Can anyone weigh in on who made the decision to replace "This is Octoberfest" with this turd? I'd like to organize a campaign to bring back the iconic Festhaus show & band. I realize with the investment already made in these changes it's going to be a tough battle, but I can't stand by and idly watch my favorite place on earth destroyed. Anyone interested?

haha... thanks for the laugh :p

Write a full letter to the park. Businesses (generally) take letters seriously.

I will grant you this show leaves a lot to be desired, but the real "This is Octoberfest" show ended when the burgermeister retired. The show they've had the last couple of years has been pathetic. I agree Entwined just doesn't fit the Festhaus but something needed to be changed. Lets stop the with this disillusion that This is Octoberfest was still some grand show. I saw it once last year, that was all I could stand. What in the world was with the puppet sheep? If that wasn't catering to kids like everyone is complaining that this show does, then I don't know what it was for. Don't take this the wrong way, I'm not a fan of Entwined either, I'll just continue to not go to the Festhaus for the show, well until Howl-O-Screen anyway.

Agreed; last year I avoided it like the plague, and was vocal then as well. Previous years began with the history of the festival, with the rest of the show educating how German polka influenced music here. Last year, all of that was replaced with cheesy dialogue and mugging... and the marionette number from "Sound of Music."

RE: Entwined: Tales of Good and Grimm (2012)

Is it just me or does the park seem to deliberately ruin a show before it retires? They did that with Emerald Beat, Secrets of Castle O'Sullivan, Festivale Italiano, and now This is Oktoberfest. I'm beginning to wonder if this is deliberate so that people won't miss the show as much. Last year the show This is Oktoberfest was much more childish than before, and I think they're using that as an excuse to replace it with this kid's show. Now don't get me wrong I actually kind of like the new show somewhat, but I just hope this doesn't become a common trend to "cartoonize" the park.

Edit: With all things considered, I bet Monster Stomp is next on the chopping block.

EEK! Ok...I wasn't able to make it to the park last summer, so I didn't see the 'This is Oktoberfest' show. I was only able to attend ChristmasTown. Sounds like it was a good thing I didn't visit last summer!! What the...??

Former shows I thought were very good, the ladies especially were kind to the children and would dance with them during one or two parts of the shoe. Definitely a 'family show'. Sigh.... :/

EDIT: I think you might be onto something there, CastleOSullivan. Not being one for conspiracy theories, it still makes you wonder if it's intentional or not. Shame on them if it is.

Chicken dance guys.

Your point? That was the one part of the show dedicated to the kids. I thought it was nice for them to have a small section of the show dedicated to making kids happy, and the rest of the show as 'all-purpose entertainment'. The one problem I DID always have with that part of the show was that they took the kids up those stairs! That was a lawsuit waiting to happen...

I was at a German restaurant last Friday night. When the musician got to the chicken dance, nearly everyone put down their utensils to do the hand motions and there wasn't a single child in the house - what's your point?

I had 2 old ladies that left Holland during the war and came to live in America as neighbors not long ago. They would always go on and on about the chicken dance, and even encourage my daughter to dance it.

According to Wiki: "The "Chicken Dance" is an oom-pah song and its associated fad dance is now a contemporary American folk dance. The song was composed by accordion (Handharmonika) player Werner Thomas from Davos, Switzerland, in the 1950s."

Btw, they would also say 'hello' and 'goodbye' by doing the same call that the female dancers used to do frequently during the Festhaus show. "HOO-ooo" (pronounced like the word 'who').

^This, I'm not sure why everybody is surprised why the show went in a kiddy friendly direction.

Monster Stomp NEEDS to go. It is good the first few times, but it has gotten way too old. I want to see a real revamp, not just one new bit and a new stage setup. I want to see an almost entirely new show there. They could at least change up the drumming and knife beats. This stuff really get old and I would hate to see them try to extend a good show longer than it needs to be. Everything has a time.

Everyone is complaining Entwined is too kid friendly for a beer hall. Well excuse me but wasn't people saying how we should have a kid friendly show for HOS?

You get what you ask for. Finally a kid friendly show to keep everyone's morals in check.

RE: Entwined: Tales of Good and Grimm (2012)

I have a favor to ask of somebody going to the park. I know the Prince and Princess characters have names, could somebody find out what they are? They are on the front sign outside the Festhaus.
