Hasn't anyone ever taken a date on one of these things...at night? They are aren't going anywhere for the duration, no matter how bad you are. lol

Plus, fireworks viewing. County fair in Salem/Roanoke County.

What're you talking about, guys? We already have a Ferris wheel!

Seriously, though, I think a Ferris wheel in England is a terrible idea. It would ruin the look of the area, create huge bottlenecks, and we'd totally freak out about how it screws up the feel of the entrance area. I don't see it happening. ;)

If they planned it correctly, a "London Eye" in England could serve a function similar to KD's (random) Eiffel Tower (always thought that would make more sense in BGW), and Sea World's lighthouse.

Of course it would NOT be in any way "Old England."

On another note, in addition to the Sonic Screwdrivers are TARDISes, what they need is some Captain Jack Harkness.

You could definitely theme it and keep it open for CT! I wouldn't want the London Eye per se, but an old time style ferris wheel would rock! Put it over the water between England and Ireland. Enclose the cars in the winter so you can sit on it with a cocoa!

I wonder how large a wheel the England area could actually accommodate. They don't take too much open space at ground level, but the space does need to have some level length to it and you need to be clear of absolutely everything overhead.

The really big wheels (London, Singapore, Vegas, Vegas, Vegas) seem to run something like $50m. I suspect the park would want a ride that costs perhaps 10% of that. Something on the scale of a 45 meter Schwarzkopf wheel, with some nicely customized cabins or classical music piped in.

Anyway... back to the present.

Personally, I don't have a dog in that fight anyway. BG stopped being "The Old Country and "The Dark Continent" (thank goodness for the latter) a while ago. As an average park-goer, I am personally OK with the theming as long as it remains Europe-focused.

As others have noted, the fact is that Europe has always been mix of centuries of architecture dating back long before the Middle Ages. In my mind, mixing 60s Britain with Elizabethan England makes more sense than a purist approach that never existed and never will in Europe.

That said, I disagree that Union Jax has done a great job with the 60s/70s theme. It is OK, but I think there are too many iPAD cases and not enough pop culture items.

Needs more Beatles and the Who.

If they are going to go down the rock themed road, I think they should have memorabilia from the entire British Invasion, not just a few bands. Stones Kinks, etc.

The Punk and Electronica scenes would be cool as well. The Sex Pistols might not be family-friendly, but the Clash is fairly PG. And even the Smiths are in car commercials and Aaron Spelling shows, so 80s Brit Pop is probably safe. Besides, those eras are what today's parents grew up listening to...sort of...

Banbury Cross should stay Shakespeare Era in my opinion.

Oh dear. I didn't mean to start another theming debate. Mea culpa.

You know, a couple of Doctors have met the Bard. Most recently, he (David Tennant) and Martha helped with some witch-alien things. There was a 60's era Doctor who went to the Elizabethan era, as well. Maybe that could tie the whole big ball of timey-wimey thing together? (I am kidding here.)

I am not a fan of the London Eye concept. I consider Mach Tower a "eye in the sky ride" for Busch Gardens. My wish is that they turn Mach Tower into a ride like Wind Seeker and forgo the drop tower. If you plan on building a panoramic view of the park, Mach Tower is the most strategically placed area for such a ride.

BTW- I went to London and skipped the London Eye. It is slow, costs an insane amount for one revolution around ($40), it takes forever with loading/ unloading. I decided that my money was better spent watching a Shakespearean performance at the Globe and taking a guided tour of Parliament instead.

I agree in principle, if I could bring myself to look at anything from that cantilevered chair of evil. Accelerated drop towers, like Doctor Doom's Fearfall are fine; but hanging off the side of a pole, on a ride that rarely works, wondering how secure the restraints really are, for what seems like minutes is no time to admire the view. The drop is fun, though.

I would personally prefer something more enclosed for a view of the park ride. To be honest, I like the Skyride for this reason.

Why would London Rocks occur in Banbury Cross?

The key here is that the powers that be hate Banbury Cross and, to be honest, if the money is there, I don't expect Banbury Cross to exist in 3 years. I could see Banbury Cross becoming branded as London within the next few seasons.
