Pompeii was being temperamental today. In the 10 or so minutes waiting in line, the operator announced to remain seated that the ride will restart about 3 times. In which the lift hill turned off and the show pumps for the drop turned off as well. After about a minute a boat would drop and the show pumps would turn back on afterwards. Then the lift would restart. Then when I got on, we were stopped right before the drop and he made the announcement yet again. After a moment of waiting the ride then restarted. Once we got back to the station.... they were still waiting on the lift to restart.

Maintenance never showed up, but if this type of thing happens, I'm just curious why the ride isn't closed until its fixed. Sure the ride can be restarted, but if it keeps happening, that's usually sign that a part is going bad.

Good to know, I was just about to get on it. Guess I'm waiting til tomorrow.

Where these times when a boat was leaving the station? I know the transition from the station to the lift is notoriously finicky. Maybe they were restarting the lift trying to get it to catch?

Yeah... looked like the front of the boat was on it and the back was still in the water from my perspective.

Rode Pompeii today, was curious about the comments mentioned earlier about some of the effects were off. I can confirm that was the case!

One of the fire effects, I think the third one on the right that snakes up the ceiling was off. I am assuming that this was the spot where the fire effect caught a material on the roof on fire in the July fire incident. Also no sound past the statue. The ride needs some TLC ASAP.

The park is really starting to cut some corners in the quality department of their attractions. Pompeii probably doesn't have too many years left as a ride- though it won't go anywhere in the next few years. The park doesn't have a plan that I am aware of for removing the ride.

I'd love to see the park invest in Pompeii similar to Loch Ness over the offseason for 2019. Fix the effects inside, add the enclosed lift hill which was part of the original plan of the ride or something.

If Pompeii is ever retired, the park could repurpose the building for a new attraction but nothing anytime soon. Water rides aren't so easy to replace and this one is too good to not have around anymore.

I think it is possible. The bills of baseball caps are hard, and just having a friend throw one at you and if it hits you the wrong way can hurt. Given this man is older and it hits on a very sensitive part of the body, I believe the sound. Now I don't believe this incident could've ever been fatal if it hits someone's neck or blinding if it hit an eye.

It doesn't take much for some bad swelling on your upper lip.

I was hit by one on Apollo once hurt likeed heck snd left s niCDe bruise on my aeggman this is totally reasonable for a hat to thr face if it hit just right. The could have been fatal part is just dam drama and over reaction that makes the average person want to dismiss this.

Coincidental how I just complained about the severe lack of training to the park and also in my trip report. I see riders on Griffon and Alpen with hats all the time. How do ride ops not care.

Not excusing the park or anything here; but this is that time of year when there's a 'changeover' in staffing as high school kids and college kids are going back to school and there's either less staff or new people starting that will be there through the fall and winter.

You can secure a hat. It should not be worn while the ride is moving. But I don't want a ban on hats in the queue or secured on you altogether. I need sun protection. The on-again-off-again restriction on hats at Verbolten is the second big reason I don't ride it anymore. They had/have spells where you can't even walk into line with a hat at all. I keep a soft safari hat on that folds ups, secures looped around my neck, and then goes under my shirt. I'm not getting skin cancer for anyone. Certainly not playing the money game for a locker, either. Haven't used a locker in 25 years utilizing smart packing and cargo pants. I see more phones out on rides than hats flying off.

Why all parks need some sort of bin system!

Even if they want to do "no large objects" in the ride line (purses, backpacks, and the like), but allow you to have a hat, water bottle, phone in line with a place to put it while riding. Especially the hat and water for those of us that have reasons to want it (hats for people that have had skin cancer; water for diabetics).

Hats and water are life essentials for some people. I'm guessing the bin removals follows the Carowinds line of thinking that it "slows loading too much". I call bullshit on that as a push to lockers. The ambassadors (as they seem to be called now) at BGW and CW load 10x as slow as it would take for me to toss something in a bin and get back in my seat.

Another park I know working to move away from bins and to lockers has said they did it because of increased petty theft of items left in the bins. They said it has little to do with load times as their test this year with coasters that had lockers were still the same. So that continued "load time" stuff is a line rather than just saying why.

I've been in the face by a hat brim going at full speed before it does hurt quite a bit, left numbess sensation in my mouth for several minutes. Having said that though it does not cause welts that large so from my experience something else caused that to happen.

My thing is why would these people tell this story if it didn't happen? It could've been something other than a hat, but regardless they were hit by a loose article, clearly. It's not like these people are just out for blood and make up some extremely specific story.
