, but I have faith that (in theory) BG could pull together a haunted castle or enchanted Irish forest dark ride. Not sure about fitting the guns in themeing wise, but, hey, I could put up with those for a gorgeous, immersive dark ride.

I'm probably dreaming too big, but man, look how AWESOME these can be! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=byRGO51zgGA

As much as I'd love to see a real good Sally dark ride, I could see it fall into a state of neglect like DarKastle. Which was a great ride when it first opened but every year I go back the ride is worse and the effects hardly, or don't work at all.

What do you make of this?

http://seaworldparks.com/en/buschgardens-williamsburg/Attractions/Rides/Europe-in-the-Air

Seems strange that it's still listed after this long if they don't plan on bringing it back.

Europe in the Air is back on the parks website. It does not say anything anymore about it being closed for the season. It is on the rides page.

I'm not sure if it has been mentioned on here yet, but I heard that one of reasons for closing the ride was because they needed a replacement part. By they time they got the part shipped to the park they would have to set up for 13 and they would not have enough time to work on it in between Howl-O-Scream and ChristmasTown, so they decided to wait until the next season.

Although most of us  did not like the ride, lets hope it stays open to at least take some of the crowd away from the other rides.

I think they should just add a suspended vekoma family coaster with a few inversions. It could go around Ireland, the bridge,The little forest and ravine, and have a small indoor section. It be a pretty nice addition! :D
