Hmm, well as far as the profitability of seaworld in general this article in the Wallstreet journal certainly makes a statement,

http://online.wsj.com/article/0,,SB10001424127887323309604578432581633187060,00.html

with an estimated worth of $2.8B and $1.7B in debt, Blackstone managed to squeeze out $610M in dividends in the past three years. That doesnt say anything about this particular parks profitability, and we wont know until Sea World files its 10k filing at the end of the year, I would think it would be disclosed there.

It could be a budgetary shutdown, but I doubt it, they keep all rides open at Kings Dominion and its a turd compared to this park, and I guarantee it has less profitability than BGW.

I'm more interested that the P/E ratio for Blackstone & SEAS hasn't scared more investors away to be honest....

Food for thought... Didn't they close Drachen Fire like this? No warning? I heard it was due to a pending lawsuit from someone who was injured. Can anyone confirm this? If it has already been confirmed.. I do apologize.

Drachen Fire was riddled with problems of causing injury to riders, they were practically forced to shut it down. If you think EITA is rough, think again, Drachen Fire was worse.

That guy at the end is totally in a ride restricted area right? Probably not back then, but definitely wouldn't be allowed nowadays.

I don't really miss this ride and I'm kinda glad it's gone. Every time I've stood in line for it, it's always been a walk on (sans one day during Christmas Town around opening, but even that died down to a five minute wait toward the middle and end of the event). Everyone I've talked to who's ridden it said it was a disappointment (including friends who actually wanted to ride it).

Even Mach Tower with all its downtime can still command 20-30+ minute waits on busy days. Not really something EITA could consistently do.

In regards to attendance, the park is just as crowded as ever, so I don't think that's a huge issue. We had some pretty extreme weather last year (about as bad as this year) and it didn't stop people from showing up on nice days. Plus even Memorial Weekend was as busier this year than it was last year despite Verbolten opening a few weeks prior.

If the park really had severe budget problems, they should've cut the 50 nights of fireworks down to just weekends. I'm sure fireworks are crazy expensive.

Most likely the fireworks were already paid for, or depending on how they were ordered were not going to have to be paid for till the next quarter so their cost didn't effect current quarter financials.

But mostly Entertainment has already made cuts they just decided to keep fireworks. The rides department had to make their cuts and they decided NOT to keep EITA.

People are upset they cut the ride because of what it says about where the park is, generally.

Not only the reason behind it, but also the fact that it was done without telling anyone. No ride deserves that. I was talking to Nora about it and she brought up a very good point: What about the people who worked on the ride? Don't you think they would have wanted to see their work one last time? Someone filmed that stuff and someone composed that music. The park just pulled the plug without letting anyone experience it- good or bad- one last time.

True dat.

Look man, I NEEDED to ride this thing on occasion. It wasn't just because I liked it or it was a ride I had no fitting issues with, it was an essential part of my BGW experience.

Now let me explain; folks who know me know that I am working on my weight. One of the great things about coming to this park is all of the exercise I get walking on the hilly pathways and whatnot. I can work up a great sweat when I am really pushing it, especially in this heat and humidity. Anyway, no matter how much walking I do, sooner or later I end up at the Festhaus, or the Pretzel Shack, or the Smokehouse....wherever, and I MUST eat something there because it is so good and I won't get that at home.

So what does this all have to do with EITA? Well, my usual route will generally take me through Ireland on the way out to England. I am not one who goes to extremes to lose weight; you know, like surgery or purging. I figure if I just take a ride over Europe on the magic sled or whatever, then I will be good. Ask Peter R. So in that aspect, yes, I will miss it.

^ Know what I mean, homey? :p
