A source gave me this... Entwined: Confirmed name

BUSCH GARDENS TO DEBUT NEW FESTHAUS SHOW

Entwined: Tales of Good & Grimm Brings Classic Fairy Tales To Life

WILLIAMSBURG, VA (March 8, 2012) – Busch Gardens delves deep into Bavarian folk lore in a new musical stage production debuting at Das Festhaus on March 24. Entwined: Tales of Good & Grimm transforms the park's 2,000-seat restaurant into a forest wonderland where fairy tales come to life.

Inspired by classic Grimm fairy tales and set to a score recorded by a 40-piece orchestra, Vice President of Entertainment Scott Gasparich produced a family-friendly musical production that plays on Bavaria's rich story-telling heritage. Entwined features elaborately costumed characters, singers, dancers and even acrobats that tell the tales of Hansel and Gretel and Little Red Riding Hood. A dancing chorus line of gingerbread men, Goldilocks with her three bears and a host of other fairy tale characters make cameo appearances in this Busch Gardens fairy tale with a twist.

"We all remember these stories from our childhood," Gasparich said. "The fantasy world we created here at Busch Gardens brings our version of these beloved stories to life."

Gasparich anticipates Entwined will join Celtic Fyre and other park-produced shows as fan favorites that combine uncompromising production standards with storylines appropriate for the entire family.

"Entwined really is about digging deep within yourself to reach your goals. It reminds you that anything is possible once upon a time," Gasparich said.

The creative team behind Entwined has made some significant changes to Das Festhaus to enhance the show experience. Das Festhaus' original stage has been replaced with a modern performance space that incorporates moving scenery, theatrical lighting and other special effects. Façades of Hansel and Gretel's gingerbread house, Red Riding Hood's cottage and a fairy tale castle are blended in with the traditional Bavarian-style architectural designs and landscapes that line the restaurant's interior walls.

Other subtle additions that play on the show's theme include the addition of hand-made gingerbread men and gumdrop cupcakes to the Festhaus menu. The show's forest-inspired theme also complements Busch Gardens' newest roller coaster, Verbolten ℠ , which opens later this spring.

Entwined replaces the park's long-running This is Oktoberfest show, which ended its 35-year run at the end of Busch Gardens regular 2011 season. Gasparich said Entwined is Busch Gardens' response to guests asking for fresh programming.

Live Oompah-style musical performances remain a part of the Busch Gardens experience with seasonal performances performed outside Das Festhaus.

This could either be a great show, or horrible

RE: Entwined (2012)

I like that article, I like how they are making things fresh. Although, some changes are good, others are bad, I think this show sounds like it will be a new hit. I can't wait to see the show since it says elaborately costumed characters. Its actually a bit funny how they emphasize it is a "family-friendly" show.

Also, here is something you may or may not know. The park hand creates every costume worn by performers in the park. They don't outsource, except for the TM's outfits. In fact, the costume team started working on Deadline costumes in August, and it took them months to create all of them.

Got wind of a team member preview for Entwined set for right before the 24th. Looks like pass holders will get to be the first to see the new show.

Just read over the press release and it says it will open on the 24th. But it also says in the passholder thing to check out the new show.. I smell a soft opening! Can't wait to see pics.

I was at the park earlier this morning and asked if it would be showing on passmember day. They said they weren't sure.

The exact words were "We hope". So while I don't have any proof or copyrights, it sounds like it might not be decided yet. We'll find out soon enough.

I dont even know what to say about the show. Thats right, what show? I think they made if thru 3 songs. The lighting wasn't done. I am sorely disappointed in the park for being so last minute with this. Why would they wait until Thursday to fly in the acrobats. I seriously doubt the show is ready to go next Saturday.

Mix it up was like that last year too but they got it together.

This is the boldest thing the park has done. I mean they have totally abandoned the German/Oktoberfest theme. It went from people dressed like old time Germans to bears, wolves, and witches. This is going to either be a hit or a miss. So far it's a miss for me. It reminds me a lot of a Disney show. And the stage, is well, interesting. I mean mushrooms? How is that German?

RE: Entwined (2012)

Well I was told that the full show was not running today and that the full show would be going next weekend

RE: Entwined (2012)

While they didn't do a full show yet, I did really like the costumes. They were very imaginative. For example, Grettle's dress is based off a compass.

RE: Entwined (2012)

I went to the 3:00 dress rehearsal. It was not a soft opening but truly a rehearsal. They stopped the show and redid parts many times. They got through three scenes. I am guessing the show would have at least 6-8 scenes to get any sort of story line across. (It seems to be Hansel and Gretel combined with the Little Red Riding Hood and Goldilocks?.) The VP of entertainment was there and cracked a few jokes while hosting the rehearsal. ("Since Verbolten took over the black forest, we had to move the bears inside the Festhaus").

It's too early to tell if it'll be any good. The costuming is great, the new stage is impressive (trap doors, very large), the music sounds good, and I can tell that they are trying to improve the choreography. It's so risky to ditch the old theme, though!

If it had been non-passholders in attendance, I think I would have seen about 25% of the audience leave in the first 10 minutes today. I even thought about bailing on it. But we passholders are more anxious to see something new.

RE: Entwined (2012)

If you're wondering why this all seems last minute. Well that's because it is. This wasn't suppose to be the show they planned on having a few months ago.

I saw a little today, but not enough to make a judgement call on it. I will say that stage is huge and really out of place. I really hate not seeing the old stage in there. They have lost the whole theme of the Festhaus in this set up too. I mean I really don't want to see a frickin gingerbread house in there.

If Scott came up with this show then he really needs to rethink what he exactly wants in a show because it just doesn't match...

I got all of that after being inside there for 5 minutes..

Designed by Phil Rayburn apparently.

Does anybody know if the music is original?

We saw them do "Pure Imagination" from Willie Wonka at the 4:30 rehearsal. Didn't recognize the other two songs we heard though.

Yep. For those who didn't see it, they did the exact same type of rehearsal last year for Mix It Up that they did for Entwined this year. It will be ready by next week with no problems.
