I'm on Team Remove the Damn Things, but at least they haven't put them at Le Scoot.  I haven't ridden KD's flume since they installed them there years ago, and I used to love that flume.

The cannons on Shenandoah Lumber Co. aren't nearly as bad as the ones on Pompeii. KD's cannons have nozzles on them that "spray" the water moreso than "blast" it, so even after getting hit by them you're more drizzled on than drenched.

The ones at Pompeii, on the other hand, dump a thick, heavy, glassy stream of water onto the boats, which pounds down on your head and back. If the cannons were restrained like the ones at KD, I would probably ride Pompeii much more often.

That's a really good idea. The notion that you'll get at least a little bit wet is to be expected on Pompeii. If the blasters gave the boat a fusillade of spray instead of a solid beefy laminar arc of water, people like me would shut up and ride.

Not that most other folks would care... but it would improve my day at the park, anyway.

Get some spray nozzles on those things!

I hate the spray from behind water jet the most.

Okay, I have been on Pompeii loads of times and yesterday was the first time I actually got soaking wet. Someone made a direct hit and totally deluged most of my boat. (usually I have seen people completely miss, which greatly amuses me...) I personally didn't care since I kind of WANTED to get all wet (I honestly thought it was pretty funny since the two little kids, probably somewhere between 5 and 8 maybe, had been all excited right before AND all during the ride saying "It's hot in there and then we're gonna get allll wet!" and then were giggling and saying "I didn't think we were gonna get THIS wet!" Haha.:p They also told me I should go ride Nessie and InvadR, lol.)
The people in the rows in front of and behind me were not happy, however.

I honestly find the water blasters to be rather obnoxious, but I personally am not bothered by them. If I don't want to risk getting soaking wet that particular day, then I won't ride Escape from Pompeii (or the other water rides). I don't really think BGW should take them out because it's easy money for the park.:p

If you can get the second row all to yourself, you can sit in the middle to get less wet during the big splashdown. Then, slide to the far left and you will miss the majority of the stream from most cannons. This can even work with the dreaded rear shot cannon that Luke mentioned if your timing is right.

The front row is technically the least prone to the cannons on the left side, but water sloshes in from the front after the initial dip into the show building.

The park finally posted a POV of Escape From Pompeii on their YouTube channel. I have heard that the music was the main reason that they didn't post one in the past, but that is no issue here because the video has a different soundtrack.

I can only hope that they would never mess with the original soundtrack. I believe my concern is well founded after what happened recently with SeaWorld Orlando's Journey to Atlantis. We are already missing the music in the last room.

They also posted this Boomerang vid on Instagram 19 hours ago.

o.o What happened with Journey to Atlantis? And yay! thanks for posting!

They removed the original soundtrack, although the JTA Tag still plays in the entry plaza. Also, they removed any theming to do with the original storyline (mermaids, sirens, and Hermes). They replaced the soundtrack with that of the former show, Al'lure. This could be temporary, however, because they did say that they are tying together the new story of Kraken with JTA.

Escape from Pompeii's soundtrack hasn't been fully functioning this year, so I fear that they would replace the soundtrack entirely rather than trying to restore it.

Any big reason Pompeii has been down for two days at least?

It appeared to have gone down yesterday as there was maintenance and the normal ride opps there in the afternoon I am guessing that it had not been down long.

Since I said it on the Madrid thread, I'll say it here. If the park would turn off the water cannons from 3:00 - 5:00 or something (maybe 11-12, and 4-5?) I would ride Pompeii again.
My in-laws drop $2 or $3 each visit at those cannons, I'm sorry to say. :) I was surprised they were active last weekend, temps hit 60 at most Friday and Saturday.

I have to wonder if ridership would improve if the cannons were removed/turned off? Hate to see them pull Pompeii due to low attendance, if it's just because of people like me not wanting to get drenched. The building would be SBNO so as to be used for CT lights...

We never ride due to the cannons. We would ride if they were removed or had limited hours.
