Seriously, water based ride = wet always.

Yes, clearly no one should complain if the ride operators on Le Scoot start dumping buckets of water over guests heads before they're allowed to exit the ride. There's no reason I should come off Escape from Pompeii (or any water ride at a theme park) looking like I've just been attacked by Poseidon. If you really want to get that wet and walk around in drenched clothes all day may I recommend wearing normal clothes to Water Country? You'll get an identical effect.
I'm glad someone is on the same page as me!

To be fair, if the water hoses were gone, I really wouldn't miss them. It's not like they add any theming or whatever to the ride. But what if they served another purpose? One that perhaps even the moneybags of BGW didn't intend. Think of the placement of these quarter munchers. What are they adjacent to? I believe there is a certain time-telling structure in the vicinity. As you are causally checking out the scenery after having just survived the Escape from Pompeii, you feel relaxed. And that's when it happens. Splash!!! A blast of cold water distracts you from seeing it; bringing you back to the realities of where you are. Saving you from having to witness the supposed eyesore of Italy. The bain of Pompeii. Yes! You know of what I speak. The dreaded... To be continued.

Would it be a stretch to say we're all sounding like a bunch of old fuddie duddies? Get off my lawn!! hehehehe Stop stealing my newspaper!! Where are my glasses?

Not a stretch at all...all of you "old" people are complaining to complain. You're not going to make us, the cool kids, change our minds on riding water rides because you are worried that the velcro in your shoes won't work because you got them wet. :p

I get the "It's a water ride, you should expect to get wet." argument. However, there's a difference with a ride where you get wet as part of the ride and you have some control over how wet you can get and a ride where they add extra stuff many years after where you're going to get drenched. Pompeii has a great show building that frankly is too good for a water ride, and it was possible to ride before with minimal dampness, but those blasters have denied me that building. :\

I agree about the blasters. I was tempted to ride this weekend, knowing the splash wouldn't get us all that wet, but I saw some really amped-up guys pumping coins into the water-blasters (to be annoying, since it was chilly) and decided not to risk it.

This! I can happily never ride Roman Rapids because the ride is literally just getting soaked. Escape from Pompeii on the other hand has the best darkride effects in the park. In fact, you'd be hard-pressed to find anything with effects like that outside of Florida and California. It's a real shame to have such a fantastic darkride's ridership limited so drastically by something as useless as water cannons.

THIS!! It really touched me. I could feel the torment and sorrow coming from these words as I read them. You guys are right. I feel bad for you all. So, if you meet three or more of the following requirements I would like to offer you an olive branch and hopefully put this issue to rest:

- You don't want to get wet/soaked on a water ride (a little splash is OK)
- You don't want to get a poncho to keep you from getting wet
- You don't want to pay to use the Family Dryer
- You don't want to walk around wet afterwards
- You don't want to change clothes and/or shoes
- You don't want to wear sandals
- You want to ride because you like boats & going downhill fast
- You want to ride because you really like the show inside the building

If you feel as though you are missing out because of the water gun issue, I would like to offer my services to stand guard at the water gun stations and keep them clear of any and all would-be-soakers to you riders. I will set a day and time when I will be available in the park to watch your backs. It will usually be on Friday evenings between 5pm to close, or Sundays 11am to 5pm. Occasionally I may be available on a Saturday. Requests for times will be considered, but no PM's. That's just weird; plus I want to keep the times I will stand guard public. Will be on the lookout especially for Nora & Pandora. Apparently they are snipers with those blasters. But if they team up on me and one of them starts tickling...well, there's only so much I can do.
I figure a 30 minute window should be sufficient. I could be tempted to hang around longer in exchange for a pretzel-wrapped sausage dog from Germany.

P.S. I mean this in all sincerity. Zachary, Mr. Pretzel, etc.

I don't mind the water blasters when it's 90+ outside. I was there weekend before last though and wouldn't ride Pompeii because of them. Honestly just some common sense from the park on when to have them functional would go a long ways. My sense is the ride would get a lot more traffic if they would turn the water blasters off once in awhile. It's idiotic to have them turned on when it's 62 degrees outside.

I'm oooooold! And I'm not happy! And I don't like things now compared to the way they used to be. All this progress -- phooey!

In my day, we had a baby pool and a big pool…we didn’t have no new-fangled water park with a splash pad and a giant bucket of water and a twisty slide…. just a baby pool and a big pool…AND WE LIKED IT!!

Flibble-dee-flee ~ In my day!

CK- that was for you. :p For you other young whipper-snappers who have no idea who Dana Carvey is, that was from SNL.
