Almost exactly 20 years ago I corresponded with a BGW employee who claimed to have a few cassette tapes (!) of the Pompeii soundtrack and said he could pop one in the mail to me. Figuring it was worth a shot, I forwarded my mailing address but never heard back from him.

So I can verify that various quests to get the Pompeii music in some - any - full length format have been going on for a long time.

I'm sure there is quite a bit of interesting media related to the ride. On either opening day or media day, they supposedly had Larry Giles and the park president at the time (Dan Brown I think) dressed as Roman soldiers. I would love to see video footage of the ride at that time.

I miss being able to hear the music from the parking lot at the end of the night. It was like the park was giving me a final farewell.

YES! I haven't really stayed until close in many years (small child and all that) but I still will hum the music as I leave the lot any time of day. Do they not play it any more?

To me it seems like soooo much longer maybe its my adhd kicking in and i'm looking at everything. lol

That sounds like it could be very fun or miserable depending on how much you like stairs. Be sure to tell us all how that went!

I've always thought it would be cool if I could ride Escape From Pompeii as much as I want, and get off at the end of the show building. I like the fire, and I don't mind the splashdown much. I just don't like the water cannons.

I believe you have misunderstood, we were five feet from the station and they wouldn't let us just climb right out. In the end, they just took a stick thing and let the lap bar up twenty minutes later :p

Though I have spent some time in the building before. I was in the boat by myself, the door had opened and then the boat stopped. It was kinda cool getting to listen to the rest of the Pomepeii song. Then I just sat there... In the boat... By myself for awhile, but then they finally fixed the ride and I dropped, luckily, everyone left the water squirters when the ride broke down so I got off relatively dry.

Also, there is very few times when I ride Pompeii and nothing breaks down. It has broken down with me getting on the boat, right before I board the ride and even right after I got off. Maybe I am just a bad luck charm for pompeii.

Edit: stairs wouldn't be a problem for me in an evac, after you have been to waterparks like WCUSA a LOT of times, you would think climbing Pomepeii stairs would be just the same as like climbing vanish point or ihu's breakaway falls(aquatica):p

Having hiked switchbacks in the mountains for years and climb stairs on aircraft carriers for a work shift nothing else at this point compares to it.

In case anyone is still interested in the music on the attraction, here are all of the stats that I have been able to acquire.

Gary Lensenmayer wrote the music for Escape From Pompeii, and Doug Minerd was the producer. Both typically would work together on producing scores. Apparently Pompeii's music was the first commercial music session recorded recorded in a studio in Washington DC, which was brand new at the time. It had a 60-some piece orchestra, and featured several Marine Corps. musicians.

Yeah but the problem with that is at some point you'll try to find a site to download the music so you can listen to it all the time, but go crazy doing so because its not available.
